I was a little boy when I heard this song for the first thime. My older sister used to listen to this one and Love is Blue. Thank you Santo & Johnny! I think you have Italian origins. Italy singers are simply excellent. Hugs and kisses to both of you!
My sister was named Marie Alena after this song title, I love this song. So smooth, but yet a little sad, it brings chills and sadness but yet soooooo beautiful. Santo and Johnny play the most awesome music with their guitars. LOVELY!!!
@Anelaokalani1 My sister was named after this song as well. My mom passed away more than 20 yrs ago, and I still remember her with this song. Santo & Johnny are simply timeless. :D
When I listened to this interpretation for a first time in my car, I had goose-bubps allover me and I nearly crashed the car - this is a mind-blowig experience, and although some might qualify the interpretation as ta-bit "sweetened" and "cheesy", I think this is the best sounding Maria Elena EVER.
