I love Ron Paul despite the hijacking of the tea party by the mainstream. I can't refer to myself as a tea-party supporter though. At this point, it would be an embarrassment. Original income tax was only to be on the wealthiests income. Why not tax the wealthiests assets. Since the wealthest are those best able to offset their income through debt. Conceivable the national debt could be paid off in a few years.

The federal reserve is corporatism and Ron Paul from the very beginning has been trying to dismantle the Fed. Credit got us into this mess, pal. Manipulation of interest rates, etc. Rather than harboring a polarized attitude why not study our financial system and see what went wrong, then see if your attitude about Paul remains the same.

I'm 100% with Ron Paul and a liberty movement. Tea party movement (the real movement, not the hokish Palin, etc. people stealing the Tea Party name) is the savior of this nation. It exists because of the failures and radicalism of our government, both democratic and republican. The only way I can see to make the gov't smaller is to divide the country up into four nations (following the model of the small union of 13 colonies). Once the gov't is physically smaller; it is easier to keep up with: you would only have 26 senators and 13 governors to keep up with. With the size of the country today; it's impossible to have a smaller government.

@merlinspower Not necessarily. Its getting harder and harder to dodge it - Obama actually signed worked to stop corrupt off shore accounts. Some taxes are bad and we need to adress that , and the fed , but that doesn't mean we loose all hope. Most of the problem with government expansion is it was in the wrong direction - that doesn't mean the government can't build up American society by effective and reasonable taxation - such as with unhealthy foods.

Of course I have read the document, but what is says isn't important, what is important is the power that it gave to the federal government. @darkrider441 It replaced the articles of confederation and created a new federal government with the ability to make and interpret it's own law. It was supposed to also limit what that federal government was supposed to do, I don't know if you noticed or not but it hasn't limited the government much at all, because it gave the state to decide for itself what it's power was. Is it really a big surprise that the state decided in favor of itself? What is so har to understand?
To my original statement: If you moderate alcohol use, you can still do whatever you want. If you don't watch your intake and are hammered, well then that was your choice to drink so much so now you have to watch what you do. Same can be applied with marijuana, if you do not watch what you do and you intake a ton of it, then you shouldn't drive either, and likewise if you moderate you can still function just fine. That's the personal choice: Moderation. Government cannot force you to moderate.
The problem with marijuana use in your own home being illegal is that it doesn't harm anyone else's liberty, just like drinking in your own home doesn't. Now if your argument is 'well you may harm someone in your own home because of x drug' well that's not a case you can argue because it's pure speculation. That would say that alcohol should be illegal because some men beat their wives while drunk at home. The problem is when you restrict if for those who are responsible.
It is indeed true you shouldn't operate machinery under the influence of drugs. Part of the reason why marijuana use limits your freedom of choice is because it's illegal. However the argument isn't whether it limits your choice because of individual action, the argument is that it limits your choice because of mandates outside of your own action. Alcohol is illegal to drive under the influence because it can harm others and inflict damage upon THEIR individual liberty.

I love Ron Paul despite the hijacking of the tea party by the mainstream. I can't refer to myself as a tea-party supporter though. At this point, it would be an embarrassment. I feel that the current tea party mainstream is out to promise one thing to your faces and then stab you in the back if they get into position, just like the average politicians do over and over again. Original income tax was only to be on the wealthiests income. Why not tax the wealthiests assets. Since the wealthest are those best able to offset their income through debt. Conceivable the national debt could be paid off in a few years.

The federal reserve is corporatism and Ron Paul from the very beginning has been trying to dismantle the Fed. Credit got us into this mess, pal. I tried telling friends and family about Ron Paul last election and they all said he's a nut or something else derogatory. I couldn't believe their brainwashed minds bought the media's labeling of him as unelectable. Anyone who is a patriot and cares about their country should know the truth when they hear it. Hopefully they'll listen in 2012 now that the Obama experiment hasn't worked out like they thought. Last election I saw more pro Ron Paul yard signs than any others but he was off ballot.

The only way I can see to make the gov't smaller is to divide the country up into four nations (following the model of the small union of 13 colonies). Once the gov't is physically smaller; it is easier to keep up with: you would only have 26 senators and 13 governors to keep up with. With the size of the country today; it's impossible to have a smaller government.

Some taxes are bad and we need to adress that , and the fed , but that doesn't mean we loose all hope. Most of the problem with government expansion is it was in the wrong direction - that doesn't mean the government can't build up American society by effective and reasonable taxation - such as with unhealthy foods.

@darkrider441 Thirty or forty years? It was pretty much thrown in the trash around 1861 and has just been getting worse ever since. Of course I have read the document, but what is says isn't important, what is important is the power that it gave to the federal government. And since you brought up reading, you clearly did not read Hoppe's article.

@darkrider441 It replaced the articles of confederation and created a new federal government with the ability to make and interpret it's own law. It was supposed to also limit what that federal government was supposed to do, I don't know if you noticed or not but it hasn't limited the government much at all, because it gave the state to decide for itself what it's power was. Is it really a big surprise that the state decided in favor of itself? What is so har to understand?

To my original statement: If you moderate alcohol use, you can still do whatever you want. If you don't watch your intake and are hammered, well then that was your choice to drink so much so now you have to watch what you do. Same can be applied with marijuana, if you do not watch what you do and you intake a ton of it, then you shouldn't drive either, and likewise if you moderate you can still function just fine. That's the personal choice: Moderation. Government cannot force you to moderate.

The problem with marijuana use in your own home being illegal is that it doesn't harm anyone else's liberty, just like drinking in your own home doesn't. Now if your argument is 'well you may harm someone in your own home because of x drug' well that's not a case you can argue because it's pure speculation. That would say that alcohol should be illegal because some men beat their wives while drunk at home. The problem is when you restrict if for those who are responsible.

It is indeed true you shouldn't operate machinery under the influence of drugs. Part of the reason why marijuana use limits your freedom of choice is because it's illegal. However the argument isn't whether it limits your choice because of individual action, the argument is that it limits your choice because of mandates outside of your own action. Alcohol is illegal to drive under the influence because it can harm others and inflict damage upon THEIR individual liberty.

His message has not changed in 20 years. The big government hasn't listenned to their Constitution yet so there's no reason to expect them to start. Even with this man as president we'd have to find a lot more Congressman and Senators who will uphold the Constitution. The outlook is bleak but maybe total chaos has to come first before people wake up. Reality is going to hurt!

I really want to ask Ron to run for president in 2012 - it's simply a scary task when having to deal with the load of ignorance that weighs against the progress for the United States. Get the federal reserve in line, and kick corporations out of congress, 100%.
