I had a engine very similar to this one but made by Meccano. I had it as a Christmas present when I was 7 yrs old that nearly 60 years ago. It still works and I have the original box and instruction with it.

Nice, got one myself yesterday but mine has the same whistle as the traction engine.

You could always replace the whistle on your SE3 with a brass turned one

In reality it probably makes very little difference to the performance of the steam engine.

Lovely engine. What would be the diffrence between a regular engine and one that is 'super heated'?
