  • Coventry airport has now closed down

  • @djvhyper2008 it's back in operation since

  • I have always wondered what take off from Baginton looks like. Now I know :)

  • very nice!!!

  • Flying out to Jersey. I don't think this service is available from Coventry anymore ( hanks to cybergrycer for the info), which is a real shame.

  • Where were you flying to? :)

  • I dont like the 737s as much..but cool video! =D

  • Sadly, since I last posted this has all become a piece of history - Thomsonfly have stopped flying from both Coventry and Jersey. In fact there are currently no scheduled airlines serving Coventry at all. So it's good to have the video here as a memento.

    BTW, hope dUSTY's doing well - he's a real cutie! :-)

  • One thing i hate on flights is thoese damn kids. You always get them, either screaming or whining about something.

  • i know exactly how you feel

  • I NOW GO TOMMOROW!!!

from coventry (CVT) to palma de mallorca (PMI)

    my flight is at 7:00am

  • this will be me in 3 weeks time

  • i now go in 3 days!!!!

  • cheers, good enough for me,be good to know how u know that is leamington spa,as i am local to the area and cudnt tell lol

  • ok cheers,seems a little steep,but thanks for replying

  • You're welcome Wayne - I've seen that rate of climb showing on the VSI in numerous B737 cockpit videos, pretty well all the way up to cruise, but it of course partially depends on what ATC instructs. In this vid, you'll notice the plane levelled off near Leamington Spa, partly so as to raise the flaps, but also to await clearance up into the airway after its Standard Instrument Departure (SID).

  • any body any ideas on the general vertical speed of a boeing 737 on climb to cruise altitude ?

  • They seem to manage around 3000ft./min. without too much difficulty.

  • Thanks for the tip - they've got some really good vids! My next step is to have a trial flight in a Cessna 172 - can't wait, but like you am excited and nervous at the same time :-D

  • Sounds fantastic. Forgot to add my hearty recommendation of the ITVV cockpit DVDs; e.g. the 737-300 is just a slightly longer version of what you flew to Jersey in. Best of British with your flying adventures! :-)

  • Hey, well done! :-) I still get a bit anxious flying but love it all the same, if that makes any sense. BTW, there are loads of good videos on YouTube that show you what goes on in the cockpit, which can be a big help - I'd highly recommend the user JustPlanes for starters.
