Ok guys, for some reason the uploader doesn't want to explain how he did the jump at 0:14 so let me tell you. At the top of the ramp that's at 0:10 you start holding down. You have to hold down continuously over the gap at 0:12. That's why you hear a second whooshing sound. Then as soon as you can, jump off the wall to the wall with the red spring. At this point you have to let go of down and hold up. That will make sonic not lose momentum. At 0:14 jump and hold right. It's tough though.

hey, check out my speed run its "sonic 1 - starlight 1-3" i took no shortcuts or any extra bounce springs i dodged all the spikey things. you'll see what im talking about at the end of my video i put a slow clip of it

I slowed down but I was still holding right the whole time. I was having troubles with the fans.

do what you did except hold down instead of right, you should save about a second if you time the jump by the first fan right.
