it'll be a lot of work, ur almost better off with a mk1 and do some research , maybe u can use the subframe/components of a beetle rear engine or a toyota mr2 to make it easier.

Going rear engine was pretty stupid if the guys intentions were going RWD.

He could of just used and R32 engine and drive train to make it AWD.

and save a shit load of money and kept the engine in the front.

VW motors are near bulletproof. These motors aren't built with pencil sized rods like honda civics are. A decently built vw motor will last a LONG time. I have a 89vwgti with 198,000 miles. Still runs fine. RUBBADUBB
