  • There is no excuse for what is done to TWH's, but I resent the phrase "...why soring Gaited Horses is wrong and Inhumane." It implies these barbaric soring practices are used on all gaited horses. This is not true and is a great disservice to other breeds, their trainers and their supporters.

  • Wait let me get this straight...

Horses give us unconditional love and will do anything to please us.

Then people come along and inflict pain and suffering on them?

Hmm thats something that will make your parents proud ha!

  • These poor animals. Everything about showing these horses is inhumane. The soring those massive pads, and the fact that those riders a) can't ride at all b) are sitting right on the haunches of horse who's back strength is already severly compromised thanks to being forced to travel so uphill. This is disgusting.

  • No horseman would do this to a horse !

  • some horses do their movements naturally, some do not, and those people who 'influence' the gaits with these neanderthal like treatments do not deserve to be near any animal and should be jailed and sored themselves

  • The people in those pictures need to be strapped into some 6 inch Manolo Blahniks and made to run for their lives for about twenty miles. What is the matter with them? Watching those horses perform is a lovely as watching ballet done by women who had their feet bound.

  • die müssen ihre pferde echt hassen um sowas fertig zu bringen. scheiß menschen!!

  • You know, for as much crap us saddlebred and morgan people go through, we sure don't do any of this stuff!

  • If I see someone doing that, I'm gonna give them a nice fist to the face.

  • JC. How AWEFULL!!!!!!!!!!!! Men can be cruel

  • this is sooo baaaaaad :(

  • Thank-you for making this video! You should be awarded a medal from the White House!

Rich control freaks love to show there horses. They believe it makes them have class. Without

caring about the horse or loving there own animal. I bet, animal lovers think horse owners who do this, are sick people, who need to be fined for this behavior. I do! Anyone who participates

on any horse shows,in anyway, need to learn horsemanship. Horses do feel pain!

  • @jigreelo Lol, the white house?!?!

  • @jigreelo The white house? Seriously??! This is a shitty video, quality sucks, she didn't do all the research! I ride saddleseat. I have a 5 gaited saddlebred that brings his hooves up to his chest without anything and I enter shows and my friends have the same with out soring! at 3:07, all those nails aren't going in the horses hooves, they are in the pad below. Any person with a brain could see that, only a few enter a hoof and that is what you do to put a shoe in go fuck urself

  • @funnysummerfun im talking to the person doing this video, not you to go fuck themself and die in a hole

  • @funnysummerfun You are totally nuts if you think all those nails are in the pad and not penetrating into the horses sole. Get some education.

  • @ksamuraip Dude, look in the photo, the nails are in the pads, only a few slightly enter the hoof, unless the horse's hoof is that thick. If you have something against against a few nails in a horse's hoof then you must find horse shoes abuse.

  • @funnysummerfun You are obviously an inhumane person. I pity any animals you have. Everything about the methods used to make these horses step higher is abusive. What's the POINT????? Who wants to see horses moving like that. There is no purpose to any of it. Even if there was a purpose, it's inhumane and everyone connected to any of these methods needs to be jailed and TORTURED daily so they will understand the pain those horses suffer.

  • @ksamuraip inhumane? I am a 14 year old girl who shows in the world championship horse show 13 and under 5 gaited and won! I dont sore my horse and he brings his hooves up to his chest at all 5 gaits. It is natural to them, even foals high step at a young age. Inhumane? to let a horse do what it does naturally? i hate rude bitches like u who try to insult what is natural to a horse when they never even seen a saddlebred in action!

  • @funnysummerfun these aren't saddlebreds, these are tennessee walkers. Saddlebreds still use toeweights and pads, but nothing like this.

  • Well said cobador

  • Well done to inform more people about this. To the people who don't think that the heavy pads and shoes aren't bad; I wonder how long these big lick horses stay sound! Horses ridden naturally, can be ridden well into their 20s. Can the advocates of the heavy pads and shoeing claim this?

  • Danke für die Information. Die, die ihre Pferde lieben quälen sie nicht mit solchen Martyrermethoden. Der Mensch ist einfach grausam.

  • Oh god :(

  • Your facts even start off wrong, the walking horse came about way before the 1930's, instead of listening to someone that has never been to a training barn, maybe you should go visit one and see it first. I hate to break your heart but not everything you read online is true, no one likes to sore a horse, thats why there are inspections before each show and stiff fines. You need a lot more information before making a video like this, and I'm coming from both sides of the argument!

  • Personally this is rong! A tenesse walker should either be a wonderful racking on the trails horse OR a show horse but with noraml Qauter Horse shoes! And it's not okay. It hurts them! You dont believe me read the cover! Look at there eys look at there face! I find them stressed and hurt with no love. See it through there eyes people! Please...

  • its ok the people that use chemicals on TWH will go to hell and Burn for Eternity!!! for what they have Done to GODS horses.

  • @TheIntense66 Seriously!?!?/ God? I HATE the people that bring religion into this! YES! It is abuse but do we need religion to be involved? NO! I have to religion and I hate it when a random video mentions god,

  • Not ALL gated horses are Sored...some are just bred to have larger licks, but I agree MANY are sored, and it needs to stop.

  • wait a few years little girls and all you'll have on your mind is some good hard ....

  • Congratulations to these fine young horse women who must be real horse lovers to expose the cruel practices that supposed adult horse "lovers" ignore or participate in.

  • zum kotzen sowas!

  • SONS OF A HERD OF A THOUSAND BITCHES.

  • IDK

  • This is horrible. I knew about pads and chains but I didn't know about soring. I don't know why people want such an exaggerated gait anyway it looks so freakish and unnatural! These people don't deserve the privilege of working with horses.

  • @ashleighp2010 Chains and pads do not hurt the horse, it just adds weight so the horse think he/she needs to use more force to lift up his leg, creating bigger licks but it dosn't hurt them IF user PROPERLY!!!!

  • it's funny...i'm a saddleseat trainer and riding instructor who has horses on the a level circuit, and i have never used any of this, which proves horses can be beautiful and win natrually!

  • i used to show walkers and one show was mostly a big lick show... we (natural walker people) would go every year.. we might not have won but that didnt stop us from showing people that they look beautiful naturally :)

  • It looks so stupid! My question- WHY??? They are beautiful just as God made them to be, without the stupid shoes, chains, and chemicals.

  • Question why the heck would you do that anyway?????? IT LOOKS STUPID honestly some people just need to be locked up in a loony bin...

  • the souring of horses is abusse, i have a friend who rides big licks and i tell her all the time how wrong it is... i rode tennessee walking horses for 4 years, but we were completely against souring and would not attend any show that would have that going on.

  • A person that could do this doesn't deserve the right to own or be around any animal. This is sick and cruel. To be able to cause another living creature this type of torture and pain has to be someone with no heart and no compassion. Someone with no soul, this is the saddest thing I have seen and people that can do this only deserves the same to be done to them so they can experience the same pain. This made me cry!!! Heartless, just heartless!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • this is so sick

  • Something to be proud of............... NOT!

  • HORRIBLE!!!

  • This is horrible! How can people do this to their horses?

  • It's absolutely disgusting. I cannot believe that people would cause this sort of pain and distress just for a fucking RIBBON! And why doesn't anyone have the balls to actually remove these abused horses from their owners or kick them out of the ring. Nice one America.

  • @SuperCheryl13 Don't blame this on all people who ride horses in America. It is illegal. Only a handful of disgsting people do it. I ride saddleseat, but I would NEVER do this to my horse. If I knew someone who was doing this, I'd beat the living shit outta them. People have been trying to crack down on these abusive owners for years, but It seems that the habit is hard to break. And I don't ride TWH, I ride saddlebreds and you can't sore them. Common misconception.

  • I'm against weighted shoes to make a horse perform un naturally. if you can train it, go ahead but this is just gross and unatrual, why not celebrate a TW or SB natural gait! its beautiful!!

  • I own and show a gaited saddlebred and I want to make it clear that horses NATURALLY pick their feet up like that if they want to. Only TWH have shoes like that far as I know

  • !!!!!!!!!! sa ma dégoute !!! qu elle châtiment attends les "" homme "" qui fond de telle atrocité ??? le pire j espère pauvre chevaux :-(((

  • You will never see an ASB horse with feet like a TWH. Ever.....

  • William Shatner owns and shows American Saddlebred horses, These horses are beautifully taken care of, healthy, sound feet never ,ever sored. the end.

  • FYI William Shatner (Capt. Kirk from Star Trek) own and shows built ups.

  • Nobody has to report anybody. If HSUS really cares...well just have them go to the TWH shows or .....here is a novel idea...WATCH PERFORMANCE HORSES ON YOU TUBE. Good informative video. If you are horse shopping and someone tells you that the horse used to be a "built up" this is what they mean. :( !!

  • I am not sure how anyone could take pride in riding one of these horses in the ring. Those rediculous shoes they are forced to wear are so obviously cruel. Watching a horse move like that is NOT a natural or comfortable stride. I think SOME Saddlebreds are over done also but at least the gait is more normal. These poor horses appear to be throwing their legs out so far as to strain joints and muscles with each stride. It IS cruel and should NEVER be allowed.

  • so ne kranke abartige Scheiße kann ja nur wieder von dem Amis kommen.. Mich wunderts, dass die den armen Tieren nicht auch noch dicke Silikontitten hin operiert haben..

  • An btw Tiberiusdrasus! You are completly rong about that! I know not every person treats there horses! but these girls have shown the others who have, try to appreciate that! An btw ASB's wear weights like this about an are pushed the same way!

  • They also do this to saddlebreds! but not as much weights but still it's descusting! These horses are not even horses! They dont even have a chance in life to be come a real horse!

  • these people will burn in hell while the devil laughs at them.

  • This is a great well made video. I did a project on this once, and I know all about the cruelty under the beauty, from tail setting to beating your horse 'till he won't flinch. This video is great(not the cruelty part, the message in the video X3)

  • I have never seen something so sick in my life! This is poor behaviour and inhumane, good horse are beign wasted just so they can walk a certain way, why inflict pain on an animal that didn't do anything wrong! People like this sicken me and my stomach is ache-ing from that site. In no way did the high-stepping gait impress me. It is honestly disrepectful! I'd like to "sore" all the humans that did this to these innocent creatures!!!!!!!!!

  • @85Bigmane I understand where you are coming from, some horses do have more exaggerated gaits than others, and it can be bred for. This video did not accuse everyone of doing this to their horses. It is illegal however and more should be done to protect this breed. I have worked with TN walkers my whole life and they are one of the best breeds in my opinion. They have wonderful dispositions and the ones we had were wonderful with children .

  • Get the public broadcasting involved ~ local television, CNN, whatever so that people are aware. Only horse people frequent these videos as a rule. Not only does it look grossly unnatural but the horse is obviously moving in excrutiating pain, making the rider/trainer look retarded. Is that the effect they want? This is all about vanity. These people should be roadridden with no shoes until their feet are bleeding and falling apart. This shows a morally bankrupt society. USA, USA ~ Booooooo!

  • This shows just how much people are willing to destroy a perfectly good horse for. The breaking of their tails is what bothers me the most.

  • We have a TWH that will do this with light shoes on... These horses are bred for this. We also have horses with pads and stacks, they are never sore and never had those chemicals

  • Very cruel to the horse. Why????

  • @qtrhorse23 Because in the twh world in 'enhances the gait'. Though I see no beauty in this. We don't sore in the Saddlebred world because it would make your horse off and look lame and you would get disqualified. Just a small amount of sick trainers in the twh world still do it; Though its illegal. They check your horse at shows nowadays to make sure they aren't sored.

  • The American Horse Show Association has written rules to outlaw these practices.

Most shows of these horses fall under these rules. As long as there are people who care more for their own fame than the horse's welfare this will happen. It will stop when the public will not pay for it in tickets, breeding fees, and the purchase of these animals. People love to see the Big Lick Horse, so the problem persists.

  • i actually feel physically sick. why the animal protection services are not coming down on these sorts of people like a ton of bricks is beyond me. this should be punishable by law for animal cruelty. i am shocked and disgusted.

  • i didn't know about this! this is horrible! thank you soooo much for makeing me aware of this :LL this is so horrible... i can't get over how much pain these poor poor horses must be in :'(

  • Great video to help bring awareness to such a HORRIBLE inhumane practice. There are alot of inhumane practices used by a variety of different styles. I've heard about western pleasure trainers using coathangers in place of headstalls and tying horses heads down for hours at a time. People need to raise awareness and take a stand.

  • Bless You!

  • I had no Idea about this! I am glad you guys made this video not only for a project but to inform the public! I am wanting to to help this is unbelieveable what people do to make money.! They need to find a new Hobby!

  • I've seen first hand the pain and damage this causes, if they can't develop the horse's natural ability' maybe he doesn't have any!! Not all football players are nfl quality not all horses are either leave them alone!!!

  • I've seen first hand the pain and damage this causes if they can't develop the horse's natural ability' maybe he doesn't have any!! Not all football players are nfl quality not all horses are either leave them alone!!!

  • As a Gaited Horse lover, and a daughter of a once MFT trainer, I must say that I think soring is awful, but I also have friends who show Gaited Horses who would never even consider soring their horse. Its really going to take breed associations making it illegal to stop it.

  • It is foul what people like that do for show purposes. I live in a UK and I own a rescue horse, who used to belong to travelers. A gait they made a horse do was pacing, and to do this I think they chained his 2 frontlegs together when exercising him. He now has a large permanent skin sore and scar of lumpy skin above his hoof. I never owned my horse when the wound was fresh as I didn't get to him soon enough. But the scar shows the damage. Horses are meant to be natural, don't tamper with it.

  • Do NOT interfere with nature....for the sake of the animals....I beg you.

  • I ride a natural Walker...big lick looks retarded.

  • So much for faith hope and love, then.

  • you speak wery unclear , but the video makes me so f*cking angry , GRRRRRR!! great video though becouse you get an insigth in what is happening to this world !!!!

  • It is happening less and less and the only people still doing these things are the ones too lazy to do it correctly. Thanks to everyone who doesnt do thins, and trains there horses correctly.

  • Is is a lack of education that people think this way. We raised and trained TWH and we used Mustard oil, chains and full shod horses. People who did not know what they were doing did manage to harm/ hurt horses. But it is like owning a gun... Idiots will always mess everything up. The horses were checked by the judges and if they saw any sign of these then the horse was disqualified.

Soring is only done during training. Since horses are fast learners this does not take a LOT of time.

  • @Ath33na Nice to know there are people so amoral they will openly admit to torturing their animals. Of course the horses are fast learners; animals will learn to do about anything to avoid PAIN. You are using caustic chemicals, shoes and chains to cause PAIN. And why? For money. The same results can be obtained through patience and training...unless you're going for the grossly unnatural "big lick". I hope the judges of your shows recognize and disqualify you. After they call the SPCA.

  • Using those products you just admitted to using on your horse is illegal, plain a simple. as far as the judges check, y

You of all people know that there are lots of ways to hide soring, since you seem to be such an "expert " at it. I truly feel sorry for your horses. It is obvious a ribbon is worth more than the comfort of your animals.

  • Hur sjuka kan folk bli...

  • i totally agree that doing this is waaay wrong, but I just hope uneducated people dont think all people who have high stepping horses do this. I ride arabians and half arabians and they have lots of knee action (not to this extent) but it is done completely naturally. I just really hope that people think all breeds do this to their horses. because they dont.

  • Thank you for doing the research. The sad thing is that even today, after decades of HPA enforcement, there are hundred of HPA violations per year in the TWH industry.

2 things need to be done:

    (1) Allow only keg shod or barefoot horses.

    (2) The judges need the reward only horses with a natural way of going. NOT animated!

  • OMG!!!!! I had never herd of this never seen this!!! How can this kind of crap exisit????? What is going on with this world????? It makes me so so mad!! I just dont understand why???? why???? if people were do things this crule to kids they would be jailed for life!! But you do it to an animal and its OK??!!!! WTF!!!! So many ppl in this world ned to be shot!!

  • WTF?

    It´s terrible!!!

  • I'm wondering how these shower's and breeders here bring their horses to walk that stupid. You can't tell me it's through breeding selection... Not that way. Maybe there are people nice and kind to their show horses, but this is still not right. Just what I think. And you don't have to start the 'the other horse disciplines' I know there are enough that aren't very naturally. But this seems very wrong? Help me to understand it better maybe. I don't want to flame.

  • So cruel and legal in America?! Unbelivable!

  • Horrifying!!

  • i trained saddlebreds, and used pads the limit was 3 inches on hooves we[I]never used chemicals nails or golfballs to enhance a horses performance ,weASA, knew that Racking horses and Tennessee Walkers do this constantly , and will,[have] reported them to authorities

  • What is wrong with these people? :(

  • tell them speek the truth

  • @Appaloosapinto His name is Valor and i have him barefoot.

  • even the most minute, the trainer and owner can be fined and subject to prosecution for cruelty to animals. So before you start criticizing the TWH industry for turning a blind eye, remember that ANY one involved with Equine Activities is able to harm a horse, whether it be on purpose or accidental. Look at racehorses, hunter jumpers. Is pumping a horse full of steroids okay? Or putting harsh bits in their mouth alright with you? I don't think so. So go do your dressage and shut the hell up.

  • In response to all the negative comments. YES soring your horses in the TWH industry is ILLEGAL. Before you are LEGALLY allowed to enter your big lick horse into the show ring, you have to pass through the DQP. DQP standing for Designated Qualified Person, that is employed through the USDA to inspect these horses for soring through a series of tests that not only inspects soring on their hooves but under the saddle for various reasons. If a horse shows signs of soring in ANY way

  • Terrible terrible ..a reason for to do somethig....Horselovers WAKE UP!

STOP this pervers "passion"WAKE UP AMERICA!!!!!!Who are the animal angels?????

  • I get so fucking mad I fell like beating the hell out of the persons doing this to the poor horses!!

Why the hell is persons allowed to start a horse that shows pain in its eyes or movements?!?!?!

Here in Europe if a horse shows pain they are not allowed to start, the judges tells the person to go home and if they suspect animalcrulty the will talk to him/her and report him/her to the police!

Why aren't you Americans stopping this?!

How can you sheer on a person torturing their horse?!

  • That looks really painful putting those shoes on the horse =( I mean walking the horse around...

  • Okay first of all, all you people need to back off! They're girl scouts. They did their research! Is this not in the industry? Are they lying? NO.

I'm a ASB lover, rider, enthusiast for 20 years.

I think they're just trying to make this known to people who don't know this happens at all. They didn't say ALL TWHs are treated this way.

I understand your frustrations. Just because one person got caught with their hand in the cookie jar per say, doesn't mean all of us are thieves.

  • horses of your own well let me tell you no other horse industry is any better ever wonder how they make western pleasure horses hang their heads so low its not pretty they put a needle in their neck and drain five gallons of blood out that just sounds like the a HUMANE thing to do right there I put plastic on my horses after I bathe them on their way to horse shows to keep baby powder on their legs so they are nice and white when I get there I think you should do a little more research

  • GIRL SCOUTS IN NEW YORK you have to be kidding me have you ever really seen a padded walking horse in person or have you just seen pictures on the internet Being from Tennessee and having several Tennessee Walking Horses that I show and have been padded in the past let me assure you most of these horses live a better life in a better place with better food and care then you probably do that is so sad that people have nothing better to do then pick on the walking horse industry MAYBE you have

  • I present to you: Ignorance at it's Best!

Not all walkers are sored. I know many big lick walkers who live happy and healthy lives and I own a former big lick horse myself. Couldn't ask for a better horse.

  • They are very sick and demented. The people involved should have the same treatment applied to them.

  • Oh, God :(

  • ALL PADDED HORSES ARE NOT SORED!!! AND YOU NEED TO DO A LIL MORE RESEARCH!!!!

  • you need to really be quiet because you don't know about the breed the soring is wrong but you know what i know 21people who have big lick walkers and they are the most healthy horses you will ever see.

  • Comment removed

  • Excellent Video... you should do anouther... about some other breeds... Although I was dismayed by the Humane Society Addy on here...

  • Excellent Video... you should do anouther... about some other breeds...

  • my horse is TWH and shes has custom made things to make her gait i made them they are all fabric and i keep her barefoot they are very good and i wouldnt put nothing on my horse that if i were a horse i wouldnt want on me besides my tack and the bit

  • This is horrible These people are have something wrong with their head!

  • I can never stop coming to this video to see what a lot of uneducated people have to say. I can not believe how hypocritical people can honestly be. All riding disciplines are going to have GOOD and BAD. Just because a horse has been or is built up does not mean it is or been abused. Most people are totally oblivious to their own actions and preferred disciplines they don't care to jump down others throats for something they have NO problems doing themselves. Some people sore and it is VERY..

  • @luvmyabsolute wrong to do, but everyone just jumps to the conclusion that if it has pads its been sored. I think it is to each his own and if people like me, and others, enjoy doing this sport and do it legally without causing any harm to the horse (no more than can be caused when normally riding anyway) WTH does it hurt? I think people just need a reason to complain now a days. No matter if what they are complaining about is actual! If you don't like the way it looks, don't look!

  • Thats fucked up. Just leave the horses alone.

  • I am absolutely horrified about these practices, I cant believe that anybody would inflict this amount of suffering on a horse just to 'improve' their gate. I really hope that this becomes illegal soon. Thank god gated horses aren't popular in the UK, there would be a riot from the animal rights activists if soring was discovered here. I think America should take action!

  • Girls. I know you are young, but please learn to speak.. I will help your cause.

  • horses are not little toys that you can strap rocks onto their hoofs to make them look preatty, they are animals that look up to you when they need you but these horses are abused by being forced to go about their natural gaits for fame and fortune. this crap better be agienst the law because when i had to suffer through bording a horse that was seacretly being "sored" and one day broke its leg in the pasture because the owner was too careless to take the weits off his beautifull horse

  • if you all are so worried about horses being abused .. why dont you go and look up the H.R 503 act and help get it into place .. horses are shot in the head with a .22 and by their feet and killed everyday ... this would be a good project for the girl scouts ...

  • WHY is still legal???

The people who are doing this to their animals should be shot on sight!!!

Serios: Does the government in the States know about this? Is anyone trying to stop this the legal way?

I live in Europe and we have a lot stronger policy for animals. This would not be approoved, if it tries to start as competitions here, but what can we do to stop it in America?

  • @Veigaluso i expect that it still legal because they think oh its just a animal they feel know pain but any one who says or even thinks that should have it done to them or like you sed shot on sight because i agrre with u it is so crule and there only doing it to win a silly price.

  • @Veigaluso Soring is illegal in the U.S. just some people who have no respect for their horses still do it.

  • Just gonna put this out there I ride, own and show padded walking horses. I do not sore my horses and they are sound. Only padded up for parts of show season and go barefoot through the winter or flat shod if needed. I have one mare that loves her pads i swear she thinks they are her pretty high heels. Most people do not sore walking horses. I have never seen it or heard of it nor talked about it with any trainer from my area

  • @xxVixTHEvixenxx THANKYOU!!! NOT EVERYONE SORES THERE HORSES!!!

  • @LilMissMusic215 i agree with you. just because theres plantaion shoes, or they have pads on doesnt mean they have to be sore. like some people think. ive rode plently of padded walkers in my day, and never needed to sore any of them, people are calling this really inhumane when it is really, but they spot a walking horse and think automaticly its sore because it have a flashy gait, pads make alot of walking horses look like there sore when they really arent,

  • im glad that they have gotten so much strictor in gaited shows, i do need to correct you on one thing, im not trying to get an arguement with you, just because they are wrapped with plasic wrap doesnt mean they are sore. you think what you would like, but however, i have seen plently of this in training barns, even people in some other breed barns wrap with plasic wrap before a polo wrap. but you call me a lier all you want, ive learned this first hand.

  • i nearly cried while watching this ... :(

its so cruel ... thanks for uploading ...

  • This is awful! Thank you for posting this to inform people about this.

  • they are nothing like the saddlebred thats for sure. a down grade of a saddlebred that they are crossed out of

  • its disgusting. my next horse is going to be a big lick tennesee walker so i can rescue it

  • thats so sick and so sad ... :(

  • I cried when i watched this after reading about it in EQUUS. And NO this video sould not be taken off! Public awareness is VERY benefical. I now know what to look for if i see a lame horse. and so will all my friends because I sent them a link to the video.

  • You know, people who do this, is just terrible. Soring is horrible who the heck would do such a thing? My horse, Chief, can fling his legs up HIGH without those chains, boots, or soring. He just does it on command! I think people need to stop soring and find a way to get a horses' leg up high without HURTING THEM! I know some people tie ropes around the hoses legs and when they lift them up they pull the rope so they go higher and they eventually get it, and it doesn't hurt the horse.

  • i don't understand how anyone who loved horses could do this awful thing to them!!! i was shocked when watching this! :(

  • yes TWH REALLY IS NOT TRULY Gited this is sick F*ckers doing this. to get there horse to gait Buy a saddlebred u dont have to do this. This awful why is not out lwed altogether?

  • @meredithmz the TWH is a gaited horse but the natural gait of the walker is not as exatgerated as this. i used to own a walker and her gait was as smooth as butter. we had a trainer that kept telling us to use soring and pads to extend her gait but i am extreemly glad i said no. i looked it up a few weeks after and was apauled we needless to say fired the man. gypsy had a wonderful natural gait as do 90% of TWH's it is just sick ppl who do these things to them not all TWH owners are this cruel

  • @LittleMustangMare And what most people fail to mention is that breeding and training horses for the "big lick" circuit is absolutely destroying the breeds natural gait. They want more pacey horses than a trail/pleasure horse should ever have because they exhibit a better gait once you add pads.

  • @sstoval3 i agree like i said its dispicable what these people do to them for the sake of 'bettering the gait' it destroys the tendons, ligaments, and joints on the front and back legs though the detrioration on the hocks is heavier than on the knees in front. i personally think once you add on the pads the gait looks to abnormal to ever be considered beautiful. we bred gypsy twice to a flat cut stallion and both of the foals came out beautiful with a wonderful natural gait no pads needed

  • @meredithmz

Do you know anything about walkers? They are naturally gaited. This is screwed up but I have ridden many a walker that didn't even have shoes on that exhibited a beautiful gate. I'm from Shelbyville, TN. I HATE padded walkers. IMO its cruel and inhumane treatment. But even around here we still have a lot of people breeding great pleasure horses that gait without anything being done.

  • thanks to whoever made this, informing people and showing what really happens to these beautiful horses. how poor minded people destroy them.

  • Great job on this video! :D

  • ich könnt kotzen !!!!

  • This is why saddlebreds kick ass. Natural baby. These poor horses, the trainers are pieces of shit.

  • @MonteStrides You're a fool if you think this doesn't happen to Saddlebreds. They have high gaits, yeah? Think about it.

  • @graiminy I own a saddlebred & know for a fact that this doesn't happen to them.

  • @MonteStrides not all TWH owners do this to their horses. i for one never used pads when i rode mine whether in a show or for pleasure her gait was as natural as a heat wave in texas. and all breeds are exposed to the same if not worse conditions even if in different ways. the mustang was found to be a hardy breed so was mostly used as fresh meat in the early days as bronch horses miniture horses were found to eat less and be more strudy so they were used as cart pullers in coal mines.

  • I also own a TWH! I know not all do them. Just the ones featured in this video.

  • @MonteStrides kay i just wanted to point it out just in case some ppl ignorant to well most things get on here watch a very informative video like this and then take it over board and say stuff like this is why ppl who own TWH's are bad and stuff like that.

  • Yeah. I know. It is the same with any discipline.

  • may the consciousness of the world rise so that this abuse may end. Bless these animal who endure so much pain for our pleasure.

  • It is amazing how people will flock to an idea with only taking a single persons view of an issue. If you take time to look at the horse industry and what practices breaks down horses faster maybe you should look at Polo or Dressage or Horse racing any high demand sport that horses are used in takes a toll on there bodies especially there feet. Maybe people should actually take a look at things for themselves before creating an opinion. I grew up the son of a farrier and have seen alot.

  • People who insist that their horses must have a "big-lick" gait in order to be "pretty" have some very serious insecurity issues. They also may have some kind of other mental disorders that makes them think cutting and smashing up a horses tail to an unnatural height is an improvement over the way God made it. I suggest a psychotherapist and perhaps medication.

  • I'm shocked! This is so sick! How could you do that to a horse?

  • I also loathe soring or mistreatment of any animals, period. But if you purchase products in America many products were first tested on animals, very cruelly, too.

If your gonna get on here and crybaby about how some others act by appealing almost purely to one's emotional level least you can do is clean up your own backyard first.

Like another for instance, Parelli mutilating by emasculation every male horse he can.

What would hurt most, soring or your nuts cut off?

    And learn to speak clearly.
