As the Industrial Revolution came closer and closer the people began to think more about the relationship between man and man. 1776 the Quaker people were the first to disagree completely with slavery. Once the Constitution was written in 1787 slavery and the Industrial Revolution were at prime heights. The North wanted to get rid of slavery as the South wanted to keep it. When one considers how huge $17 billion is today, it becomes almost unfathomable that the slave trade industry could generate that much revenue in early colonial times.
