The singing in this movie was better, but the acting in the other movie was better....I like both movies equally....l was obsessed with Annie when I was little. The songs to this day still make me happy and give me chills!
its ironic, i always loved this movie... and then my mom died and I became an orphan ..legally that is... luckily i had other family to take care of me
my dad brought me the dvd when i was 9 and after that i could be watching it 3 times a week for years.I have no idea but this movie has always been and will always be in my heart whatever everybody else says <3
*Damn.* I'm in the process of getting out of my current marriage to a wife that doesn't know how badly the constant insults , jabs, and hectoring are getting me down.
Believe me if want, call me want you want; but I will tell you that this song just lifted the spirits of a broken-down old man who was teetering on the edge of insanity. Thank you, OP of this video.
Wow, was I confused, lol. I was watching video clips from both the 1982 version and this 1999, and I thought this girl just happened to be another orphan, and not Annie. I was intermixing the two, lmao.
i love the 1982 version because i grew up with it and i remember it well but i prefer this version because of the better vocals and this one is more like the broadway stage performance
I love both versions. Lets not beat down the 82 version though. Annie is supposed to have red CURLY hair. I give it two years until the remake starring f'ing Willow Smith comes out and you'll probably change your tunes about the 82 version. Alicia Morton is cute as a button as Annie though.
What's really creepy is that some people not only favor the 1982 version, but also they seem to believe that the 1982 version is more faithful... which is just flatout incorrect.
@123balletstar 1982 isn't bad... I kind of wish they could have gotten Bernadette Peters to reprise her role, although there was nothing wrong with Chenoweth. Although I think people generally favor 1982 is the better one because they "grew up with it," which is actually the opposite for me. I was nine when I saw this and fell in love with it, I saw the 1982 version years later and was like "wait...what?"
OMG they used this song in an award winning documentary film "I Have Tourette's but Tourette's Doesn't Have Me"! it really gives me goosebumps and i can't help my tears falling! i was so touched!
@Stroud99CP Hell NO! Its bad enough she's an orphan but this kid looks sloppy! the 1982 version kicks ass and the kid's a FAR better singer, actor and a STAR! This is just SAD
@kkdkoolkat2 Annie's hair in the 1982 release was modelled on the way she was drawn in the comics. It may not have translated to the Big Screen very well, but it was more "authentic."
the singing is better in this one. this girl looks realistic, unlike the other annie of 1982 who looked like chuckie. no 'fence, but i'm just stating a fact. love this movie so much!!
@cenationnumber1 well, in the Little Orphan Annie comic strip, she actually has that crazy curly red hair, lol. So Aileen (the 1982 Annie) resembled her closer. :) But Alicia (this Annie) was cute. At the end of the movie she does have her hair curled but it's not wild and crazy. I thought it looked really pretty like that.
I was five when this was released. I fell in love with this musical a few years later and I have performed in this musical in a theater group. I LOVE it and this song!
You know what's so amazing about this scene? Study the last 80 or 90 seconds.. that is one continuous single camera shot that starts at ground level and winds up with an high wide shot. Incredible cinematography!
Great movie, and beautiful song. I actually got to meet Alicia, but I was very young then and can't remember it. I'm assuming it was some kind of sweepstakes for the movie or something, so I would have been just a toddler.
the officer should of walked back a second after he said hes going to the pound blah blah and said " HEY YOU I WORNED YOU DONT GO AROUND WITH THE DOG LIKE THAT!" than they took him to the pound XD
blah, not at all, i like the 80's version way better, she looks more accurate to the cartoon script too. the songs are better, and i just prefer it to this one over all.
might be the same words, but they are totally different songs, due to the way that the directors and actresses handled it differently.
the songs in the 80's version just sound better, and it fits the "great depression" era more as well. plus, annie's trying too hard to look like madaline. lol.
@dolzakhyron i guess.. i just grew up with this version and i think it has more of the disney magic. plus listen to her singing! i like both versions though.
@loverlycactus blah, disney has no magic left. disney's magic died with roy. her singing just isn't all that great to me. it is a very mediocre film too. unlike the 80's version, which actually tries to evolve the characters. this version, has them go out, to the a play, and come back on the first night of her being there and already, "i want to adopt her!" wtf? also, witht he "they are all the same" comment to me, is like saying madanna's version of "the day the music died", is better/same.
@dolzakhyron I agree. I miss the old disney channel and the old disney movies when every movie made you wanna sing or dream about things. disney is not the same
@3Gabbygurl4 i totally agree, disney has gone down hill, majorly. but at least disney is going back up, in quality finally. but it will never be the same awesome it used to be. and disney channel no longer plays anything good any more, at least not animation wise. i miss disney cartoons. =[
@dolzakhyron so do I... my little cousins probably havent even seen Annie lolz. But i know that one day when they grow up and have kids they will tell their kids that they miss the old disney channel, except their old disney channel will be the disney channel we call new
@3Gabbygurl4 blah that will be like telling their kids that they miss vomit.
xD
that is all disney creates now, bland, low budget, stereotype filled, "happy message" moment, movies. while trying to obsorb everything that makes it great, so another company can not make a movie of it, that is more accurate.
and soon every one will be saying "that 90's annie was the best and original" or what ever. and they will say the 80's one was the copy. kind'a like twilight fans >.> lol
I love Annie! I have grown up with this movie I was like 2 when I would sit in the cart at the store and belt ou 'tommarow' today I still do! I was SOOO happy when i got a lead role in Annie!
