There rockabilly element is still there, but remember every revival band takes from their own time period and their time was the 80's therefore the new wavish sound. Listen to the Stray Cats "Elvis on Velvet" or The Quakes (which I know is not really considered rockabilly but they have alot of songs that mix the new wave element with rockabilly).

I hadn't seen this video for many years until I got the footage and posted this, but the image of the blonde girl with the long curly hair at 2:31 and 3:05 has been in my head for about 24 years. Only a few seconds but what a cutie she was. This is classic stuff. The Rockats were great.

Slight correction: The blonde on the right of the screen is MaryAnne, Barry's ex-wife. The blonde at the back is Gail Higgins, Smutty's ex-wife and former Heartbreakers road manager. Between them is Mimi, Gail's younger sister or cousin (I forget). She headed the fan club.
