Understand that you are reducing the life of your motor by doubling the voltage. The brushes on the motor are undergoing more stress.
Interesting suggestion by Redface is adding a switch to reverse polarity thus spinning the wheeling in the opposite direction. Don't know how you would do it without the help of gates.
My suggestion would be to run the batteries in parallel which would give you 6v speed, but twice the battery duration on a single charge.
Your right about that, I made my friends kid a sick trike with the rearend of a 6 volt barbie corvette, a bigwheel bike, a 16 inch bicycle tire for the front, and a 12 volt lawnmower battery. this thing hauled ass, about 10 mph. Yes the motors burned out in about 2 weeks but those where the best two weeks of his life!
Don't listen to the gloom-and-doomers posting. This PW model is actually designed to be upgraded to the 2 x 6v batteries, as you show by cutting out the left rear battery compartment. My son has one and in addition to the 2-6v batteries, I've moved the switch to a pedal on the right side and also added a fwrd-off-rvrse switch. I'm considering adding another motor and gearbox to be able to handle an 18 or 24v "turbo" button (the button that's still on the steering wheel). Then it'll be complete.
there is one problem you might over load the motor and burn it out then all the wires will go red hot and melt some plastic and it might hurt your little girl
cant wait to do this mod. we've got a super 6v macqueen goes 3.5mph after mod 7mph. good job on diagram, soo easy!
