the oldest grunge starting band was seattle area fame and fortune queens ryche check em out they too have alot of emotion they started it all baby in my home area of seattle
i love music i listen to tons of music for hours every day from black sabbath, led zeppelin to nowdays music nd i have to say nobody ever touch me with hes voice nd lyrics like layne did this man is so underrated
@kaptinstabbin going back in time: "like the coldest winters chill, heaven beside you, hell within" Such a warm and relaxing song, genious, and they have that heavy part witching on and off in the song
"Every day it's something hits me all so cold, find me sitting by myself, no excuses then i know" another warm happy, relaxing chorus
but in those same 2 albums of those 2 songs, were such diverse songs aside from them.
Like Again, and Rotten Apple or nutshell. AIC's contrast is severe
I'm 36 years old now, a wife for the last 13 years and a mother of 4, PTA and everything. You wouldn't know it to look at me today, but I was the biggest AiC fan back in high school. Whenever I'm feeling nostalgic, I play this song. This is as pure to pain you can get. So raw, pure emotion. No one makes music like this anymore. Layne took it with him.
@Mara19802 i was wondering what happened to all the real rocker chicks back in the day.. i shouldve geussed yall found more motivating people and stated familys..lmao
@rainbolt1982 Dude, we're still around! We just rock out with the kids now. AiC might be a little hard for the kids, lyrics wise, but we like other stuff. I love Muse, so we jam to that sometimes.
@Mara19802 im 13, but i showed AIC to my mom. My mom was (and still is) and extremely lighthearted and preppy person, but she sees that dakness and obscurity in AIC. She listens to all today's pop and 80s pop, all the stuff she was a kid, but she listens to AIC
it just shows how universal this music is if you can feel it, and it varies to relate to everyone.
People these days, especially my age, just don't take the time to try it. But it's well worth it
@Mara19802 You are so right , nothing but raw pure emotion bleed the freak was the song before this one tape, i would play it over and over, nobody will ever sound as great as Layne Staley!
i felt so sad when i read excerpts from his final interview. to be such a powerful musician must one be so deep in in addiction and depression? these were the days before he gave in. he is and will continue to be the greatest singer i have ever heard. we miss you Layne
AIC truthfully possessed so much more talent than rock bands of the early '90s and every rock band in this current generation- just watching this live performance proves it - and watching Layne belt out his vocals in this live concert explains why the teenagers in Seattle coined him "THE LEGEND" back in the 90s..such a huge loss....
beautiful from beginning to end! how much more perfect could AIC be here?
so much sadness & anger in each precious moment.
Layne is perfect.
And AIC is NOT Jerry's band & never was. Even Sean said they would never go on as AIC without Layne. He said if they go on, they would change the name. As they obviously should!! This new album is supposed to be a one-time tribute to Layne.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
I have commented on this song many times.....Its a SABBATH song...WOW....Ozzy couldnt do it better...but I bet OZZY could hit these notes when he was Laynes age here.....just an observation...WEED IS SO COOL
it is jerrys band but new aic sounds nothing like the old. it no longer has that voice and charisma. like take this song for example. who else could sing this song so passionately. NO ONE BUT LAYNE
Jerry is cool in his own right but bringing back the name AIC was kinda lame I think Alice in chains died with layne, and this new lead singer is ok but he is far from layne...like far far far
well i gotta say i love seether. and seether loved AIC. seether has a good bit of heart in music. good lyrics. good stuff. and they have different sounds. staind keeps tha same sound, but i love them cause of tha lyrics. but yea, thats about it for todays bands. tha rest is pop rap crap mixed with a lil hoe with bling bling so we can pimp it with a white t.... or what ever tha fuck those fuckers say
I actually like seether alot ive seen them live 6 times it just seems like every cd they release is kinda the same. Nickleback and staind are the two worst "rock" bands out right now in my opinion.
I would like to make a comment,I believe that Jerry Cantrell holds this bands publishing rights and most songs were written by him but on the other hand this new band is not Alice in Chains without Layne Staley . The should have respected the bands legacy by performing their hits but their with another name that just my opinion.
god damn I still can't believe how fukin awesome and powerful his voice is throughout this show. I mean it was always awesome and powerful but this show in particular was just fukin astounding.
totally agree, this is one of my favorite songs from AIC. I love how toatlly real Staley's voice is throughout all their songs and concerts. Definitely my favorite band of the era.
