good demonstration, but the way how the attacker attacks with knife is like newbie, i mean a well-trained military person would not attack you in such a way. Paul Vunak has better clue for knife i think.

@bibihang Funny how we judge our high-level masters as being no better than what we see in their basic level instruction. You should see this guy working with high level students. He is much better than many here are giving him credit for.

They are using live blades most of the time here so by they can't work at anything like proper speed. Also this old vid series was made b4 Vlad had really made a name for himself so I think some of the less practical work is somewhat showy for "cinematic" purposes. Even so I prefer a lot of Vlad's work on the old CRS series of vids to his more recent ones-I think the older style is closer to the real Spetz techniques. Just MHO

@Pomba199 No, it's pretty much the real deal. Some of it is VERY hard to understand until you feel it. Then again some things I DON'T agree with. But for the most part, these drills can be worked.

first of all Valdimir does not believe in techniques but concepts

secound buy the DVD's learn the drills.Start your own systema study group and go to the systema siminars.They are well worth the money

You may never be a good as him but soon enough you will become more skilled then you ever realised

Not talking about myself, I have trianed for 33 years now and tested lots of things live, unfortunatley. Seen a lot of systema and its not for me (just taste). Like to watch Vladimer and Oleg but its to complex for the average martial artist who need to make technique, especially knife technique when his adrenalin is pumping and fine motor skills have gone out of the window. I prefer combatives but still like the guys technique though

To be honest this video is clearly not Valdimir best work.However, speaking from my piont of video no one answers the questions of how to deal with knife attacks then Russian systema.

I feel their system is even better then the phillippies which everyone know are very good.

I have trained with systema guys and have experinced it for myself

me, personally, I have over 20 years in martial art training

So, tell me in your opinion what system are better then systema?
