  • excellent video

  • you guys watching this should watch THE SECRET!. ;] its a good movie

  • they do putthe lifter at a great increase for chance of injury.stick to basics sets, maybe throw in some drop sets on your last set.

  • WHAT A DUMBASS! DONT DO F FORCED REPS!

  • will remain relatively low.

  • of the cycle.it will nearly always involve exercises to address technical problems as well,or at least exercises that continue to improve the athletes technical execution of the competition lifts.the competition lifts themselves should not be excluded except for infrequent and brief periods[ e.g.a week] because of the need to maintain technique, speed consistency and confidence, but in this phase they will account for only a small amount of the total training volume.and loading on average

  • and power but a relative inability to apply these qualities to the snatch and clean and jerk[my pick]possesses a disparity in ability that needs to be adressed.in such a case, emphasis on strength development with inadequate development of specific strength and power application is a misuse of training time.this type of training will be built around basic strength exercises such as squats, deadlifts and pulls, and presses with planned variation of loading and volume to produce gains over the term

  • the need for strength and power increase is infinite,as this is overwhelmingly what improvement in weighlifting will consist of once technical proficency has been achieved.its often said that theres no such thing as too strong.this statement does not require qualification in this case, however.greater strength and power are always needed, but disparity between general strength and specific application needs to be considered when planning an athletes training.that is,a lifter with excellent strengh

  • such nice teeth lol

  • I fucking love this guy. He's sharing stuff he's learned thorugh years of practice, for free, on youtube!

  • This is true! I love this guy! I'm gonna download the iPhone App just to support him. Don't forget to subscribe!

  • everything is not mental. actually your body is doing the work. if I shoot you at your forehead and you think oh my forehead is so strong that bullet can't kill me, that MENTAL preparation will never work. So everything is NOT ONLY mental. Body is involved too. if you are MENTALLY prepared, can you lift an elephant ??

  • @angeloimmanuel

You didn't get what he said. Your comparisons are ridiculous and close to idiotic. He wasn't talking about being mentally prepared to suddenly gain superhuman strenght.

I love the 5 pound dumbell example by the way. Good video.

  • no it creates secure lift

  • Scott, i have sleeping problems, can I still be strong?

  • Was that a hint of Jersey accent when he said 'force' and 'partner'?

  • Everyone is saying Ronny Coleman bla bla But partially what he saying about it all in the mind is true!!!!!

  • PUT A FUCKING SHIRT ON

  • @MrPrestige94 FUCK OFF

  • @MrPrestige94 stop being jealous

  • This is how it works, your body notices "Oh shit hes lifting more then i can normally handle, i gotta increase my output so he can lift this easier next time hes in the gym" it kinda like when your say running away from a killer you think ah man i gotta keep running till i cant go anymore, then you run faster then you ever have before becasue your body notices your rush.. food for though(:

  • The other day, I look at a eighty pound dumbbell and thought "Eighty pounds, that's nothing" so I took it and started doing wrist curls..I snapped all my shit up.

  • do a video on psycho active pre-workout drinks thats how you connect your mind to your body!

  • Just like Ronnie Coleman says... "Light Weight!".. and he benches like 220 per arm lol.

  • @amineaiffa LIGHT WEIGHT BAAAAAAAAAAABAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!

  • fag

  • I bet you know all about forced repetitions...

  • Scott you're such a baller, thanks for everything.

  • i almost broke my arm with 30 kg dumbells dude dont try that in gym !

  • @milotist my boy can :D:D, but he workouts alot and for years

  • @UnderCoverStrongGirl than your boy is tough babe ;)<3

  • Users should ignore the trolls, they comment not just on youtube videos, but in chat groups & articles on yahoo & all over the web. The troll's only goal is to enrage users, so they post back replies in huge numbers, then they will sit back only responding on rare occasion to keep things going. This is called fanning the flames, they will then sit back as users go back & forth, just watching all the action. By responding to their vile comments, you feed their agenda. Its better to ignore them.

  • I have been using the net since it was dial up only without graphics, sound, video, etc, & 1200 kilobytes per second was a fast connection speed. I have seen hateful, sick, & vile users since back in the late 80s, & nothing has changed. Such users feel their anonymity gives them the freedom to say whatever hateful thing they wish, of which they would never say or do in public. These folks hate speaks volumes of their own insecurity, immaturity, they must tear down another to feel good.

  • well i dont know about you people but before i start my strench and get the gym on my home i see this video think twice about it and i get a great motivation on doing gym =) ty scott =P

  • totally true what you just said !

  • Scott's a cool guy. Subscribed.

  • Excellent advice. Thank you very much :)

  • 11 flies and bees disliked the video

  • 80 pounds dumbell, its easy for u, not for everyone lolz..

  • @Arpit4063 ... You totally just missed the point of what the whole video was about...

  • @GodOnStrike thanks for your concern, but may be i couldnt express myself correctly

  • @Arpit4063 thats exactly what hes telling you not to do you piece of shit!

  • @PokeMan995 I love my haters....

  • Can't give 5 stars anymore Scott, but I give you my "like" with pleasure!;)

  • like ronnie coleman said "LIGHTWEIGHT!"

  • This video is very informative. Thanks for posting!

  • Thanks for this advice Scott! Now I've learned the power of the mind! Mind over matter they say. I started bench pressing only 50 lbs but when I learned about this philisophy I can now bench 132 lbs for 5 reps. I'm 17 and I weigh 145 lbs..is that too light or just okay?

  • im commenting from houston, tx bro and thats very true, dudes at the gym always look at me when they see me work out regularly with 5 plates on each side of the bar, especially when i only weigh 90 lbs, and 2 feet tall.. its all mental man so just because the dumbells look super huge dont think you'll never be able to hit them. it takes mental focus and a triple shot of noxipro.

  • OMG, you should never do forced reps unless you're on steroids. Forced reps is how you overtrain and injure. If you're natural, never do forced reps. Injury is inevitable with forced reps. Tool.

  • @grandwizardman5504 Why's he a faggot? he's just giving out some helpfull tips to get stronger and you call him a faggot? sounds like your abit jealous.

  • why does he not have a collar bone? somehow i see muscled guys that are very big but you see the collar bone, other people that are also very muscular or normal you can not see it? is this just big bones or am i super skinny?

  • Real World Man Not So Smart.

  • thanks for the advice...how about a routine of it...im more into strength than having a lean body or big muscles..can you hook a brother up? please!

  • Yayy Scott herman

  • belief on my self?????? that is all i belief on

  • there's some motivation. thanks Scott

  • I will try this, I hope youre right!!

  • you motivated the crap outta me lol that was my biggest problem...not anymore

  • 80 pounds, pufffff, thats easy.couldnt even lift the thing.

  • I forgot to tell it didnt go that well...

  • Im going to the gym now. Im gonna just laugh at the 80 pound dumbbells!! I'll tell how it went in a few hours.

  • Why havn't you taken over the world yet.

  • 5 people do not have the mental capacity to push their bodies to their maxes

  • Nice work Scott you have mentally clear to lift heavy and gain that what i say as well. Great videos brother.

  • "it's all mental" - now thats true. not just for the gym but for life. thx for the post scott ;)

  • all hermanities are OPTIMISTIC ! PUMp for it nation !

  • love this guy

  • is it wrong to say that im a guy and i want a body like yours?

  • wow thx u actually helped me. I can dumbell press 70 pounds now because i put my mind to say "i can do it " and u helped me thanks. oh and yes 70 pounds and im 15 ;D

  • bro your the best. just saw your video about drinking water just HAD to get some water after i got done watching it. you know what the deal is with weightlifting. good work dude, ill be learning from you from now on.

  • This is great advice. Probably one of the missing keys to training to increase strength. Everyone thinks that in order to get stronger you need to gain muscle mass but the key here is what you said...mental. There is no scientific explanation for the intangible forces that are created when the mind connects and activates the muscles to lift weight that overcomes doubt. Good stuff.

  • Forced repetitions are the worst enemy when your trying to gain STRENGHT. Jeez, you even know what you're talking about?

  • @LibertyWaxlips are you retarded

  • @nschroeder21 No but I think you are.

  • @LibertyWaxlips why is it your worst enemy?

  • @nschroeder21 Impairs recovery due to its demanding nature towards nervous system. Iäd much rather add weight steadily and increase volume every now and then than use this kind of Mike Mentzer nonsense that only seems to appeal to people who think 'oh the last rep causes pain pain causes strength pain is hardcore'.

  • @LibertyWaxlips i see what your saying. its just two different kinds of strength

  • Thanks Scott. This will help

  • great video. you are totally right . The mind has this incredible power that we humans haven't even mastered yet. It's all up to you to do incredible things .

  • you are.... THE MAN!!! :)

  • @RonnieN107 FAG

  • @omfg450 eat shit?

  • nice man, and you remind me Chuck Greenie ,lol nice ;]

  • LOL , when you kill the fly

  • "I hate quotations. Tell me what you know." Ralph Waldo Emerson

  • Yeah, good bro-science there bro! Except here's the real science:

Forced negatives are good for plateau-busting, doing them too often will damage your tendons, aka INJURY.

It's all about your Central Nervous System. Those guys who don't look strong but are strong are so because they train their CNS, not their muscles.

Training for strength gives you strength. 3x5, compounds only, every other day (need 1 day rest between, but you want it often), & avoid failure

    Strength&Size? 5x5 is good.

  • @MyTemporaryAccount88 Thank god your the first person to know what they're talking about on youtube on building strength! Low rep higher weight in large compounds is the way to go in building strength. Building strength has more to do with plyometrics than your standard gym exercises which simply push a weight 10 times, fast paced explosive movements such as clean and jerks are better to do to gain more muscular strength; Then when happy with strength you can start body building exercises again

  • this is a bit useless video, why: Because everyone in the gym forces their last repetitions, except for those not wanting to give it all... We all do it, and dont encourage people to do more weight than what they can do, that way they are not going to get to ther 6th rep and could end up in a serious injury...

  • Great Video! Nice straight forward good advice

  • Mike Mentzer said 'If you think think you can't get any more reps, if someone put a gun to your head, you'd soon get a couple more'.

  • "its all menthol" Im just kidding

  • great advice their...

  • You talk truth my brother! I am not the biggest person in the gym but when i compare the weight i lift and the weight my friends lift for example the benchpress, i stick out with my head and shoulders. I just wish i was a bit bigger though.. Cant seem to develop my pecs very well even though they pack a lot of power..

  • thanks man...am gonna do this magic

  • so are you saying i can bench 600 pounds if i just believe in myself?

  • @MattMathieu25 Thats not what he's sayin, he's just giving you a very extreme example of mind over matter. I've got another example. I used to bench with a spotter and my limit before i stopped working out was 100 kg 6-8 reps. The 8th would bearly work. 1 day i was training alone and decided to bench, and i put up 100 kg on the bench press and i just focused on the bar and got mad at it. I pressed it 10 times, alone.

  • why is this fag shirtless?

  • @PAKETEMON Because he has something to show off, something you cant relate to. And how do you get that out that he's a fag ? He gets more pussy per week than you get your whole life.

  • @TheDezmona I think you want to fuck him? Most beef cakes are closet cases, it's a fact!

  • @TheDezmona where listening to his voice not his chest! hes probably gay

  • @lushferdy What if he were gay?

Does that make him a worse person? Does it make him weak, lame? No.

It's just those fucking religion fags who get people to dislike gays.

    Are you a religifag ?

  • Comment removed

  • Scott has millions of fans. If they knew he was gay they probably would follow him anymore. So yes being gay makes a huge difference because guys dont want to follow a fag, they want to follow a real man. And no im not religous!!

  • @TheDezmona now now, why would you support a gay person but go against a straight person..?? now that makes no freaking sense. i dont see gays standing up for straight people.

  • @lolloveboylol And standing up for a person and going against a fucking virgin troll who lives in a fucking basement who would burn like a vampire in the sunlight.

  • @PAKETEMON why is he always shirtless in every single one of his videos....because hes in love with himself

  • lol

  • Here's the equation to convert real fitness into YouTube fitness:

    (Reality) real 1 rep. max = real 1 rep. max + 90 pounds + 5 reps (YouTube)

  • This is true, sometimes I pick up a weight and I'm like oh shit this is heavy. Then I get into position and I'm like "I can do this, it's easy" then suddenly I bang out 4-6 reps. It's like digging down for that inner strength when u know if u drop the weight you're failing yourself.

  • i read it........IN A BOOK

  • You are a fucking legend!!! Soon to become my 1st favourite bodybuilder and role model. Scooby1961 is first.

  • Dear Scott

Is it smart to do Forced Repetitions if you're still an amateur (6months of fitness)

Or should i just continue and wait a bit till i use this technique?

  • @mootj3 scooby is a homo douchebag with saggy tits.

  • Me: 80 lbs? Psshh.. easy. *rolls back* *squish*

  • Hey man, im 15 and I weight 140 pounds. I dumbell press 87.5 eachside so 175 pounds total. I always work out with a spotter and when he spots me most of the time hes not even touching my elbows to help me get them up. when I work out with a spotter I dont do nearly as much as that. YOUR ADVICE ITS TRUE MAN IT DOES HELP! :)

  • i really want to be bigger, ive spent 17 years being the skinny guy, i would kill for a body like yours but i stuggle to get motivated and my diet is really really poor :/ i dont know what to do

  • @L0o0o0o0o0o0L get off your ass and work.

  • Adding HIT principles such as forced reps to the volume training routines this guy recommends is a big mistake, even HIT trainers use them sparingly as it's a sure way to over train.

If your trying to gain muscular body weight you'd be better following an abbreviated routine as recommended by the likes of Stuart McRobert.

The keys principles are basic exercises, progressive poundage increases and low volume, coupled with plenty of recovery.

  • That's a pretty cool concept. Thanks for sharing

  • IM 25 6"1 170 pounds ive been working out for about 10 months and its the best thing ive ever done for myself.and your attitude towords working out is bang on man,

  • you are good broo

  • Good explanation....Its jus 80 cottonballs to me,, i got this!!.

  • idk why but you scoot remind me of sean faris

  • "Gotcha"

  • Im here in Hollywood, CA and i know what you mean... guys always look at me weird because i put 3 plates on each side on the bench press barbell and do about 6-8 reps.. especially since i only weigh 154 pounds..

Ive been watching your videos and your dead on with all of your advice. Good stuff bro.

    Keep it up

  • @kingkwalker Thanks man and wow! thats POWER!! keep it up!

  • @ScottHermanFitness

    Lightweight baby!!

btw scott, I'm trying the foundation pack (no explode nitrix and celmass) any tips?

Wonder how the results will be!

  • @ScottHermanFitness my trainer gave me a programme for upperbody where i do heavy weight with forced reps. my pressing strength has increased almost too fast. after a week i tripled my reps on the bench from 2 to 6. but my pulling strength hasnt improved much at all. eg pullups and rows etc . any tips n does doing forced reps build less muscle than doing 8 to 10 reps?? thx

  • @AdR1aN43 2 reps is not enough. do more with lower weight, thats all the help you need. 8 reps i probably fine for you if you did not know this before.

  • @nakazazaza only reason i do 2 reps is so i can work my way up

  • @kingkwalker wow.. clearly a lie

  • Comment removed

  • @UmbertoSanchez You think its a lie? it probs isnt cus i weigh 140 pounds and i bench 2 45s and a 25 each side. just cus you can barely bench plates doesnt mean that hes lying

  • @kingkwalker Ok cool so you must be 5'1''

  • @kingkwalker how tall are you?

  • @kingkwalker Wow very impressive!

  • @kingkwalker Really? Don't want to be a douche but i have a hard time believing that. I weigh 155 and can only rep 200 3x8 That's a shit ton of weight. especially to do 6 times

  • @kingkwalker cool story bro

    no video no proof

  • @kingkwalker Damn i can't wait to see ur video then.

  • my mind has enough time struggling to lift my hammer^.^

  • Forced reps build mass and strength becuase the reps that you do after muscle fatigue triggers the release of growth hormones in the body. That's the science behind it.

  • subtitles in spanish please

  • Spot on about it being all being mental! so true, when i have a spotter i seem push a lot harder and get those extra reps.

Also, I am trying to gain strength and size, and was wondering about cardio: should i do much? lower intensity? or not at all? because i want get leaner as well.

Finally, love watching your video's Scott, you are a top bloke! Thanks for all your tips!

  • @tigertuff308

Your so right, this type of training is definatly mental.

  • You are amazing mate!

  • It's only mental when pushing yourself with the last repetitions. Considering an 80 pounds dumbbell to have 30 pounds won't help you at all lol. It might help when there is a low difference between what you can lift and what you can't.

  • I loive your voice

  • do you bench press scott, in your chest workouts you dont have them included ?

  • so true

    bro

  • thanks ur helping a lot

  • haha do you watch bleach :D

  • I totally agree with the mental thing. But if I do the 80 pound thing today... I will be trying to pick my arms up off the floor.. with no arms. Your Kung Fu is STRONG!

    HAHAHAHAHHAHAHA.

  • great advice scott!

  • just Subscribed!!!

Love all of your videos.. specially this one, really motivating. And your tutorial vids. on how to execute the exercise, just excellent!!

Keep it coming scott!! super thanks..

  • This is true. I actually have a friend weight the bar without me knowing how much he's putting on. The same on machines and with handing me dumbbells. I don't know how heavy they are, I just have to do what they give me. I can do more than I thought I could.

  • so true

and you don't need to have the scientific prove, cuz obviously it works, as long as you feel it in your mind heart soul and body you are fine ;)

  • thats what I believe too :)

  • Dude your awesome

  • Thank you!

  • @mohammad112388 lmaooo arabbbb

  • you are so right on this one scott. I do forced reps on every set and already feel myself getting stronger. And screaming to force out the last rep truly helps.. makes me feel like a spartan

  • So in other words,no will power =no gym? lol

  • you have it in you!!! find it!! Itchigo did!

  • wow you watch anime O-o or read manga ? haha

  • lol 1:56

  • :-)

  • I subscribed

  • yeah!
