Female Bass Player

Very inspirational. I'm taking my first bass lesson and I'm a female in my early 50s. I just want to learn to play for a hobby and relaxation. Plus I LOVE music, any type. Hopefully I can practice with my daugher who taught herself how to play guitar since I bought her 1st Fender 15 years ago:).

I just had my first lesson yesterday. My hands are small and it's hard to use my "pinkie" finger, does this get easier?

I had problems moving my Ring on my first 2 monthes, Pinkie's a bit hard, but you'll get the hang of it by time.

The main thing is to enjoy and have fun.I am in my late forties and have recently started bass,finding it difficult because my brain is not as receptive to learning new thing's.I just plod on at my own pace and do not set targets for myself.Music is about relaxation not work.

i think its cool you decided to take it up on your own. although i suggest having an experienced musician help you with finger placement because you seem to be having a hard time going from fret to fret.

Fenders are actualy very good. I wouldnt buy one myself. because They look boring. and are common. but i have played one. and they do not suck. there just over rated.

Actually, the reason I have a Fender is that my husband is a professional drummer and he knew I wanted to learn to play bass so he bought me one for my birthday. We have always liked Fender guitars and prefer them to others...doesn't matter what the world thinks as long as I am happy with it!
