A child has no sense of consequence at 8-9 years old as you may not mature until 21 this 9 years old probably assumes this is temporary and everything will go back to normal. This child has no idea what a plea deal is and probably won't accept it as he assumes he'll get away with little to no consequence

@Savethepolarbears79 he was actually eight at the time. and the reason is because impulse is the last thing that ever matures. generally you don't fully mature until 21. however, most people who kill or do violent crimes also have some mental disorder which may delay their maturity impulse for some time or never for that matter. people claim killers know right from wrong if they run away. however it is like a kid taking cookies from a jar. he knows he is told not to, but he thinks he should eat.
