oh my gosh i always feel so bad for the horses and riders. and i love watching the amazing horses that ust try their hearts out for their riders. i hope all of the riders are extremely proud of their horses.

Anyone who puts down eventing, obviously has never tried it. Because it's an amazing sport and takes takes a well rounded horse and rider to be able to do dressage, cross country and stadium. Eventers love their horses just as much as everyone else doing any other sport. Just because our sport may be more dangerous than others, doesnt mean we love our horses any less. Horses love XC, I know my horse sure does. Accidents happen everywhere, we cant control it. So give eventers a break.

dang i can see a couple horses that either broke or sprained something or rather >.o owwie even this years rolex one there was 1 miss hap where a grey horses front leg totally filed to go ofer the jump and in made the horse flip right over and land on the rider DX it was like seeing it in live action weird stuff i was like O.O wow

Riding horses is dangerous. Period. It doesn't matter what you are doing with them, things happen. Even in show jumping, bad injuries can occur. So if your going to be riding horses, why not have fun. Cross-country is amazing and it gets too much bad hype.

the only way I could justify making your horse jumping somethign like this- is if the course was made to mimic somethign solid- but not actually harm your horse or make such terrible leg/neck breaking falls- and only for training not competition.  I can think of urgent situations where you might *have* to jump across things like this and it's good for your horse to have an idea how to clear it, but that's it.

Cross country is so scary~I like stadium jumping more because if your horse hits the fence it falls over instead of flipping them... then again if I took my horse towards some of those fences he would be like HOLY CRAP YOU WANT ME TO JUMP THAT!?!?!?!

I love how people post on some videos that these mishaps are so rare- yet you can find so many videos and photos. It's disturbing that more people in the industry don't criticize or challenge these types of events- because they feel like they might lose their sport then. Even horse owners and enthusiasts turning a blind eye on their comments. "oh its the riders fault he's not a good rider, oh, this is *rare*"

I don't see why more people in the horse industry don't feel guilty to risk their horse's well being with eventing and X-Country. I loved my horse too much to risk her life and injuries like this and for what? my own kicks? I have been doing hunt seat equitation and show jumping for years, and im swtiching to dressage for this very reason- I have seen many mishaps over the years, and 99% of them are preventible.

I totally agree with you. When I (eventually/finally) get my own horse, I'd never dream of risking it's life with jumps like this. I think I'll stick to flat work and showjumping, which I know have their own risks, but more so to myself than my horse.

@broedfilth: good for you :) is it going to be your first horse? Thats a most exciting day for someone ... my first mare passed away almost 2 years ago, I miss her so much. I'm looking for a horse and a good dressage trainer (prefferably in classic as close to spanish riding school as possible,) rather than competititve style, even though I would like to compete but really want to learn classical dressage as an art before it became competition.

Yea ^^ it would be, though I've been riding most of my life. I'm so sorry to hear about your mare :( my favourite horse died a few months back, nothing compares to loosing a friend like that :(

Well..a clip is mine. And the other i got off of youtube. Its not copying people cuz the clips are from tv and anyone can use them. I Have a youtube downloader tool. And with that you can convert and sniff videos.
