  • there a KID in the backround

  • what is the name (and how do u do) of the walk or hoping with the snowboard he does towards the end before entering the slope?

  • Again, I just want to punch you. Flat on board = catch edge and eat it.

  • 0:18

  • kinda lame. i would just say keep your knees bent sink into the speed and just relax. if your toe or heal edge fish tale your doing it wrong. anywho yah see a instructor for proper method practice makes perfect!!

  • i love grandrapids and cannonsburg. i live there. =D

  • Wrong wrong do wrong. Presuming you can go down the slope on your toe and heal edge, and also do the falling leaf, you will know that you don't twist your shoulders. You turn your head and look in the direction. You also have to do things with your feet too. But a qualified instructor will show you the proper way to do it. :)

  • This is wrong. You should never turn your shoulders. Turn your head and look where you want to go, and your body will do the rest. But then again there is more to it than that. You start learning to turn once you can go down a slop on your heal edge, and then toe edge, and then when you learn to do the falling leaf. Get a proper instructor and don't learn bad habits :)

  • if you really are serious about wanting tips for snowboarding, this isn't where you need to be. Go see sierrasnowboard and he will show and explain more than a few seconds of instruction. If this helps you like it so others can see. he has plenty of videos for the new and the intermediate.

  • Quit posting video's, you make it hard to find a video worth watching

  • 1. Get some goggles that fit you

    2. Your Awesome :D

  • I'm doing my lessons and I was taught to never use my upper body to turn only look where I want to go and my body will instinctively go to that specific spot :) but they do what my instructor calls ape arms :P hahaha they have bad instructors there :| or do I have a bad instructor :O

  • @allsilvern Watch the tutorials on snowprofessor and sierrasnowboard for more detailed explanations and quality demos.

  • You need to rock on your toeside edge, paper on your knees and scissors on your heels. If snowboarding is as easy as expert village say it is why are they so bad at it?

  • lol at the little kid creeping in the back

  • Hi my name is Fat Man Penis.

  • Oh really expertvillage? From what my instructors have told me, DON'T lead with the shoulders. Well, isn't that strange?

  • @reidmathews The same with me ! I can believe they think they can teach WHEN THEY DON'T HAVE A CLUE !!

  • @SnowboardProCamp

For allot more tips on how to do snowboard tricks, check out the snowboard video's on the name above!

  • its been a long time since I heard something as wrong as that.

  • its been a long time since I heard something as wrong as that. I just did my IFSI and if i had told them something like that I would not have got it!!

  • Anyone know what jacket hes wearing, if you do let ,me know i can see its a volcom but i cant find it anywhere.

    Thanks

  • @iWarpz it would be reasonable to assume this video was filmed in the american 2007 snow season (he states it is december in another video). it looks reasonably new, so i am going to say it is most likely a 2007 or 2008 volcom jacket (they bring out next years gear half way through the year before it is going to come out; e.g. 08 gear would have been released in mid year 07). so you are having trouble finding it because it is at least 4years old. hope i helped :)

  • hes really good at snowboarding wrong.

  • "Hi im Matt wantsanus" what......?

  • this guy looks just like a talking scarecrow, only difference is, that he sucks.

  • The kid in the back is jsut like....WTF......

  • hahah kid in the back with orange hoodie... lokin fly

    0.21

  • Ha I'm from Michigan I snowboard at mt. Holly and pine knob if u have been there?

  • thumbs up for the kid in the begining staring at them!

  • i want that jacket! anyone know where i can get that volcom jacket???

  • expert village sucks

  • dude. name the video correctly. dynamic carving is more than linking turns. carving means that you are correctly using your feet and body mass to manipulate the flex of your board-- allowing you to ride on your edges and accelerate out of turns.

  • just so everyone knows, this isn't carving!!!!!! Carving is when you are snowboarding completely on the edge and create a thin line in the snow!

  • hahaha what a fail :D

  • 0:47 , and that's where i'd catch an edge and fall on my face

  • I find it's easier to go from heelside to toeside than toeside to heelside

  • underarmor hoody kid. 0:16

  • @APlasticTree001 BGP's all day long.

  • look at the kid starring in the orange sweatshirt

  • Thanks

  • goddamn gnome...

  • GHOST! 0:01!

  • @xXCWALDROUPXx Where!?!?!

  • @Mrninjamonkey100 right by the window to the right

  • @xXCWALDROUPXx smoke, steam

  • @xXCWALDROUPXx more like snow blowing in the wind

  • @xXCWALDROUPXx That's a cloud of frozen air, as when you breath and it's really cold oustside

  • HALO LOOKIN GOGLES lol

  • Preesh that volcom jacket. Steezin'.

  • oh no expert village..

  • fuck grand rapids

  • i cant carve for my life.... whenever i go to transition... i did my board into the snow and end up on the ground

  • What size is his board?

  • There's a LOT more to carving then just learning how to use your edges. Effective carving requires full-body movement. You don't just carve but turning your upper body and leaning, that's how you skid. (and btw I think it looks like his edges are slipping after he switches edges.)

  • what if he would of hit that kid 0:52

  • lmao the little kid with the orange is like

    " i like turtles"

  • @TheRealLifeguard damn it i waas going to write that :( i hate you!!

  • The kid in the bak is confused

  • Is it just me, or when I don't carve my board tends to go back and fourth and catch the snow, causing me to fall. Maybe i need a new board? idk. PLEASE REPLY SOMEONE!

  • @dragondeth48 If it's going back and forth it's because you're not riding on an edge. If you're flat on the board, you have zero stability, and it'll wobble and catch. When boarding, you must always either be on your toe or heel side (or if you just have crazy balance and are bombing down the hill).

  • @reddog418 THANKS I'm glad it's not just me being stupid lol. so thanks for replying

  • @dragondeth48 Also, make sure your board edges are sharpened. It really helps alot.

  • @startledtoast alright. oh and btw. I have step-in bindings. I don't do tricks, except for the occasional failed grind attempt (lol) or small jumps on the sides of trails. I want to stick with the step ins because they are SO convenient. But someone told me that they could pop out. Should I get normal ratchet bindings? or stick with the step ins!

  • @dragondeth48 Step in bindings in MY opinion are not very good. They have easy access but are hard to put on with snow build up. I use the ratchet bindings because they are comfterble and they have easy on-the-go alteration. The Ratchet bindings are very comfterble because they can be adjusted however you would like with the pressure on the toe and heels. They also do not deal with the silly snow build up. So in my opinion rent a board with ratchet bindings and see how you like them then decide.

  • as long as you don't rock to your toes while facing down the mountain :)

  • matt vincepenis wtf?

  • @teamsnowsurf ugh... killed it

  • this poor guy and his name ahahaha

  • -comes in video, reads name, exits out-

  • fag

  • not that being a snowboard coach for twelve years makes me an "expert", but please expert village, you are doing people a disservice, "rock to you're toes, rock to your heals", you should remove this video for the sake of people that really want to learn to snowboard

  • pitty how often 'turning' is confused for 'carving', often by self claimed experts. Please keep on enjoying the nicest of sports but do not call yourself an expert when you think this is carving. Never seen anyone carve from the shoulders with stiff hips, stiff knees and with bindings in this position. Hang loose

  • whats this using your shoulders to initiate turns great why don't you just teach them falling leaf you idiot

  • Turning =/= Carving

Sad so see such expensive equipment going to waste.

  • 1) Expert village you suck. Get off youtube.

    2) This isn't carving at all. It's just a normal turn.

    3) Douche Bag

  • ??? :D

  • Cannons burg sucks dick!!!

Pando is the shit and its cheaper :P

  • bullshit. You wanna keep your upper body quiet.

  • Is carving just using your front foot (heel up, to both flat, to toe up) or is it using your front followed by your back foot? Thanks.

  • @RobboAroso it happens naturally when you turn your hips, but you will see the board bend a little in the direction of your toes and heels

  • That's turning not carving.if you are leaving a thin line behind then you are carving

  • Odie, you're right, this isn't carving. I'm not sure why, but there are a bunch of "how to carve" videos pupping up that have nothing to do with carving. It's great to have the vids though., just the terms are getting mixed up.

  • im having troubles turning heel side to toe side once im turning left im good but once i turn right i fall forward im regular by the way someone help please

  • @lougnut umm if your regular wouldnt heel side be turning left?

but anyways i love heel side

um use ur back foot a lot for that its easy dude

  • no im talking about going from heel to toe i turn heel but then when i turn toe i just fall forwards or back and heel is when you turn left right

  • @lougnut ohhh okay okay

you need to shift your weight

you can be leaning back when you turn to toe otherwise you will fall soo um yeah its jus gettin used to it

    good habits

  • @lougnut sounds like you are making your transitions too quickly. from heel side to toe side transition, make sure your board is flat, even pointing down the hill, then you make that toe side turn and vice versa. stay on your edges, switching to the other edge too soon will make you fall

  • umm i dont know for sure so someone please correct me if im wrong but i dont think this is carving, nice video though

  • its not true carving.. alot people say they can carve but cannot

  • trickxtips

Great Trick Tips WEBSITE for : Snowboarding, Skateboarding, Skiing and even Free Running lol.

  • you have to kick your back foot out while going straight. this is what i do

  • Idiot::)))

  • look at the kid in the backround

  • Attura that happens to me to when im turning to switch to toeside or heelside. sometimes its just because you have to turn your shoulders towards the direction your going. try not to stay on flat board too long or else snow builds up in front of your board and you fall over (thats what happens to me).

    Hope it helps

  • Ugh, i just can't understand that steering..

    1. i steer to left

    2. so then i should steer to right

there is a problem between that 1 and 2 bcuz the edges of snowboard hits on snow and i just simply fall onward and hit my nose --'

hope u understood that :D my english is not very good :/

  • Free RIDE snowboard gear on the link on my youtube page.

  • Dont listen to this guy-take a lesson or have someone teach you

  • look so easy :D but it isnt easy :/

  • The tips here are good, but it's skidding, not carving.

  • thnks for sharing?

  • carving is different from doing a flat heel side to a toe side or vice versa. Generally, carving means to ride on the edge of your board by bending enough for both toe and heel. (ex: heel side then going flatboarded then toe side). I've seen many people just transition one into the other without going flat first.

  • I think thats how I do it. Havent been boarding in a minute. Going in feb though.

  • The retard with the camera films your face the whole time. Only a woman could possibly fail so hard with a camera.

  • What's the thing he does at 0:47 called? Does it even have a name? I see loads of people use that technique to move on flatground..

  • penguin walking?? me and my buds call it thatt when we boardd. :)

  • Yeah, that's what someone called it in French as well... thanks.

  • @agrelon haha oh no problem!! and i heard it in french too! lol

  • that is called cameleon bro

  • jibbing is sort of the catorgry its under, skateboarding its called a crab walk

  • dont you need powder to carve. to me that just going down the hill nose to heel.

  • yeah i find having powder much easier

  • the people in the back are stairing trying to get a free lestion out of this this

  • @patrick0101patrick isnt that what ur doing by watching the video?

  • Comment removed

  • sounds like he says hi my name is matt vans anus lol

  • @MaTt1231231234 ahah hahaha

  • what muscles are you supposed to use when carving? I snowboarded for the first time recently and I always found myself using my ankle muscles to lift my toes up for heel carving and tip-toeing for toe carving, though I had my knees bent the whole time. Is that right, or are my boots not tight enough or something?

  • If there's enough room for you to lift up your toes then you might want to tighten your boots or bindings a little more. You should also coordinate your upper and lower body for balance and direction and not depending solely on your legs.

  • this is not carving. a carve is not just any turn. in snowboarding a carve has a specific meaning - it is a turn in which the nose and tail of the board follow the same path.

these are skidded turns. not carved turns.

  • hey can you give me more info on carving and turns..cause i am new to snowboarding and really dont know the difference..they really look the same:)..pls help:)

  • i would post a link to an item discussing the difference but you tube won't let me...

  • i would love to help but youtube won't let me post a comment for some reason.

  • send a message to my profile then:)

  • just thank you dudes! all these are very helpful!

  • I board a pine knob in clarckston

  • cannonsburg is where i snowboard, i prefer pando though

  • I have a playlist on my profile on here. one of the videos demonstrates short and long carves.

  • they to make video on how to not catch your fucking edge :)

  • Woohoo! Grand Rapids!

  • there was also NO CARVING taking place in this video.

  • carving... is turning. he was going down the mountain slowly too so you really cant see any real carving.

but what he taught in the video was all the basics about turning which in turn (if you got better at it) you later know how to carve.

  • um. no. carving isn't JUST turning. CArving is riding on the "rails" of the board... the edges. NO SKIDDING! There is skidded turns (very basic), skidded carving ('scarving" as some call it), and carving... which is dynamic. In carving the base of the board never touches the snow flat, its always on the edges. Go get an AASI cert. You'll understand what I'm talking about.

  • your always riding on toe side or heel side, the base of the board should NEVER be fully touching the hill, that means no control at all(for long periods of time) cuz your suggesting that someone who doesnt know how to carve, stays flat , so if you got this certification w.e it is, you gave the dude a blowjob before you got it

  • I was referring to CARVING when I said that you stay on your edges and don't let the base touch the snow. the base WILL touch the snow in skidded turns. Even in this video he does skidded turns (NOT CARVING). I never suggested staying flat dude. I'm SAYING that you control the board with your lower body. keep a quiet upper body. just like in skiing.

  • well then way to point out the obvious mister, "i have this certificate shit" everyone knows that

  • @101jon101 haha... I'm not saying I have a cert... I'm saying that's how they teach because its biomechanically correct. yes. there is a science to snowboarding.

  • im pretty sure biomechanically is the incorrect word, cuz i use that in IB biology, and yes life is science, theres a science to everything, snowboarding is phsyics with a bit of chem because of friction bonds :P

  • @101jon101 ok... then kinesiology.

  • and just to clarify, carving is quick correct? (thats how i came to this video, still havent found my answer)

  • @101jon101 there are short and long carves.

  • hmm i see how hes doing those "skidding" turns you mentioned, carving is like going strate pretty much right?

  • long boards ftw!

  • Everyone is right. You need to focus on your hips. How the heck are you going to balence using your shoulders? thats the dumest thing Ive ever heard.

  • But in snowboarding your Hips follow your Shoulders.

  • lol if you just thinking about your shuolders and carving by moving them then you are going to fall flat on your arse or face. The most important thing to think about is you hips NOT your shoulders...focus on getting your lower body sorted and the shoulders will naturally come.

  • its all in the hips, if u try to move ur legs to much ur board will just swivle

  • i just watch somepeople and i did what they did. thats how i learned. besically kicking out you feet and angling you board right and you carving should improve from there

  • you DO NOT USE YOUR SHOULDERS!!!! "its all with your shoulders".... no no no... its not. This dude can NOT be certified. people... SNOWBOARDING is from the waste DOWN... unless you're doing freestyle.

  • Sure you have to use your waste, mabe hes boarding with his hands, than he needs his shoulders!^^

So, its like skadeboarding, you use you waste down.

  • quiet upper body... same as skiing... keep your body in the same direction down the hill right... and i kinda think this vids tittle is off... he didnt carve untill the last turn... somehow i cant get a board to carve.... any tips?

  • Its harder to rotate your hips than your shoulders. And your hips will follow your shoulders when you let it loose.Haha.

  • not according to AASI instruction. When i was an instructor at Breckenridge Ski Resort, we were taught to use hips and knees. If you use your shoulders for level 2 cert, you will fail. Not to mention you can't control the board effectively in moguls.

  • he means rotate your shoulders first then your hips

    then your legs

    and finally your board

    makes for a smooth turn

  • yeah, I know what he means. and its NOT how you teach someone how to snowboard. There is a reason professional snowboard instructors are NOT taught to teach this. using your hips and knees makes for smooth turns. upper body should be quiet. You use your hips and legs to TORSIONALLY flex the board to turn.

  • all turns are initiated by the hips and knees to torsionally flex the board... kinesiology of snowboarding 101.

  • well as a teaching tip and can be used so you understand more, like, its more obvios to see someones shoulders turn then hips so the students can understand how he is twisting

  • I, nor any instructor I know, has ever taught to "use your shoulders" in anything except freestyle. The body SHOULD NOT twist during riding. I've seen people really jack up their back twisting, not to mention, lose control of the board. The shoulders should stay in line with the hips at all times. refer to AASI instruction if you doubt this.

  • if you dont twist you cant turn, thats just like basic knowledge and twisting makes you have control dumb ass, think about it, considering your latest post, before this one you say your always on the edge of the board, no shit dumb fuck, if you werent and you twisted youll be fucked, and he nor i is saying twist your shoulders a full 180 before your hips, its like looking before you turn in a car stupid... thats like saying, dont look before you turn when your driving, (you get mroe fucked up)

  • that is incorrect. You TWIST THE BOARD TORSIONALLY to turn the board. NOT your body. AASI is the American Association of Snowboard Instructors. LOL... THE certifying agency for snowboard instructors at major resorts. They teach proper kinesiology of snowboarding. you have a neck. use it. not your shoulders.

  • is carving like wakeboarding?

  • what the hell ur goggles look like soundwave in transformers animated

  • here is another tip for carving, people sometimes tend to switch from heelside to toeside too quickly and you will catch edge... if u do it more gently, u will have less chance 2 catch edge

  • Carving is alot wider...like a sharper turn...u got to one side of the slope turn keep ur turn until u get to the other side of the slope turn....Ull even hear the crsshshs ....the sharp turn ur making in the snow

  • those are skidded turns not carving....

  • Very good video ! Now I know how can carving at softboard by tongue without ride at snow.

CMC, internet have much ... what try there solve his complex. Stretch your memory. Do you remember else bomeronline ? Fin ? J.M. ? Than much "experts" at CATEK forum.... Do you remeber it else ? Anyone in internet can be expert.

    But not at slope !

  • You are not an expert. Those are not carved turns.
