ultiamte guitar has a GREAT tab of this song, The chords area little off, But i combine the tab and the chord together to get a pretty good sound from my guitar. Just thought you guys might wanna know.
@ryanexsus i highly doubt that, i mean seriously.... i am not saying it is a hard song to play i am just saying basic chord knowledge comes before soul in playing music
@shakakamooroar He did that to himself, as a personal choice. He would have been suffering far beyond imaginable by the sounds of his life and would have been using drugs to cope with it.
i never understood how come when a band loses a main man it just does'nt replace him and change its name..will never be AIC without lanye.the voice was one of a kind, scant be replaced.......hear jerry is doing something with elton john..lol
I started listening to AIC just a while back and i wish i could have known them alot sooner. I would have loved to see Layne in concert. Amazing voice, amazing music.
@dimebad yes sir it does decay your teeth... sorry to say your ignorant im in the dental field.... coke, meth, heroin, huffing..... fucks your shit up my friend!
AIC is an amazing fuckin band. Let me stress old AIC (with Layne) is all you should listen to. New AIC isn't AIC at all. His vocals/depth/ lyrics made AIC. That cannot be replaced by anyone.
beautiful stuff i love alice in chains and this such an emotional song.you should check out a songwiter called barry mccann and his song memory box and sea of souls which is obviously influenced by this i didnt realise until now i alice in chains for life barry mccann for life rip layne staley
my heart explodes with each note it feels like dying as i listen to this song, yet this is my favorite song of all time, it will be played at my funeral. I wish i could just write so amazingly as Layne did, R.I.P. Layne Staley
Aron is a awesome singer, but Layne was unique, no one like it, music ain't just about music, that you will learn if you play your self. Feelings is most of it and you feel the pain in his songs so much. But again learn to play and come back and criticise, if you just a blind listener then don't waste my time.
this is my favorite song by aic just because i can relate so much to it. last time i heard it i bawled like a baby when he got to the part of and yet i fight this battle all alone
Aaron Lewis vs Layne. Thats just a waste of time. Aaron is capable, but juxtapose them and its quite obvious Layne has so many layers.
Fans who prefer Staind/A Lewis etc are likely a bit younger, and did't see Alice back in the early 90s. They were just intimidating, really fucking intimidating.
There hasn't been anything like them since. Everything they have produced is rich
I was too young to hear alice in chains when I was growing up, but I discovered them a few years back and they are absolutely amazing.
Staind vs AiC?
Not sure there is a clear winner there. Each band is unique to it's own style. Yes, they do put similar emotion into their music... but it's not emo. It's rock through and through.
that was the most retarded fucking thing i ever heard. Aaron Lewis is one of my favortie singers but He has nothing on Layne. Im sorry but you are fucking dumb
You can have people giving you compliments and genuinely caring about you, but you can still feel the emptiness inside especially if you used to feel it for a long time.
I'm a huge AIC fan and a Pearl Jam , Nirvana, STP fan , etc....but gotta say this Unplugged is so awesome... my fav of all time...has and will be for years...the whole show is amazing.....
at first i was a bit upset that you went away layne, but now i'm thinking we're the ones laggin behind. i can't say i'm afraid of meeting you and hearing new material when the time comes... til then brother.....
Sé, estoy tan triste que América perdió uno de sus cantantes más grandes, los hombres, y los artistas. Estuvo fue uno de los vocalistas más entendida mal misterioso y mas humorísticos de todo tiempo.
Went and saw Seether the other night with my Brother and girlfriend, they played broken then went right into a cover of this. It was amazing. My brother got alittle emotional, this is one of his all time favorite songs he used to sing with a buddy in highschool. He never expected to hear this performed live ever. BTW it was a very good cover.
you are right, layne's story is truly a sad one. any heroin addiction is sad; except my own, because, well, it's my own and if i cant be my own, i'd feel better dead. genius said that once.
No, the band (at least jerry cantrell) was very supportive. Check out the song where layne messes up (i think sludge factory)... after he messes up, he looks at jerry, who says "it's ok." he just had so many demons, and got so lost in heroin... a truly sad story.
lovelayne4ever had a right. Layne was alone. It's very sad for me. He was such a great singer. And what? Nobody from aic and family loved him, nobody cared.... :|
"and yet i find and yet i find repeating in my head, if i can't be my own i'd feel better dead" those are some of the most incredible lyrics i have ever heard.. one of my good friends just got a tattoo that says it.. R.I.P Layne.
Very moving song, brings tears to my eyes everytime I hear it. Addiction is a very powerful demon. You can love your family, your friends, your hobbies, but without love for yourself the demon will ultimately drag you into the darkness. As God is my witness I will continue to fight, I will not allow the demon to consume me. I will continue to fight.
RIP Layne your music inspires me more than you could ever know.
It was not right before - the unplugged is from 1996. and he died in 2002. - but he was already very much hooked up on heroin. RIP Layne - one of the most talented and unique voices that ever touched my soul...
Anyone who has ever felt low can relate to this song; Jerry's guitar, Sean's drums, Mike's bass and those vocals... a life saver from a man who lost his. RIP Layne, and thank you for what you left us.
This song brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it. I wish Layne was still here so I could tell him how much his music means to me. I think that is what he was missing in his life. RIP Layne Staley
its a great song and layne has such an excellent voice. But i guess in one aspect we were lucky that layne had lived for so long battling heroin as i have heard he did start using heroin in the late 80's and got into drugs at the age of 13.
The whole story is awesome. Jerry was such a good friend to Layne too, even to the end. Not that Sean and Mike weren't, but Jerry was always there for him, and I think it's worth giving credit where credit's due
If Jerry, Sean and Mike were such good friends to Layne, then why hadn't they talked to him for weeks before his death..He died on 4/5 and family didn't find him until 4/20? He was alone..even in death!! Cantrell sucks!!
i remember this song was playing when my radio alarm went off. that was the first time i heard it. after hearing it i really didn't wake to get up. not a song to start your day to, but an excellent night time mellow
