  • @ryanexsus youre a tool. all the soul in the world wont let you pick up a guitar and play a song if you cant play

  • Comment removed

  • @ryanexsus do it on the accordion then if its that easy... the fact is that if you dont know the chords soul doesn't help

  • Comment removed

  • @ryanexsus i highly doubt that, i mean seriously.... i am not saying it is a hard song to play i am just saying basic chord knowledge comes before soul in playing music

  • I'm glad I saw this the night it aired, this song has haunted me ever since.

  • We chase misprinted lies

  • just plain beautiful music!! thank you alice in chains!!

  • This song reminds me of one of my best friends who's not with us anymore. Still brings a tear to my eye everytime I hear this

  • Dear speedballs, you killed layne, Chris, and John. Fuck you!

  • @shakakamooroar He did that to himself, as a personal choice. He would have been suffering far beyond imaginable by the sounds of his life and would have been using drugs to cope with it.

    Don't judge before you understand.

  • @Lariea i understand, i used to do drugs a while back, i was just sayin.......

  • @shakakamooroar Damn right, dude.

  • @shakakamooroar A fine sentiment, dude.

  • Awesome!!!

  • Layne...R.I.P

    RIP Layne Staley

  • IF I CAN'T BE MY OWN, I'D FEEL BETTER DIED, what a line... very simple yet blowinggg, rare to find songwriters like these now days RIP layne

  • Such a powerful voice yet it seems he's putting hardly any effort into it. Layne can't be replaced that's for sure.

  • god i cant get over how much this song touches me. it makes me cry almost. rip layne stayley.

  • same thing happens to me....i just cry ...not almost

  • i never understood how come when a band loses a main man it just does'nt replace him and change its name..will never be AIC without lanye.the voice was one of a kind, scant be replaced.......hear jerry is doing something with elton john..lol

  • ...best song ever...r.i.p. Layne...

  • second that, best song ever.

It's been my favorite song since that day of 94'. RIP Layne Staley

  • I started listening to AIC just a while back and i wish i could have known them alot sooner. I would have loved to see Layne in concert. Amazing voice, amazing music.

  • Happy birthday Layne, you will be remembered always. In a nutshell you were a one and only."If i would, could you?"

    RIP

  • @lee1whufc heroin doesn't rot you teeth captain fucktard.

  • @dimebad yes sir it does decay your teeth... sorry to say your ignorant im in the dental field.... coke, meth, heroin, huffing..... fucks your shit up my friend!

  • i just heard alice in chains for the first time a few days ago. the song was would? and i god damn loved it.

  • AIC is an amazing fuckin band. Let me stress old AIC (with Layne) is all you should listen to. New AIC isn't AIC at all. His vocals/depth/ lyrics made AIC. That cannot be replaced by anyone.

  • It's magic. Love.

  • +1 Woo Dpenis

  • hands down best live/ unplugged album EVER!!!!

never gets old just gets better....

  • what was the beginning who was singing?

  • I heard that when they found Layne Staley he only weighed 86 pounds. that was the saddest thing I ever heard.

  • lol is that good or bad?

  • Similar effect to Heroin

  • beautiful stuff i love alice in chains and this such an emotional song.you should check out a songwiter called barry mccann and his song memory box and sea of souls which is obviously influenced by this i didnt realise until now i alice in chains for life barry mccann for life rip layne staley

  • My gift of self is raped

    My privacy is raked

    And yet I find

    And yet I find

    Repeating in my head

If I can't be my own

    I'd feel better dead

    :(

    Que canción... RIP Layne Stanley

  • i lovvveeeee this song!!

  • This has got to be the best intro I've ever heard. Way to go Alice in Chains. I love this song.

  • my heart explodes with each note it feels like dying as i listen to this song, yet this is my favorite song of all time, it will be played at my funeral. I wish i could just write so amazingly as Layne did, R.I.P. Layne Staley

  • nádherná, hluboká písnička v geniálním provedením se skvělým layneho hlasem

    100% emoce

    škoda ho

snad je mu aspoň teď líp

  • played guitar 19 years now

  • Aron is a awesome singer, but Layne was unique, no one like it, music ain't just about music, that you will learn if you play your self. Feelings is most of it and you feel the pain in his songs so much. But again learn to play and come back and criticise, if you just a blind listener then don't waste my time.

  • this is my favorite song by aic just because i can relate so much to it. last time i heard it i bawled like a baby when he got to the part of and yet i fight this battle all alone

  • I loved Layne...I feel awful he lost his upper teeth due to his addiction....look, and you will not see them...he lost them 1 year earlier..

  • It's a shame Layne is no longer with us. Such a talent

  • Aaron Lewis vs Layne. Thats just a waste of time. Aaron is capable, but juxtapose them and its quite obvious Layne has so many layers.

Fans who prefer Staind/A Lewis etc are likely a bit younger, and did't see Alice back in the early 90s. They were just intimidating, really fucking intimidating.

There hasn't been anything like them since. Everything they have produced is rich

  • I was too young to hear alice in chains when I was growing up, but I discovered them a few years back and they are absolutely amazing.

    Staind vs AiC?

Not sure there is a clear winner there. Each band is unique to it's own style. Yes, they do put similar emotion into their music... but it's not emo. It's rock through and through.

  • that was the most retarded fucking thing i ever heard. Aaron Lewis is one of my favortie singers but He has nothing on Layne. Im sorry but you are fucking dumb

  • OK I like love the lyrics to this song, but does anyone else agree that this would make a great instrumental?

  • i hate the intro thing before the video

  • me too...

  • me three. why put your logo on someone else's material?? just because you uploaded it? wtf

  • me four.....i thought it was just this recording...turns out its on all of em...lmao, but the unplugged version is wicked.

  • Hey the intro thing was the start of a national tv show, mtv unplugged. Did you want a flash start

  • @rrmmstein2003 me too

  • You can have people giving you compliments and genuinely caring about you, but you can still feel the emptiness inside especially if you used to feel it for a long time.

  • welcome to my world.....

  • We chase misprinted lies, we face the path of time and yet i fight, yet i fight this battle all alone

  • I miss layne

  • This song is one of only a few that can actually bring a tear to my eye.

  • @AbraCadaver09 yeah i just almost had that.

  • I'm a huge AIC fan and a Pearl Jam , Nirvana, STP fan , etc....but gotta say this Unplugged is so awesome... my fav of all time...has and will be for years...the whole show is amazing.....

  • yup also think this is the best unplugged show from all the grunge bands.

  • at first i was a bit upset that you went away layne, but now i'm thinking we're the ones laggin behind. i can't say i'm afraid of meeting you and hearing new material when the time comes... til then brother.....

  • Great song; I think its one of the underrated ones out there that really have gotten overshadowed by other bands (such as Nirvana) and songs.

  • this is the best of the best<33 rip layne<3

  • If I can't be my own, I'd feel better dead !

  • wow i get emotional everytime i hear this :(

  • i know his voice just soothes you and brings out a weird sensitive, but yet sad side of you.

kinda makes you miss Layne even more.

  • we all miss you layne... :(

  • .. layne(L)

  • layne was the man.

  • Went and saw Seether the other night with my Brother and girlfriend, they played broken then went right into a cover of this. It was amazing. My brother got alittle emotional, this is one of his all time favorite songs he used to sing with a buddy in highschool. He never expected to hear this performed live ever. BTW it was a very good cover.

  • Second favorite alice in chains song <3

  • it still hurts when I listen to this song - pure magic

  • you are right, layne's story is truly a sad one. any heroin addiction is sad; except my own, because, well, it's my own and if i cant be my own, i'd feel better dead. genius said that once.

  • No, the band (at least jerry cantrell) was very supportive. Check out the song where layne messes up (i think sludge factory)... after he messes up, he looks at jerry, who says "it's ok." he just had so many demons, and got so lost in heroin... a truly sad story.

  • lovelayne4ever had a right. Layne was alone. It's very sad for me. He was such a great singer. And what? Nobody from aic and family loved him, nobody cared.... :|

  • fn sad my man

  • the world lost an amazing singer when layne died

  • the best song ever

  • Favorite song.

  • "and yet i find and yet i find repeating in my head, if i can't be my own i'd feel better dead" those are some of the most incredible lyrics i have ever heard.. one of my good friends just got a tattoo that says it.. R.I.P Layne.

  • Very moving song, brings tears to my eyes everytime I hear it. Addiction is a very powerful demon. You can love your family, your friends, your hobbies, but without love for yourself the demon will ultimately drag you into the darkness. As God is my witness I will continue to fight, I will not allow the demon to consume me. I will continue to fight.

RIP Layne your music inspires me more than you could ever know.

    Godspeed my friend

  • @gregm89 you can find a friend in me!!!

  • @gregm89 That's beautiful :)

  • @gregm89 ive been fighting the demon for 2 years i hear ya brother stay strong

  • this song gives shivers down my spine. Its so surreal with feeling, touches me deeply.

  • so sad, this was right before he died i think

words can't describe the power in the song

  • It was not right before - the unplugged is from 1996. and he died in 2002. - but he was already very much hooked up on heroin. RIP Layne - one of the most talented and unique voices that ever touched my soul...

  • ur probably thinkin about Kurt Cobain

  • "if i cant be my own id feel beter dead" great fucking lyrics man, rest in peace layne

  • Layne was amazing...beyond words..

  • Anyone who has ever felt low can relate to this song; Jerry's guitar, Sean's drums, Mike's bass and those vocals... a life saver from a man who lost his. RIP Layne, and thank you for what you left us.

  • you know i think the bass is just completly awesome in combination with the rest! his voice is so dirty in a good way

  • This song brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it. I wish Layne was still here so I could tell him how much his music means to me. I think that is what he was missing in his life. RIP Layne Staley

  • its a great song and layne has such an excellent voice. But i guess in one aspect we were lucky that layne had lived for so long battling heroin as i have heard he did start using heroin in the late 80's and got into drugs at the age of 13.

  • The whole story is awesome. Jerry was such a good friend to Layne too, even to the end. Not that Sean and Mike weren't, but Jerry was always there for him, and I think it's worth giving credit where credit's due

  • If Jerry, Sean and Mike were such good friends to Layne, then why hadn't they talked to him for weeks before his death..He died on 4/5 and family didn't find him until 4/20? He was alone..even in death!! Cantrell sucks!!

  • sean kinney said that he went to layne´s home several times trying to talk to him but he didn´t came out to open the door

  • Yeah people say shit about it like "oh if he was a real friend he would've helped him get clean".

It's just not that simple... if only it was.

  • this song touches everyone

who ever says this song sucks doesnt mean it

    truly amazing

    we all miss u layne

  • hauntingly beautiful voice...I'll never forget you Layne! makes my top 5 best voices/artists of all time. Awesome song.

  • fucking great

  • this song makes me sad. but his voice sounds so great live.

  • i really wish people could just chill out on here and enjoy the music. Why offend people by putting stuff like that?

  • What do You Mean?

(ps.i dont mean this in a pissy way.)

  • This is so hard to watch...

    RIP Layne.

  • iv been looking for a song with layne stalley all i could find is the new guy

  • best fuckin rock band...... bitches

  • it still hurts, after all this time.

  • layne was better live than in studio i think

  • Beatiful.

  • what an awesome song. great performance. r.i.p layne. what a talent

  • Simply Amazing...

  • This is their best song, I think.

    Totally introspective.

    Fuckin' great lyrics and sound.

I listen to this one before my competitions when I've trained/dieted for 4 months straight.

  • RIP LAyne.

This was their best song, by far.

  • i always cry when i listen to this song.

    rip layne

    i miss you

  • eles sao os melhores..........

  • best song

  • i remember this song was playing when my radio alarm went off. that was the first time i heard it. after hearing it i really didn't wake to get up. not a song to start your day to, but an excellent night time mellow

  • how come no one remembers Shannon hoon his right up there whit Andrew wood Layne and cobain when it comes to amazing dead grunge era vocalist

god i love this song so pure

  • Shannon Hoon The Lead Vocals For Blind Melon He Had A Wicked Voice, But My Favorite Would Have To Be Layne Staley! Seems Alot Of The Great Vocalist Died Too Young, Nutshell Is A Gr8 Song!

  • For me lane staley, vedder ou cornell are the best for the music in two last's decate....

  • Poor old Lane. We lost him so long after the so-called "grunge movement" was over, I don't think people really remembered him as they should have. He really was one of the greats, right up there with Kobain, Vetter, and Cornell.

  • RIP Lane Staley <'3 He was the best, no one can ever replase him. Love this song <3

  • very very good song from alice in chains

  • Wait when did he die

  • He died April 5th, 2002, exactly 8 years after Kurt Cobain died

  • amazing song

  • just great RIP layne
