  • I HAVEN'T SEEN THIS SINCE I WAS 4!

  • Hmmm...don't remember this one. Anything with David is gold.

  • I've never seen this clip before; I think it's great! Of course, anything they did on the show that included David was great! :)

  • Wonder just how big that last family really is, and how big is their home?

  • Is the Pumpkin father performed by Jim Henson ?

  • @Clamanath You mean the father on the left in the in the lower right section of the video? Nope, that's Frank Oz, according to muppetfan33 who posted down below.

I also think that the kid in the lower left corner is done by Jerry Nelson, because his voice sounds similar to that of Kermit's nephew, Robin.

Can anyone tell me who does the "Fat Blue" muppet in the upper left? The singing voice sounds similar to "Fat Blue/Mr. Johnson" who appeared with Grover in those well-known restaurant skits.

  • My parents divorced when I was ten, and for the next several years, I lived alone with my mom. I then spent three years living with my dad and stepmother in the U.S. (I spent most of my life, and still live in, Saskatchewan, Canada) when I was a teenager.

  • @Pocockable

In your post, you have offered us one more example of what it is like to be a part of a "family"! Thank you very much for sharing!

  • yay this showe tought mi howe to spell and i am fourevor greatful.

  • @brandoncipelle

Another great sense of You Tube humor! Glad to know you!

  • What season is this from? I don't remember.

  • @hgwilt1

I believe this is from Season 10 (1978-1979).

  • @hgwilt1

I am not sure, but I believe that it came out in the season of 1977/78.

  • Ahh, this is simply sweet! It doesn't matter how many folks are in a family, but as long as the family lives on love for one another, that's what matters! Love the cute baby in the first family! :)

  • Those who produced SS now should just air old clips like this one.

  • Aww, this is so adorable! The family in the bottom right-hand corner, that is one big family! Hey......wait a minute.....Roosevelt Franklin??

  • David's voice. HA!

  • Anyone know the song that the first family is humming? It sounds so familiar, it's just driving me crazy.

  • "Be it ever so humble, there's no place like home."

  • That's it! Thanks!

  • The brown kid sounds sorta like Frank Oz. Is it him?

  • You guessed it. He also played the brown bald guy with the glasses in the last family.

  • The family at the end must have a pretty big house!

  • They're like the huge family from Home Alone.

  • Oh, I've been waiting so long for this to show up here! Thank you so much for posting this great song!

  • The little girl with the kerchief at the end kind of reminded me of Beverly Mitchell as Lucy Camden on 7th Heaven.

  • I just can't help but love this video!

  • #1. Did anyone else notice that David's voice was akin to Professor Julius Kelp in the 1963 "The Nutty Professor"?

#2. There were different versions as to why Northern Calloway {"David"} passed away. Does anyone know the real reason?

  • I read that Northern Calloway had a mental breakdown toward the end. Whether the accounts are true or not, he should be remembered as a great performer on a terrific show.

  • Yes, he WAS a great performer! I will ALWAYS remember him as such! One of my favorites is when he was a (genie?), & played a wind instrument, & the number 12, wavered out of a lamp (or basket?), and a FEMALE voice said "Twelve". Has THIS video been posted yet?

  • Beats the heck out of that "Doing the Family Thing" song they play on Sesame Street now; the examples here are more vivid and the lyrics are more memorable. David's frustration in this clip is icing on the cake, too...five stars!

  • Very nice song. Happy Thanksgiving, MarshalGrover.

  • Absolutely fabulous! It is always great to know that families come in all shapes and sizes! Have a very happy Thanksgiving!

  • Northern is fantastic in this. He was so talented, and we miss him so. God bless you, David.

  • Thank you so much for posting this MarshalGrover. I loved this skit when I was a kid. :) Plus there are also families where kids live with an uncle or aunt or both, or where kids live with an older brother or sister or cousin, and kids who live with unrelated guardians.

  • Nice clip. This is the first time I saw it in its entirety.

I'm still waiting for someone to upload the clip with Gordon grouping loud and quiet families.

  • Have a Happy Toikey Day, with your friends and family. In this case, size doesn't matter =)

  • I love this.
