For all the morons who dislike this song, or have taken the time to post a negative comment, please bare in mind you searched for "Marc Cohn Walking in Memphis." Dumb asses.
Marc Cohn is a music master! His songwriting skills shine oh so brightly in this masterpiece! I wish the public had embraced him for his great gifts that God gave him. What a cool cat!!!
I just heard this song within the last few months! Fell in love with it. Didn't even know it was as old as it was. Good music always appeal to those whenever its heard!
something amazing about this song, even though it's utterly simple... and involves prostitution hahaha... it's beautiful somehow. is it the piano? is it the reflective tone? the images? all of the above? i wish i knew
i'm only 17 and i love this song! i remember on the way home a couple of years ago from holiday this song was played by my stepdad, i loved it instantly! as soon as i got home i found it here and listened to it till i fell asleep, ever since i'll listen to it a lot, i just can't get bored of it! we need more songs like this nowadays!
If your soul never walked in Memphis you wouldn't understand why this song is so profound. Excuse me while I touch down in the land of the Delta Blues.
That's incredible how Youtube has the power to change things. This beautiful song could be found posted on the network by several users who hold a YouTube channel, including myself. The only official video available was (and still is!) that broadcast by VH1Classic, now completely removed from WMG for copyright reasons. Any of these videos has been uploaded in 2008 and had more than 1 million of views! Congratulations and fuck you WMG.
I can never tire of this song which I probably heard thousands of times over the course of the last twenty years since it's one of my all time favorites.Marc Cohn is great and should have been a bigger star.
Marc Cohn was born in Cleveland like me. :)
