I use the pirate bay all the time to get games! I never want them to shut down! Ever! Instead of going out to the store to get a game I can just download it 'LEGALLY' on a website in the comfort of my own home! I get games such as skyrim, battlefield, Call of duty, halo, ect.

Prophit, your example of someone walking into another person's house and taking the TV, well, that's just not it at all. If you want an analogy, it's more like someone going up to a TV in a house, duplicating it, and then leaving with the duplicate. The copy does not cost the original owner ANYTHING, and it's the same with file sharing.

I think that when people download a movie or a cd most of the time they weren't going to spend money on it anyway. so technically money hasn't been lost, it was never going to be spent. There are people who will download everything they want even if they would buy it but I'd think most people who download only download because it's their only option, they never intended on spending money on whatever it is.

I have downloaded music before, but i still think downloading stuff that people have put a lot of hard work into and not paying for it is wrong. At least when i download something i like i go and buy the album or whatever.
Also, i think you should be allowed to with the owners permission, as it is sort of free advertising for new bands / bands noone has heard of like the red jumpsuit appuratus, silverspace etc.

Prophit, your example of someone walking into another person's house and taking the TV, well, that's just not it at all. If you want an analogy, it's more like someone going up to a TV in a house, duplicating it, and then leaving with the duplicate. The copy does not cost the original owner ANYTHING, and it's the same with file sharing.

torrent is a useful tool just like a truck. But if you rent that truck to haul off things that someone else made to sell. Can you blame the truck or the person who is doing the stealing? Or is the person responsible who rented the truck knowing you were going to use it to steal and showed you how too steal with ease? Duplicating a TV is fantasy right now, if we could do that we all would not need any money. Cool!

If it does not cost the original owner anything then why would anyone spend so much money to fight piracy, come on now lets get real! Huge Company's closed down over this, many families are homeless or moving out of state. Well my state that I know of. Lots of people can't do what they dreamed of doing because there is no money to fund there projects. Which leaves us with out good entertainment because every ones going cheap so they can try to keep their profits up. We get hurt at the end.

Well, if such technology existed, society as a whole would need to restructure to make way for such radical changes. Kinda like how business models have to / are adapting to this technological shift.

I might lose but I have to stand up for what's right. Just because you think you have the right to steal does not make it right. Murders and Rapist think its there right and you should not restrict them and yes your right we have not stopped them completely.but we have to try to restict them from doing whatever they want just because it gives them a sense of freedom. Freedom is doing things you want anytime with out hurting your fellow neighbors

Mako have you read these other people excuses just to feel like they have the right to steal. It blows my mind! I alway thought people as whole are good and will do the right thing most of the time. But it seems like they just follow the mobs rule, it saddens my heart.
I see people everyday and these are individuals and families day are just trying to make it but their dreams are being destroyed by all these pirates. Some people just get by.
