  • ardrino?

    good video though

  • you using a Canon HF10 Camcorder? I ask because I have that same remote.

  • Search for your printer service manual here: refillbros com manuals

  • "we used this to print a replacment"...

    A-M A Z I N G!!!

  • i love the way your drink goes down

  • I'm a total newbie to all of this but is there a way to have the printer construct multiple objects on the same construction platform? I was thinking also you could have some sort of conveyor or sweeper arm to move finished objects off the platform and have other project queued and ready to go.

  • OMG, How long does it take to build enough of these to fill your yard, house and uncle's warehouse? I'm 12 and from England, but I'm damn smart. Could you help me build one? I subscribed. Are there any parts you could donate, I'll MP you my address.

  • Incredible,mind-blowing,amazing etc etc etc. But what are the implications of this on the economy 10-20 years down the line. The creative professions:designer, actor, artist, architect, inventor, will be the only ones still viable for humans to do. How will this effect society?

  • outstanding.

  • You wouldn't be selling any of those... would you?

  • can you change one of these to print circuit boards?

  • @Incrue I don't think the z axis would be consistent enough.

  • @Incrue I would think that the easiest way to print circuit boards would be to tape a board down to the build platform then put a sharpie marker in place of the extruder and have the thing draw the desired lines on the board. Then simply remove the board and etch it using (my favorite) hydrogen peroxide and hydrochloric acid, both of which are dirt cheap and available at drug stores and hardware stores. For bonus points, mount a dremel tool in the extruder location to drill the holes.

  • can you tell me how you made orignal printhead without any printed parts, the popler one. Pleaseeee

  • This gives us a lot of power, not the PEOPLE will truly own the means of production, no I am not a communist, but this is very empowering that people will soon be able to manufacture from their own homes. We will be our own bosses.

People will simple buy from each other, the market will be made up of individuals.

But we must beat the elites, the New World Order to prevent from losing this power. Knowledge is power, Technology is power, please protect this move into the future. visit infowars.com

  • Dude, this is sick! I have a Makerbot Thing-o-Matic coming hopefully before Xmas. What made you pick the Repraps over the Makerbots? Why do you like PLA over ABS plastic?

  • That is an excellent color of PLA, Might I ask where you purchased it? Is it MakerGear or Ultimachine?

  • @Karred2 I got the natural and green PLA from Ultimachine. I really like their products. Fast, smart, good quality.

  • Gavin,

Awesome video, reprap is moving fast, by posting your video and providing video's like this one you are providing your shoulders for others to stand on, Thank you very much, I'm looking forward to what you will come up with next.

  • @nts9

  • If you don't mind me asking where did you get the steppers from?

    there quite fast

  • @CleanEdgeProductions They are 28M035 Lin Engineering 4218L-01-10 bipolar stepper motors, but the place I bought them from no longer sells them. Take a look at the suppliers on reprap.org/wiki/Mendel_Stepping_Motors and see if you find some good ones that are still for sale.

  • what, did you print all the parts first, and then assemble? It looks like you printed a few parts and started assembly at high speed, and added parts as they were printed, except there's no printing going on with Darwin during your assembly.

  • @Petawatt you caught me. Ha. Yes, I printed all the parts first, then assembled. I guess I took a little too much artistic liberty on the cutting floor.

  • you make building a mendel look easy. I guess you sped through the 20+ hours of printing.

  • Amazing Video!! From repstrap to refined Mendel, so impressed! Keep up the good work!

  • Is it my imagination or the background computer voice repeats "open source is the future..."?

  • pretty helpful video. thanks and cheers!

  • congrats on making it on Hackaday

  • Very nice video!! Well made, and excellent job on the bot! You definitely have some talent when it comes to building, so keep up the great work, and show us more of what you make, I'm sure you'll be making many cool things!

  • That's just pornographic!

  • Gavin,

    great video!

In your video you mentioned Adrian's hot tip design. Any idea where I can purchase that hot end?

    You can contact me :

    moveaftermove at yahoo dot com

    Thankyou, once again!

  • @mariushermanbotha

The hot tip is still under development, and I don't think anyone is selling them right now.

You can read about the specs here: blog.reprap.org/2010/06/yet-another-extruder-nozzle.html

I made mine on my lathe, and I think Adrian did the same. I'll post more details on my blog once I verify it will last.

If you want more info on extruders in general, a source I go to a lot is hydraraptor.blogspot.com

  • great upgrade, I'm going to be making a polulu mendel myself in the near future.
