  • The best Cheap Trick song Rick Nielsen didn't write. Amazingly good live.

So glad the two CBS albums finally came out on CD. The first album was actually even better than I remembered, I remembered pretty well.

  • I've been searching for a vinyl copy of the S/T album for awhile and yesterday, I found one in very nice shape - woo hoo!

    I'm diggin' it! :)

  • Wow......damn impressive, I think I might like this a bit TOO much.......

  • @jeffthrow6892 Thanks, jeffthrow!

  • happy to have been there

  • MY GOD. Last night a very drunk friend told me I HAD to hear the Laughing Dogs. I woke up this morning and he'd left a note that said "The Laughing Dogs - I Need A Million'.

SO I jumped on and searched. I found this.

    WOW.

Shit hot rock and roll! I have a brand new love, thank you!!!

  • @tamalamma

  • @laughingdogs Hard not to! Have watched this 20 times already, I'd say! WIll buy some tunes as soon as I'm paid this week. xx

  • I've read some info about The Laughing Dogs over the years , but up until now, I've never had the chance to hear the music, this is fantastic!

    I can't get enough! : )

Great pop / rock / power pop!

  • Thanks for the nice comment, beatlefan64!

  • the guitarist in my band is jimmy cathcart's son! i met jimmy, he's a chill fucking guy

  • This is a very exciting performance - one of my favorite Laughing Dogs songs! Thanks for posting it.

  • This is NOT punk (Please look up FEAR, THE CIRCLE JERKS and BLACK FLAG for more information.) ; it's just great pop from the late 70s/early 80s, reminiscent of The Knack and other more renown bands.

Like the rest a' youse', I was playin' this stuff, but with guys still too immersed in their rock "rut" to play anything this raw! Today they are still playing the same shit, but now they laugh (pardon the play on words) at bands like Green Day and are stuck playing covers by Bon Jovi, et al...!

  • hey HOW CAN I GET THE LYRICS !!!!

    ????????

  • I showed this video to my punk rockin' son and he was blown away. He now features it on his MySpace page. The Laughing Dogs live! I always knew I was right...

BTW - Is there a way to purchase the entire show from which this comes?

  • They just don't make em like Smiling Pizza no more.

Sorry I missed the after party. You guys made my June.

    Crazy Larry

  • great show!!!!jimmy you ripped it again bro, great playing dude- i was there standing on the side (by the bass bin off to the side )right acroos from where your sister and family was sitting and your right the pizza from that place was ass, pure de' asse....its a different world my friend when phillipinos are making pizza for me.lol!!

  • If you're in New York and love the DOGS - come to Village Underground tonight! I'm shooting their concert. I shot a rehearsal last week, and let me tell you all - it's gonna be a great show!!

    the beel

  • Thanks for comment, beel!

  • Was this the show where The Laughing Dogs opened for Blondie? If so, this was the first concert I ever saw, which means The Laughing Dogs were the first band I saw live! Absolutely brilliant band. Their first album is always on my Desert Island Discs list....

  • Yes, it was a show with Blondie. Good times, good memories. Thanks for the comment! Hope to see you at the concert June 24!

  • A great band that had great songs - and that could (obviously) play them live!

Thanx much for the upload. I still break out the 1st record from time to time and it has never lost its power to entertain.

  • Thanks for the comment - if you're in New York, come see the band play at the Village Underground on June 24th!

  • I've never heard of this group before, but after seeing this video, I want to hear more!

  • The reunion gig has been chaged to June 24th at The Village Underground.

    Need a ticket ? I need a million !

  • I am sorry too that I will not be able to attend.Well.....I'm glad the guys are back...very glad

  • So sorry that I can't make the reunion. I hear that Garland Jeffreys is reuniting on June 25th as well.

  • Uh oh - Does that mean I can't make it as well?

    NAH.

    CC

  • I'm glad you got my lil joke. I think Mr. Leonard thought I was serious. Is John Tesh opening for Garland? It was about you CC.

I bet you thought no one was watching you .

How come you didn't do Sail On Sailor on your Beach Boys cd ?

  • I didn't do Sail On Sailor cause it didn't need to be redone. The ones I did needed to.

My kids watch me! But thanks for the comments.

  • Thanks for the response. You are right. I love Sail On Sailor. I sent your Do It Again around to the Beach Boys freaks I know.

    I love that too.

  • Hey thanks for doing that! I've got a few more BB things I've done, but they're not on a cd. I've got a cd's worth of original stuff I wanna put out soon as I can - but I think you knew that already.

Can't wait ta see you! CC

  • You're welcome. I sent the tune to Taxi and Cosmo as Cosmo is a BB nut. But he couldn't play AAC files.

Man I can't wait to see you!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Which Jim says "I need 2 by now"

  • Mr. Toothbrush...

Most Dogs' fans are not aware that there are 2 Jims in the group since Jimmy Cathcart started using his middle name, Carter.

We know what line in the video you're referring to "I need 2 by now" near the end of "I Need a Million" but it would be nice if someone else answered the trivia question.

We're surprised that you even noticed it being ad libbed!

  • You mentioned a reunion again soon. When and where?

  • June 25th Arlene's grocery NYC.

    Bring yer Joe head.

I'll have my sweatshirt I made in 1979.

  • Yo Larry! And I had the nerve to name my son Carter James Cathcart...Blue Cross goes ballistic.

The reunion gig is happening in late June, and the details are coming SOON!

    Carter

  • Don't forget to let Davy Jones know what's happening. He;s a big fan.

    He told me so.

  • What's happening Dogs ? I actually heard from Carter last week.

Tell us, I'm going nuts I am.

  • I believe there's gonna be a reunion gig in NY coming real soon with all 4 original Dogs!

  • Please keep us posted on this! I have to be there!

  • Themin1 .....There should be a Laughing Dog surprise coming real soon....the deal is 95% set...and just maybe we can do an update on the photo Jimmi is talking about....and Jimmi is was a very long night.............Ronny...

  • Go Jimmy Go!

    Brooklyn still awaits your return

  • Thank you.

There's a photo somewhere in our archives of Cheap Perfume on stage at Gildersleeves in NYC.

Ronny and Jimmi are also on the stage with them.

    Probably a long night!

  • the girls would love to see that pix - They are playing again and will be recording too.

  • Go Jimmy Go!

    Brooklyn still awaits your return

  • Please release this whole show on DVD!!!

I saw the Dogs at the University of Delaware Student Center in 79 or 80, opening for the A's. I was in the front row (folding chairs) and my jaw was on the floor the whole time.

Precise 3 part harmonies, studio-quality playing, and having more fun than should be allowed while making it all look easy!!

The true test, IMHO, of a REAL band is the quality of the live performance, and the Dogs got an A++++. And let's not forget the Joeheads!!

  • We'll let you know when it's available on DVD.

  • Were they good. I've heard that song before.

  • Brilliant. What a great band.

  • This song was featured on the first Live at CBGB record and is as good today as it was in 1976!

    Thanks for sharing this classic!
