@arjean0110 plug in your headset and do the basics if you can't find any way around it. this video was created for v10, things may be different with the current version. If you can recreate the mobile environment, all the better. (some devices enable you to plug them into your computer like a microphone, that would be ideal for testing.

In version 10 it wasn't practical if it wasn't your own voice. Possible, yes. Practical, no. i haven't tested this anew with the latest version of Dragon on a PC, but based on my experience with dragon dictate on my ipad, I think we mmight be geting closer to the point where things are getting closer to being practical.

You can upload mp3 files if you have the preferred version, but not with the cheapest version, home.  If its a shory message, I'd just skip it and use the free Dragon Dictation program for iphone or ipad. I would only worry about this these days if it is more than 60 seconds of dictation.

@Akilah its more normal to use a headset in the firstplace. :) This example did not use a headset at all (ergo I spoke into the microphone of a MP3 recorder, which recorded a file that was later loaded into dragon on my pc)

when you connected the recorder to the laptop did you have to use the headsets for the DNS to transcribe? could the transcribe be done with the purchase of headsets?

I watched this video because it came up on a google search, I completely failed to notice the drop down to choose mp3.. I thought it was only going to work with WAV which would have been a pain. Feel pretty dumb on that one...

I am thinking about buying this. I transcribe video for a deaf friend. Did you have to train it to your specific voice, or can you get a decent transcription from any single speaker with a decent audio file?

I've used it with XP for a couple years and Vista 32 bit since last November. They just came out with an update(10.1) that works for Vista 64 bit as well, but I haven't had a chance to download and test it myself.

You need Dragon Naturally Speaking Preferred 10 and I'm using a Sony Voice Recorder ICD-UX70. I haven't tried them yet but Olympus has some very good voice recorders these days that might even work better.

The recorder has a USB plug on it, and just plugs into any computer with usb. A headset with a standard 3.5mm jack can be used with the pocket recorder also.

On this particular test,I did not get a solid 'percentage' measure. As I recall there were 2 words that were incorrect from the text that you can see in the video. I'm still trying to perfect a video method for capturing this capability, highlighting the accuracy as it transcribes without slowing my machine down with the video capture program itself.
