Spin up speeds really only have a significant affect on the burst transfer rate and seek time from an idle state. Any sort of sustained transfer rate is not impacted by spin up speeds. If you're actually referring to the RPM's of the drive, there is an impact, but the 2Big still can sustain around 300MB/s... several times faster than FW or USB
you people do know that the transfer speed depends on the speed of both the computer's and the LaCie hard drive right? hard drives (SSD included) aren't even as fast as usb 3.0 yet so this is essentially a useless money grab.
I know it's just hitting the shelves and all but those prizes are hefty! And it doesnt even include the cable.
Did Lacie screw up the text by the way? It says "Daisy-Chain for increased speed and flexibility" so the speed will increase if I daisy-chain a few of these? Don't think that's right...
I bought one this month but I have a doubt.
Can I make partitions on SSD? I want to install Windows 7 to use on my Macbook Pro to play game. Is this possible?

I just can´t be more happy, it's shocking good, really. I love it. I just makes it easier and faster for those who deal with data every day.

wouldn't it be pointless if you're using a hdd?...the spin speeds will just choke it up..only the ssd would make sense with thunderbolt..

i don't think the average person will buy 4 thunderbolt hard drives. I mean, each one costs about 600 bucks

Anyone know what that case at :37 is?

a portable 2.5" hard drive who requires external Ac power to work is pretty non-sense IMHO ..

Maybe the IO can transfer 10 Gbit/s, but how about the drive itself? It's kinda pointless if it's eg. 4 Gbit/s (0,5 Gigabytes / sec)
