I've been gigging with one of these for about 5 years now its been a hassle free great sounding amp! I won't use anything. I love it with my Gretsch TV Jones Equiped guitars!!
Only you would come back with a replie like that. Wow i would love to meet you i bet you are one amazing guy. And i guess on my part that was a stupid question
@jazzmaster1948 NO YOU CAN'T. If you use this amp for surf music, it will automatically shut off, and then explode 5 seconds later. It has an internal shrapnel chamber, too, so if you play surf music on this, when it blows up on you, it will actually cut your body into pieces.....
WHEN WILL PEOPLE LEARN THAT YOU CAN PLAY ANY MUSIC ON ANY AMP??????
Wow! I've been looking at other amps such as the Cornford Mk50, Suhr Badger, Port City Pearl, Two Rock, DrZ. etc...but damn this thing sounds great! Cheers! Greg is the best!!!!
@goldtopguy1 The SuperSonic being made now is totally unlike this one. They changed tubes from 6L6 to 6V6, so the clean sound is modeled on the Deluxe Reverb rather than a Bassman or Vibrolux. The burn channel is still based on the ProSonic, but with the 6V6 power section, gives a tighter overdrive sound. In my opinion, a vast improvement, but I prefer the Deluxe Reverb sound to the Bassman or Vibrolux anyway.
@danakerman i like my supersonic, its the 1st run of em, but ive modded it with marshall high gain preamp tubes, a jensen jet speaker, and it sounds good now, if i change the poweramp tubes to 6v6 will it make a difference?
@gweaterman 6V6 power sections sound different that 6L6 power sections. The 6V6 yields lower total wattage, lower headroom, and a tighter overdrive sound. It's like the difference between a Fender Twin (6L6), and a Fender Deluxe Reverb or Tweed Deluxe (6V6)
@gweaterman You should have kept it the way it was man, fender no what they r doing u know, they build these amps for a living, & they have tested every different setup in each amp, and thats why when u get it home it probable has the best setup in it, people r changing the speaker in the new hot rod deluxe to a vintage 30 ect, they stuck the Celestion in it because that's what the majority of people thought was best 4 it,
my friend Richard, who calls me a BF (busted friend) thinks he's so cool, but wait till i get this or the vibrolux along with the '62 reissue jaguar and kick his butt. he started the gfbf foundation in my honor (thanks sensei)....but seriously, who spends a hundy each on humbuckers??
hey does anyone know if you can hook up the combo supersonic to the cabs like the 412 cab and it will work without it having any problems. i know it has the external speakers feature but was just wondering if you could hook up the 412 to it then.
but why does it still have to be modeling a vibrolux and bassman? it should just have a clean and dirty channell. so instead of saying i like how that amps get that other amp's sound, you could say i like how that amp sounds with its own unique tone!?
@44eelz the controls actually read vibrolux and bassman, that's how fender designed it. That's what the super sonic is, allegedly those two amps in one, although I'm not sure I buy it.
he speaks a language that people understand, humor and detail at the same time, his knowledge of amps and his ability to play multiple genres is why he is touring for Fender and attracting crowds. People can easily decide to go a demo where all they hear is the player . Greg is a great performer, player and he inspires, he is not locked into a single mode...
Pretty contrived sales pitch. I have this amp, the Vibro and bassman channels are amazing. He makes it sound like having only a bass and treble control is a good thing, also never demos the burn channel too long because its weak for heavier stuff even though it has more than enough gain, it's weak and loose copared to say a 5150 or mesa. That said, the burn is good for classic crunch and vintage sounding distortion. The bassman channel works great with a distortion pedal though.
Jim Marshal was (is) a drummer, and a lot of drummers can play the guitar. I'm shure, there a more drummers playing guitar than guitar players playing drums. What would Jim think about your comment? ;-)
You are a nut! I love this video. This is a great amp. I have 2 boogies (S.O.B. and MK III) a 5150, an AC30 and the Supersonic combo. the tones that come out of this amp make the work of finding that area that works, real easy. It is hard to get bad sounds out of this amp. (I'm sure you could but why?)
From your amp collection I can see why you love this amp. Those are all good amps and so is this one, but I dont like multiple channel amps. Why split up the Drive? Its less noisy but i like noise sometimes. it loses most of the dynamics that way. Personally i would gladly take one of the bandmaster VM's over this ( or a boogie) any day. Those amps are good for 9-5 studio guys. nothing wrong with that. Its all subjective.

If Fender was smart they'd distance themselves from this guy. He's a human jukebox who thinks he's Jerry Seinfeld. It's like listening to math equations and bad jokes - not unlike some sort of Driver's Ed video you have to take to get out of a ticket. No feeling. Just technical proficiency. Hopefully, I can get the memory of this dude out of my head the next time I play my Concert, Champ or BandMaster. Drop the Koch and digital effects and start making real overdrive.

He was doing so well being goofy and everything until he tried doing a Keith Richards riff without being in Open G tuning, and then implying Keith is a IV drug user. He is talkin' out his ass regarding the Fender Bassman also.. Buddy Guy said he and fellow bluesman used the Fender Bassman simply because they needed something loud enough to be heard, but small enough for the trunk of their car.
The first thing he said about the Bassman was that it was known for being powerful. I take that to mean loud. As for Keith, everyone knows how hard those guys partied bro. It's just a demo of an amp with a guy cracking some jokes, no need to get worked up over it.
