ive seen 1.3 litre Suzuki Jimnys run rings round cars with BIG engines. Basically, u need a good power-to-weight ratio in the desert.
over HERE, the problem seems to be that youre using a Kinetic Energy rope to pull on a gradient. These ropes dont snatch vehicles out, they stretch and recoil. best for level or downslopes.
also, tires on these vehicles are narrow. low psi on wide tires work best in soft sand.
good vehicles btw!

the defender doesnt have enuf power for desert drivin 4.0 ltr V6 is the minumum needed to conquer the desert's unforgiving terrian

ask to the Arabians and Africans if they need big engines....
They will tell you that they prefer their land-rover and toyota Diesel to your 4 liter v6 engine.
Bigger is not better unless you think this because you don't know drive those "little" vehicles.
during WW2 they had jeep with trailers to fight in desert for the long range patrols and they were not crying "i need a 4 liter v6 minimum......"
In desert you need traction and more big tires that a big engine.

@Whimulder how much fuel would you need in this unforgiving terrain? desert driving is about maintaining momentum, and not digging down. NOT about spinning the wheels as much as possible, wasting fuel at every turn.
Get a clue, or stop talking about shit you don't know.
