Be sure and check with your local county clerk or registrar if you live in a "semi-closed" primary like California. In those states, it is up to each party whether to receive "unaffiliated" votes. In California, Democrats always do, and Republicans have in the past, but they did not for the '08 election, so be sure you check on this if you are in these "semi-closed" states.

@Gold21030 Incorrect; he says it should have no federal ban, meaning if a state has not banned it, it isn't illegal. With no federal ban, medical marijuana states like California would no longer be endlessly hassled. It would only be a matter of time at that point before more states legalize it for recreational use (as it already almost is here in CA, now only equivalent of a parking fine). He is, by far, the best and only candidate concerning drug legalization, bar none.

@saberswordsmen1 I agree he is the best when it comes to that issue, but California defeated the marijuana legalization bill and most states would outlaw it. I just don't think the approach of letting the states ban it is the right approach to the issue.

@Gold21030 That bill was narrowly defeated, and a large part of why it was voted against was because it was still illegal on the federal level. Keep in mind, it is practically legal in California already, minus federal invasion. Getting caught is the same as a parking ticket, and Mendocino County actually set up a registration system to work with growers, which the feds circumvented. I think feds decriminalize, it will be legal in most states, at least medically, within a few years

@kobedarott He's clearly stated he knows this, that we have become so dependent upon the Fed and welfare that we can't simply eliminate them right away, but that we must wean ourselves off of it. He's put together some detailed proposals at how to do this. So worrying about collapsing due to immediate abolishing of the Fed is not a concern.

It is clearly obvious when almost all members of congress signed the NDAA into law that one man (President) will not be able to stop the tyranny. Unfortunately the average US citizen is so pre-occupied that nothing will be or can be done to stop the inevitable hitler style collapse of the US not even RP. @kobedarott I think that's a bit of an overly pessimistic view. Make no mistake: We've reached this place of governmental tyranny due to a fault of our own: apathy; not due to predestination. Obama has been bipartisanly criticized for not using his bully pulpit to forward this issue; I would argue as a liberal has little interest in cutting anyway. Ron Paul does have an extreme interest in this and I have no doubt would use his clout to push for reforms; people rally about him.

Ok so I'm confused. If I vote in my state's (VA) primary, did I vote for president? Or do I get to vote again in something that isn't a primary? What's a general election, is that Obama vs the GOP nominee? Do I get to vote in that if I vote in the primary? When does it happen?

I read wikipedia but I'm so confused. Thanks for any good answers.

@gsus7125 The primary is where you vote for the person who will run against Obama in the general election this November. In closed primaries for the GOP candidate you must be a registered Republican. In open primaries you can vote regardless of your affiliation. You can vote in the general election as long as you are registered to vote and can vote for anyone regardless of your party affiliation.

Great video! But how does this stuff work if the votes are whisked off to be counted in secret? and nobody is held accountable? Its always been my contention that your vote doesn't matter in this country at all, and some stuff out of Iowa certainly seems to prove that. However, glad you made this video.
