@jazzzzdude Hmmm, let's see in "45" years of listening I think I've been sleep once or twice with trane in the background. Slept like a baby I'm sure; relaxed, not so sure. When going to sleep to my man it's from being drawn into a beautiful conversation and trying to decipher then I get tired and fall asleep. I was only blessed with two ears so listening in a different way is often trying. I will say I've never listened to trane while snorkeling..maybe that would be relaxing.
Its like going his mind going back and forth between temptation of the nightlife and watching the love of his life sleep. Not many musicians can tell a story like he can
I just discovered Coltrane and I have a day full of downloading
Thank You family Guy
for informing me
on the episode where Bryan Quagmyer and Clevland go on the Bachorlette and they are riding horses and the girl hides from the other guys then she list her favorite musicians and one of them was Coltrane and I was like who is he?
I remember hearing this when I was kid - many years ago -Nelson Eddie and Jeanette McDonald - in a Russian setting , balcony, Balalaika and the whole nine yards. It was moving then and it is a magic wand in the hands of Trane. Bravo! And Long Live the romantic Ballads.
we regret to inform you that you have come to your limit as to how many JOHN COLTRANE'S you may add as favorites ,please pick something else in another genre, YOUR PAL AS ALWAYS..........YOU TUBE!!!!!!!!! ;)
Funny; no matter what Trane has ever laid down I've never found it a bit relaxing - not in 45 years of listening. It's always too damn intriguing and complex...always alert. Many jazz musicians that can put you to rest, Trane for me, I have to hear everything he's doing.
@outersun yes exactly even a slow "relaxing" tune like this, there are so many subtleties and shadings in his performance...it doesn't make me sleepy, it makes me want to hear more 'Trane!
@outersun This is true, but within the context of the complexities and intricacies also lies truth. Revelation of truth brings peace to me :) Relaxation and attention are not mutually exclusive and, I believe, can actually feed each other. A True Master such as JC can show us the way to freedom.
@imperioindigena I never saw an apology and why would you say "no one likes your fucking brain? Do you speak for others or are you many in one? I think you are insane
@imperioindigena Have no idea why you are calling me names. If you read my comment you would see that I love Coltrane. I have the feeling you get no sex and thats why you insult innocent people like me . I said "No one like Coltrane" meaning there's no one like Coltrane. You obviously live under a rock and have no idea how to read comments.
I use to call this the theme music to my life. It's fast, it's slow; sometimes I play as part of a duo others I do a solo. It speeds right along and sometimes its a drag. Oh.. and a testament to COLTRANE: this dude was badass. Love this song
What a full, gorgeous tone. I would listen to him practice long tones all day.

@outersun you haven't learnt to listen to music in different ways yet then. Try listening to it while you are asleep.

Coltrane, his music will last for a long, long time, like some famous classical musician.
