These animation films deserve moooore appreciation!
It's hard to imagine how much effort you two must've putten into this... well, all we see is the result, and it's magnificent! You guys are so talented... you are able to make soo much out of sooo little! In mostly all of your videos.
Well, it is certainly a compliment, I mean the movie itself is mind boggling, and your animation captures that exact sort of absurdist, goofball, super saturated color palette.
This was really cool! I love the sea creatures and the submarine from Balthazar the elephant. Actually, I like everything. Are you going to make any more videos, Spencer?
Que comentario malo el mio jaja .. pero en serio, me encanto .. so, i'd just like to give my very own congrats to mr murphy and spencer hensel (thats a great name..one of those that just sounds good..oh, i want one) !
Thanks. I actually like Grizzly Bear, but I hadn't known about that music video. After having just watched it I can definitely see the similarities. Very cool.
this is just brilliant, guys! well done with all the stop animation ryan (and of course all the work you did, spencer!!) i love watching you guys in all of your creative yet disturbing videos and i must say i imagined this to be what your minds are like...
This took awhile. A good portion of the time it was just Ryan and I sitting in my room cutting out paper creatures and seeing what worked. We had maybe 4 or 5 actual filming sessions, each of which lasted a couple of hours.
Cool stuff! The blinking at the beginning is very smooth. I have to ask as well though, was shooting at the slight angle a purposeful thing? I imagine so...
Originally it was supposed to be a straight on shot. It was more practical to put it at a slight angle, so we chose to do that instead. Ultimately, I was happy with the effect of the slight angle.
Is this a sex thing?

You should check out the band Grizzly Bear, this sort of reminds me of their song "Deep Sea Diver". Sort of kind of. Anyway, good stuff.

This is great! Spencer's got a wonderfully twisted mind. The lampfish was my favorite.
indieabby88 3 years ago 3
Well thank you. The lampfish was actually Ryan's concoction. I love that little guy.
lostandsafe 3 years ago 2
Hey, isn't that the same yellow...sub thing in Balthazar the Elephant? Just wondering...
Great video, btw :)
Once, I tried making a short stop-motion vid...Haha...Needless to say, it was a bit of a flop compared to this...
eringirl88 3 years ago 2
yep, its the same airship. its cool someone noticed that.

henselbaby2424 3 years ago 3
Great stuff!
Was it an artistic decision to shoot this at an angle instead of "straight on", or was the angle there for practical reasons?
i think it adds to the other-worldliness of the piece.
dannycolt 3 years ago 2
Thank you, dannycolt. I'm glad it had that effect for you.

... i would attempt something like this,
but i have no skillage.
and no time to gain said skillage.
it's omega entertaining.
like looking at an orangatang roll arround
at the san diego zoo.
or like watching people's hair get bleached.
doesn't sound intresting,
but i can garuante that it is, sort of....
forget that i said any of that...

Sweet, Ryan. infact, it was so sweet, Ive been getting bribes from Slugworth to steal it.
