This song reminds me of being young and innocent and wanting a romance to bloom....... but it "never came around".......he was ready and she wasn't....and both of them look and and wonder what could have been.

It's a really sad song but I've liked it since I heard it 5 years ago when my dad got a Bread cd. Always reminds me of an episode of the Waltons called "Love Story" where John-boy falls in love with this girl but then she has to leave. The whole episode gives you this feeling that they aren't going to have much time together kind of like this song, so sad. My friends tease me for likingthis type of music but I don't care, I can't help it that I'm a hopeless romantic. They just don't understand.

I named my daughter Aubrey about 29 years ago. We named her Aubrey becuase of this song. The song is lovely and so it she. She is a beautiful woman and a very special mother.
David Gates puts so much emotion in his songs. Excellent. To coin it again; music like this, of this quality does not exist any more. The junk they push on the radio today is crap.

I always wanted to name my 4th child, Aubrey because I loved it from the first time back in the day, I didn't have a 4th child.
My daughter honored me by naming my 4th grandaughter AUBREY. I was in love with her from the beginning. it was like we were kindred spirits! A bond so special. Sadly circumstances have interferred and we can no longer have a relationship. I listen to it to feel closer to her, we sang it all the time. It's Prophetic,I would go a million times to be with her 1 day!TLC

its me Aubrey's mom. Aubrey's dad wanted to name her after this song..I agreed to naming our first child this beautiful name I had heard for the first time...I didn't hear the song until weeks after her birth in 1990...and cried...I loved the song and even more I loved her name.

I was named after this song. It came out when my Dad was in highschool and he said when he had a daughter he would name her Aubrey. It's a beautiful song. I actually walked down the aisle of my wedding to it :)
