  • Higher octane fuel burns longer

  • @hippiestomper17 If you get an SCT tuner from American muscle they will give three tunes one for fuel mileage and two for performance.

  • how do these tuners affect mileage?

  • and 6th is way down there at 0.69. hmm wonder if the gas mileage is better than they say when just cruising 75 down the e-way...

  • The automatic does not have a 1:1 gear ratio so it may mess the numbers up alittle..

4th gear is a 1:14 ratio and 5th is 0.87. The dyno might be confused but thats as close as you can get to the ideal 1:1..

  • Jeese the auto trans really took out some power compared to the manual's 415 399 after tune rwhp and rwtq.

  • LOL! I'm sure the Ford SVT teams are knocking on your doors wondering how you guys were able to squeeze out more horsepower. Well done!

  • @triplexxxsatyr I don't think their knocking on any doors, they engineer a product that has to meet a wide range of criteria, ranging from fuel economy, engine temperature, longevity, servicing, etc. It's not uncommon for someone to get more HP/TQ out of a factory vehicle with the sacrifice of something else.

  • What all do you do to tune a stock car like this one? That is some serious amounts of power being held back at the factory. What is the reason for not squeezing out all the power at the factory? Does it reduce engine life?

  • @vistaman73 I'm not really sure but I think it's tuned to only run on 93 octane fuel

  • @1HeartnSoul No the tune is on 87 octane fuel, so yes a more aggressive tune on 93 octane would make tons more power.!!!

  • @93549john1 I'm still trying to figure out how the premium gas gives you more power...can someone explain that? Since octance rating is just a rating for resistance to cumbustion. I'm not trying to start an argument but how is its resistance to combustion help gain power?

  • @xLuckydemonx The reason is the computer can advance the timing more with high octane fuel producing more HP.

  • @2001Ramair Thank you for explaining that, it actually make sense. In my area we only have 87, 89 and 91 octane readily available so is it really worth the extra .20 a gallon for only 4 more octane? Perhaps 93 is great but without it I don't see the need for it at least for where I live.

  • @xLuckydemonx higher octane rating increases your knock threshold aka less detonation.

  • @vistaman73 im sure it has to do with the emissions standards and fuel economy

  • dam thats a sweet graph......what a power range, especially on an auto :)

  • Was this stock besides the tune? Will you have a tune available for intake + catback?
