Nickelback ARE talented musicians in a sense that they can surely put on one hell of a live show. Kroeger IS a fantastic singer (like their music or not). Their music is mostly between mediocre and awful (with expections like "Flat on the Floor" or "Because of You"). So yes, Nickelback can play, they just need to learn to write better songs in general.
And yes, I love Nirvana. They were definitely one of the greatest bands to emerge from 90's.
Nickleback ripped off Nirvana? I laughed so hard I almost puked. I love Nirvana and I think Nickleback is barely mediocre at best. They writes marginal lyrics and Chad's voice is subpar (but kick ass riffs most of the time). That riff is only slightly similar to "Swap Meet" There's nothing wrong with taking a riff and altering it. Besides, I'd be a little surprised if Chad owns more Nirvana than "Nevermind" and "Unplugged".

There are more egregious examples of plagarism than this, and this might not even necessarily be plagarized. Rock riffs are bound to sound similar, especially at this point in time as there's only so many ways to do it and most of them have been done before.
However, as a side note, using a cell-phone-recorded riff on their album would have to be the only remotely cool thing Nickelback ever did. Man, it makes me happy to see so much hatred for Nickelback; there's hope yet!!

There are more egregious examples of plagarism than this, and this might not even necessarily be plagarized. Rock riffs are bound to sound similar, especially at this point in time as there's only so many ways to do it and most of them have been done before.
However, as a side note, using a cell-phone-recorded riff on their album would have to be the only remotely cool thing Nickelback ever did. Man, it makes me happy to see so much hatred for Nickelback; there's hope yet!!
