black metal is usually just growling, but Kyo can do them all; sing low and high notes, scream, growl etc and he also sounds good, so I'd say Kyo is pretty much more talented than some black metal vocalists.
I don't think he is half-assing his performance. He is very talented but screaming and growling just to try to sing takes a lot out of you. As an amatour singer just singing for more than hour non-stop takes a lot out of me. He is not only singing but growling and screaming and sometimes you have to cut off the lyrics and not finish the note. Hell standing still is hard enough to do that but to jump, shake, and bang your head at the same time. it's amasing his live sounds as good as it does.
hmm... is it just me or has Kyo bcome a litle bit... "meh..." with his vocals lately... I mena he kinds of doesn't seem to care... and then breaks in with a scream as if he decided "since I'm up here might as well sing"... hmm... still love 'em... I just hate it when bands due that.
HYave whatever fucking oppinion you want, fact is it doesn't take much more effort to say the right fucking words as the right time withthe right infliction... now say it's the end of the show and he's doing a very difficult vocal for a song, then I can understand. But the fact is that it was his fault for doing a set he could bring fully. I'm not saying he doesn't care, but it's what his effort implies. Plus half assing it on stage during the song doesn't account for caring.
You contradict yourself by saying his efforts imply him not caring while saying you don't think he doesn't care. I could care less if you think that. What I'm saying however is what I saw from this performance, while not ideal from Kyo, didn't 'imply' a half-assing non-caring vocalist whose 'singing' just because he's on stage. Which is what your saying. And how is it his own fault for doing a set he can't do fully? For all you know he doesn't even choose the set.
And even if he picked the set, whose to say he didn't pick it with the mind-frame of giving a performance to give as insane of a concert as possible? Misjudging his stamina/vocal ability at the time or whatever else. He's not god. You can't blame him for being human enough to become exhausted. And what? Haha. Concert night after night, to then perform a dozen songs+ before another performance can make it pretty hard to sing on key. Most of his pauses gave leeway to the instruments though.
I agree with you totally SekaisEmbrace. Its very hard for a vocalist to get everything on key after screaming his lungs out night after night. I know I've tried and it sucks when you can't get the words in. It puts that strain on you and people may think you are doing it on purpose. I don't want to lose my voice entirely, just enough to get throught the performance. I'll get back to you when I see them this Saturday in Los Angeles.

Haha. Old display of his lives; but I'm chiming in anyways.
All I have to say is look at his face and energy. If he didn't give a damn then he'd just be standing there staring gloomily into the audience.
He's sweating, probably tired, and probably aching from spazzing about like such. So saying "it's like he doesn't care" is beyond false judgment.
