Search Astrotheology for the real answer..... Sirius is the star, Orion's belt is the wise men and the sun is reborn on the winter solstice, the true meaning of Christmas.
Read Mt 2:9-11 carefully; the star leads them to the house where Jesus was staying. Since a heavenly body can't lead one to a specific house, the whole idea of finding a planet, star, etc is a waste of time. Substitute the word 'Bethlehem' for 'the place where the child was' in v 9. This makes no sense: V 11 'on coming to the house' refers to a house alluded to earlier in v 9. So 'the place where the child was' must mean 'the house in Bethlehem'.
Forget the star of bethleham. Let's talk about jesus. The story is is mythology, just like all the other stories of gods. It can be valuable, but only if you do not take it literally but, as metaphor, as it is intended.....
@geezusispan while a lot of the Bible is symbolic and reads like an epic myth, I think if you watch the whole presentation, you'll find that this part at least is a little bit more than just mythology. saying "forget the star of bethlehem" sounds like you're trying to sweep evidence under the rug...
Tony when you can say something intelligent let me know and please reference your remarks to something that can be addressed. What are you jibbering about?
@tegf4 yes, all astronomy software is extremely meticulous when it comes to dates. they also take into account the little-known ten days or so that were "skipped" in the 1500's (I think) to make up for a bunch of missed leap-years.
Here is a question, did the program take in the account that 10 days were removed from the 9 calender? • 10 days were dropped from the existing date: October 4th 1582 was followed by October 15, 1582.min if not then this is 10 days off, so it would be dec 14th that the wise men showed up.
This is an amazing video. What a tool to show! I recently stepped over the threshold to walk on the water with Jesus, my savior, my teacher. Incredible.
I think that Daniel in the bible had a school or attended a school where they studied the heavens. Thats where the wise men came from, from that school. They were watching and waiting. Why would a satan worshiper or something like that come to worship baby Jesus? Doesnt make sense.
I usually never order videos over the internet but your video spoke to me. Tonight my sons and daughter-in-law watched the video and my daughter-in-law, gave her heart to Jesus. Thank you for setting the stage, that this prayer would happen this evening. Bless you.
@Evangeline220 Because it makes stupid people even stupider. And it isn't a fear of the video, because it won't effect intelligent people, more of an annoyance for the idiocy of religious culture.
@Evangeline220 I am in favor of ending religion completely. But no I do not want to limit freedom, but I will speak up and explain to people how this video is empty pointless mythology that makes people less worthwhile people. That is my freedom of speech :)
@MrLycanthropy This is SCIENCE. Did you not see the scientific principles explained that can be found in any good astronomy book? Kepler, etc. I am in favor of ending atheism completely but people refuse to believe the truth so it won't end until Jesus returns and they have no choice. How could this make people less worthwhile? God sent his Son to save us--that sure shows us worthwhile. Evolution/atheism makes us worthless, nothing more than cells, accidents, etc.
@3nails3days1way None of that shit is Science, well...science is shown in the video, but not that supports any claims to jesus rising from the dead, or being born of a virgin. This is just another religious wackadoo with no life explaining his empty baseless book trying to use slight of hand and minor theories to connect religion and science. It's pointless rhetoric, but pointless rhetoric strong enough to convince stupid people that WANT to believe it from the start. Idiot...
@MrLycanthropy Here we go again. When someone who does not believe feels cornered, they use profanity and call names. Happens in 99.9% of my debates, and there have been many. I use facts, they use name calling. Shows they know nothing & how their world view in which they are god because in atheism they call the shots and answer to no one is worthless.
@MrLycanthropy You're right, this video makes no claims about Jesus rising from the dead or the virgin birth. But don't "throw the baby out with the bathwater." I was skeptical after watching this, so I checked everything on my own astronomy software. I found every single astronomical event he talks about, at the time and date he says. Parts of it might be wrong, but I think the odds of ALL of it being pure coincidence are extremely low. It should at least make you think.
@MrLycanthropy Did you watch the whole presentation, all 7 videos? Could you please explain to me why it is empty pointless mythology? I am not being sarcastic or anything (it's hard to convey tone through text like this); I am really interested in hearing which parts you disagree with. I try to keep an open mind and would like to hear an opinion "from the other side." If the 500 character limit is too restrictive, you can email me, just let me know :)
@courag1 That is such a wonderful blessing for your daughter-in-law. I would like to know how did you "order" the videos? I see her on you tube that there are 1-7. I want to have 1-7 all together so I can copy them on Dvds for my church. I just watched him on tv and looked him up. I hope you can help me. Thank you-Katrina :)
To all persons of scientifically enlightened, please answer my question.
Were there astronomers at the time, these people who wrote the bible who would have had the knowledge to describe all the constellations and movement of stars as per in the book of revelation?
@enlightenment2u greetings, you are exactly right witch bring us to the important question from where they got this knowledge from God? or from diffrent source? like dajjal or satan or devil you name it whatever you need
@enlightenment2u Romans 1 makes it clear man has no excuse to not Believe in God, there is overwhelming evidence for God, the Bible and Jesus' life, death burial and resurrection. People just don't take the time to learn b/c it does take time, but it's incredible what you will find God Yahweh Holds the Key to everything he is Infinite.
@enlightenment2u No, they did not have an accurate knowledge regarding star movement and such. They had an extremely primitive explanation on what the stars were. Their theories were that the Earth was the center of the universe under a dome of stars. They also believed the stars and the Earth were held up by pillars and had no real knowledge regarding what stars really are (gas planets or suns in far away galaxies).
@Eirikofs True, but be clear, the Zoroastrians and other middle eastern scholars had cataloged the stars and studied their movements from ancient times. The oldest written record is from the Greek almost 300 BC. It's clear from the context that the names and meanings were old even then.
@Eirikofs You're absolutely wrong when you say that they knew nothing about the movement of the stars and planets. That was the one thing they COULD observe and record (and eventually predict)! A huge number of ancient structures align with astronomical events such as solstices and equinoxes. I'd be willing to bet that the average person back then knew a heck of a lot more about the night sky than the average person today. Besides campfire stories, it was their only entertainment.
@tylerfh2012 I can see why you object, but there is no denying that a lot of their fundamental understandings of the movements of the stars were wrong. The geometric model they worked with drastically restricted their potential astronomical knowledge. If you mean that the average person back then knew more about what they THEN thought to be true, you might be right, but most of their ideas and models were still incorrect.
@Eirikofs you're right, they had no idea whatsoever WHY the heavenly bodies moved as they did or what they actually were, but they were quite knowledgeable about WHERE they moved. all they had to do was watch, record, and notice patterns, and people had been doing that for hundreds if not thousands of years before this time.
@enlightenment2u The Stars were used primarily for Time/Season Calculations and also pagan Ritual Ceremonies. Astrotheology explains a lot of what was known about Astronomy and Astrology, and the meanings that people associated with characters and events.
These are all subject to interpretation and I won't judge anyone as to what is right for them. It is their choice by freewill.
An interesting documentary is "Dangerous Knowledge" looking at the question of GOD from the position of pure Science
@37livesDoc Since you haven't watched "Dangerous Knowledge" and assumed it was Anti theistic, there is nothing to respond to. Take your knee jerk know it all attitude and your willingness to defraud another and move on. Thank You.
There were astronomers in Egypt and Babylon BEFORE the buybull was written. try studying some history, it's common knowledge... There are stone monuments that capture a ray of light ONLY on the Winter Solstice that pre-date even the pyramids, and the pyramids are aligned with the constellation Orion's belt
@enlightenment2u31 “Can you bind the chains of the Pleiades? Can you loosen Orion’s belt? Can you bring forth the constellations in their seasons or lead out the Bear with its cubs? Do you know the laws of the heavens? Can you set up God’s dominion over the earth?" - Job 38:31-33 - By most historical accounts, Job is dated between the 6th and 4th centuries BC, written before the book of Genesis. This makes it the earliest book to be written in the Bible, in it are names of constellations.
@enlightenment2u not just constellations, names of constellations. There was indeed knowledge of constellations and star patterns way before the Magi even existed.
