That stat on 1/3 of kids bullying/being bullied is a subject-skewed stat (meaning the people who reported it are skewing). It's one of the reasons bullying was pushed under the table for so long. The bullying # is EASILY higher. The definition of bullying has the potential to be too specific ("Ok I said fag, but I didn't hit him", "I said nerd but I didn't say fag"). There needs to be a BROAD definition of bullying that is taught, and all behaviors under that umbrella need to be identified

I found bullying to be rampant during "down time." That included hallways, bathroom, lunchroom, etc.

One school dealth with it by putting punching bags in the lunchroom, keeping older/younger kids apart in the lunchroom/playground, and not letting all the kids into the stairwells/hallways at the same time.

You need to structure the school environment for safety and success.

@MondoBeno you mean dealt?.. but yes i agree that schools need to be restructured... the best thing would be to eliminate public schools as such and making it so that the money from the gov. that would normally go to public schools would be used for the children to go to any school. so that teachers and schools are made responsible for themselves and the students including teaching and regulation and not having big classes.
