It is as if, in the center movement, I am somehow experiencing someone else's most sensual moment yet being invited in, to share their joy and sorrow. An exquisite performance by a truly gifted soloist and an accompaniment of talented musicians. Thank you for this experience.... my heart is bursting and my ears rejoice.
I think that this is the most honest interpretation of this concerto, not only 'cause the tecnical perfection but for the fact that she does'nt play it for herself and to be like "ja, i know this piece, i'm a great violinist", no, she plays with the orquestra the conductor and the audience it's amazing the conection there is betwen every single note dinamics tempo caracter and expretion.

This is a beautiful rendition of the famous Adagio by Bruch. In fact for me the only violinist who can do better is Jaroslaw Nadrzycki, who I have had the pleasure of accompanying ealier this year.
The thing that's really getting to me about this recording...is that it sounds SO MUCH like I'm there as opposed to other recordings that I am almost fucking entranced. Jesus. 3rd time through straight hahahaha. I love this girl. She plays this Bruch so differently from all the other great artists..it seems like one of those dare to be great things. I like her.
@operamark1 Janine's sound is surely not small. You might have been sitting too far back or the acoustics might not have been so great where you were. Janine is not like any other obnoxious player. She plays with the orchestra instead of over them. She put a piece of herself into everything she plays. She's just incredible at what she does and it's a shame that most can't give her the appreciation she deserves.
Certified Intergalactic! Janine Jansen has become legendary. This piece is one of only two which I like best among violin concerto 2nd movements. The other one being that of Sibelius'.
A fine performance, but I prefer the Frederike Saeijs performance, also posted on YouTube. Having heard Jansen live at the Kennedy Center, I can tell you that her sound is small and it was hard to hear her over the orchestra in the heavily orchestrated passages (of the Sibelius). Her recordings, however, are impressive and she is a fine musician.
Having heard Sarah Chang in april live at the royal festival hall in london, I can truly say that her sound was BIG eg you say that with JJ live, her sound is small. Sarah was easy to hear , quite wonderful on the night .
Both Virtuosa Violinists, I am warming to JJ but there is just something special about Sarah for me, her performances and lastly her lovely smile as she plays, I suppose we all have our own favourites !! I am also so full of admiration for the way she treats her fans, always taking the time after her performance to go meet them, have a chat, photos, autographs etc. Its so nice of her to find to time to do things like this and it means so much for the people who have come to see her !
@lovesarahchang indeed her warmthness is unique.i dont compare.i love to enjoy the uniquenes of everyone.have a nice time! i dont know if you play, enjoy yourself as well!
This is the best version of this piece I've ever heard. She's really made it her own.
For me, the essence of a concerto is in its slow middle movement. Thats where the heart of the music is.
This movement sounds like the peaceful death of a gentle spirit, and then some sort of relentless quest for reincarnation that is eventually fulfilled. Interesting stuff.
nobody has played 1 and 2 parts so alive like janine.she made me falling seriously in love with this concert!
