@jdbeo originally the 340 was designed as the long range version of the 330. It doesn't have the e-tops restrictions that the 330 has and can carry more payload. The 340-5/600 are extensions of that offering RR Trent 500 engines like you see in this film. The -500 is an ultra long range aircraft and the -600 is a stretched version offering more passengers and payload.
Goodness that was a long takeoff roll... I was wondering when it was going to lift off. I've seen a 747 do a takeoff roll in 20 seconds once the engines were at full power. Are the engines on a340's not strong?
@xxxlayxlowxxx not strong compared to B747 or B777; that was the main reason that A340 is more fuel efficient than B747: weaker engines and slower cruising speed. The B777-300 rendered the A340 and the B747 obsolete, yet didn't sacrifice much in engine power and cruising speed.
A little bit of wing flex right after take off. Nice. I love how the outer edge of the wing starts to rise as speed and lift increases. No doubt it wants to fly!
schöner langer Flieger, wenn man mal die Gelegenheit hat mit so einem Vogel zu fliegen soll man sich mal die zeit nehmen durchs ganze Flugzeug mal zu laufen weil es dass längste Flugzeug ist (A340/600)
@popeye1250 I will very much agree with you that the A340-200's and the A340-300's are underpowered. I think they need better engines. However, the A340-500/600's are not underpowered. They are both equipped with powerful Trent 500's that each produce 56000 pounds of thrust, or 60000 for the Trent 556 on the High Gross Weight versions of the aircraft. These give the aircraft plenty of thrust, and actually, based on the sound of the engines, I don't think this takeoff was using 100% thrust.
I like the buzz chain-saw of the Trents. Modern very high by-pass jets are - in effect - large propellors encased in - with blades breaking the sound barier.

@xxxlayxlowxxx these Trent 500's are rated at 56,000 lbs each, but it takes a while to take off when the ac. is full. Thanks for your comment

Those A-340's are underpowered. They need to come up with some new engines for them.
