There are thousands of very successful adults who were raised...and do raise their children without spanking. It's not really a '90s thing so much that the dub ended up the way it was. Compare Teknoman, Saban's dub of Tekkaman Blade that also came out in 1995, to DiC's dub, and you will see that even though both shows had the same audience and were both on TV, DiC went WAY overboard with the censorship. Ronin Warriors was also not so spic-and-span clean. It was just DiC overdoing it, especially with what looks to be sexist treatment of a girls' show versus those aforementioned boys-centered shows.
