It's a shame that the U.S. Government didn't bail out the textile industry like they are doing to the Big 3. Everyone should write their U.S. Senators and Congressmen and let them know how disappointed they are in this.

God I know your comment is old as shit. But what would be the point, without a tariff to protect the US textile industry then would have went under again. You CANNOT compete against a country that has no environmental, safety or labor regulations. Not to mention a country with substandard living conditiions.

Funny thing is Americans need only pay 5-10 dollars more for an American textile product. Unfortunately we continue to send our money out of this country!

@Allante715 Exactly! Lost my job of 16yr. in the hosiery. Americans want to earn $18-24 hr. But expect to buy $8 blue jeans, shirts $6 and a pair of shoes for $ 14. When I was a kid Sam Walton was all about helping Americans. I wonder what he would think about his creation now?
