  • So damn awesome.

  • Why is my internet running so fucking slow? I'm about to shove my fist up someone's dickhole.

  • another one of my faves..

  • I can only say that after seeing the 'Hoods more than 200 times that somehow I still do feel as if they were mishandled, redirected...something, I dunno. The '79 Rumble at The Rat cassette, in my opinion, is one of the greatest live rock sets of all time. I'm old and I've heard a bunch. As Oedipus said in his intro for the rumble, "they put the hood back in rock and roll, The Neighborhoods!"

  • was there one specific thing that kept these guys from being huge? im an 18 year old kid and i think that these guys are fucking amazing

  • @dambtheman1 Boston was too far ahead of the curve. Look at Mission of Burma. Happy to say the first non-arena show I ever saw was the Neighborhoods in the early 80's.

  • @dambtheman1 light years ahead of their time. As awesome as it sounds, then and now. It just was not what was selling at the time.

  • David Minehan, Paul Westerberg, Jack Lee... Lot's of guys should be recognize as part of the best.

  • Dave is a man who loves the music. Just like he did with Westerber!

  • Wow, it's incredible to see this. I was there and it really was all that and then some... thanks so much

  • The Neighborhoods are playing tomorrow night. The Neighborhoods wsg Thinner and Super 400 (yeah!) Ralph's Diner Worcester, MA Dec 15, 2007 9pm - $15 Burma For Burma Benefit w/ Mission Of Burma and The Neighborhoods Sunday, January 20th, 2008 Great Scott 1222 Commonwealth Ave. Allston, MA 02134 $15, 21+, 9PM Doors
  • Hard to emphasize how gutsy it was in the late 70s for Minehan to rock out with nothing but jeans, sneakers, a tight shirt and his talent. I didn't live in Boston at the time, but I have to imagine he took a huge amount of shit for it. Quite an original.

  • If the hoods did a vid at the Rat did any other bands? thats amazing! I saw them for the first time at the Main Act in Lynn.

  • O'That Bowie....huge fan...is he still hangin around!!

HOOD'S 07 "Let's ROCK" some sox!!!! It's gonna be SwElL...ya gotta love monday.

  • Crazy -- Neighborhoods at the Rat in 79 ! And after all these years, they still smoke !

It has to be said that back in 1979, The Neighborhoods arrived on the already crowded Boston music scene like a detonation. This video really captures what they were like back then, so raw and exuberant; little wonder why Bowie was quoted that year as saying that The Neighborhoods were his favorite American band...

Thanks, and post more 'Hoods if you have any!
