@keirababe She has a history of successfully boosting up sales since audiences love her. I think she came back three times (or four?) for Miss Saigon on Broadway to boost ticket sales.
@janetcalicagan Broadway box-office reports in March 2007 also indicated a significant rise in ticket sales for the Les Miz revival after the announcement that Salonga was replacing Daphne Rubin-Vega (who, unfortunately, got panned by critics and audiences alike).
I'm not surprised at the rave reviews critics gave Salonga as Fantine. She showed every nuance of emotion fir for Fantine -- after all, Salonga was the one who had actually read the whole book and thoroughly studied Hugo's character before performing it on stage. She's superior vocally to ALL actors who've played the role (including LuPone and Henshall). And it's already a given that her enunciation is the best in the industry. Really no surprise she's dubbed as the best Fantine now.
@SupernovaPrincess nick jonas sucks! if only he wasn't popular i dont think the producers will give him a chance. the producers took advantage of his popularity. tickets sales up! woohoo!

Instead of portraying Eponine & Fantine as "weak, gentle" characters, she chose to highlight their strengths, without taking away their sense of hopelessness, of longing. Some people wondered why she seemed an angry Eponine in the 10th anniversary & a fierce Fantine in the 25th as compared to her predecessors. I believe Lea's different take on these 2 important characters is refreshing & it seemed to have more impact to those watching , but that is just my opinion.
@etrnlygr8tful I totally agree with you. I think Fantine was written as a fairly helpless character a so many women in the classic novels are ( Tess, Anna Karenina, most of Dickens heroines) but this beautiful, talented actress has taken a fresh, modern approach to the role which wouldn't have worked a century or two ago but most definitely as impact here.
@bencabigas Ruthie Henshall also kicked ass at this song in the 10th anniversary! Both really different takes. Lea is a fierce belter but Ruthie makes sound effortless.
Thanks for posting this. I was lucky enough to be there Sunday night and to hear Lea Salonga sing this live was worth the ticket money alone. What a great performance. Lea and Alfie Boe on the same stage was stunning. Moving to the point of tears. Unfogettable night
@xLoveStoryxD Hey, I was just saying...... No need to be all snappy about it. I only found out, like a month ago, and wanted to share it with the rest of you. Is that such a crime?
Can't wait to see the official recording of the show.... Pity it wasn't shown here in Manila, Philippines. ...... Wanna see her facial expressions.... Superb Talent!
What a wonderful and heartfelt performance. She delivered this song with full of emotions that I couldn't stop myself from crying. I cannot wait for the whole concert to be released on DVD. Thank you for posting.
I read she was hired to boost sales is that true?

There should be an award for "best performance in a concert". In this performance alone, Lea Salonga could bag it a thousand times over. Brava!

not bad but shes not nearly as good as the fantine in the 10th anniversary. I liked Nick Jonas in this one though.

@zerovolume I like Nick Jonas. HATED him In Disney. But when they took away the auto-tune, he's amazingly talented.
