@Republicdescroissant not during the battle of Azincourt, they got thier arses kicked hard core. plus serveral other great defeats, but azincourt was and still is one of ther greatest victories the english has had over the french. which not only destroyed the the greater half of the french army but cut off half of the french blood line.

I'm not slandering the french, but just saying they were, at the most struggling to hold the greater half of their land for the greator periods of the time.

@Vkkhamul then i would recomend you read the book 'azincourt' by Bernard Cornwell, you'll like it. Involves the sacking of Soissons, siege of Harfluer and the battle of Azincourt...mainly focussed on Henry V, and his claim on the fench crown.

city. My archers wer eon the walls, firing at the Pope's formations. My knights softened them up with as charge, as my melee units rushed in. I was slowly breaking the line, but not fast enough. My Emperor charged to the center of the city,, where he engaged the Pope in combat. All of their bodyguards died, it was down to the two of them. As the song ended, so did both of their lives. I won the battle, but the Emperor, my greatest general, died with the Pope.

Thanks. I totally crushed the Pope's forces after him and my Emperor killed each other, though. Plus, I had the military strength to holld off every single crusading army to Rome. The game went in my favor after that.

@Joe25016 Hope you know you can never actually BEAT the Papal States, right? If you capture their last city/town/castle they will just get another Christian country to give them a region, and move there. They will also get a new pope.

I never beat the Pope but is there some sort of movie or something for doing it? I don't want to know ABOUT the movie, just want to know if there is one so I have something to look forward to xD

Oh, I know you can't actually kill the Papal States, but you CAN keep killing the Pope. I have them on the run for quite some time. And I do recall a video, I just forget what it was like. It's been awhile since I've played the game and actually went after the PS.

@Joe25016 I killed the Pope last night xD. I got Milan unlocked then modded it so I had a few armies in the beginning that were OP. For some bizzar reason it made me start with my three milan wagons instead of my legion of cavalry. Still fun watching what was like 5 wounded infantry/cavalry units trying to take on an entire legion of cavalry. My AI forces basically enveloped them, the Popes unit escaping. I killed their general and the pope fled, sole survivor, charged at my units again, he died

@Joe25016 It gets better, an English Cardinal (or w.e their called) became the new Pope, so I attacked their fort and killed him. So two Popes in one turn.

The fort battle was amusing to no end, I have control of two Milan Wagons again, 2 catapults and a trebuchee and a handful of infantry, my cavalry legion on the OTHER side of the fort, forming a HUUUUGE wall. I marched my infantry to the gate while my machines attacked it so when it went down my men were marching right thru it.

Btw, I didn't say that the Pope would DISAPPEAR if he died, a new one would be elected :) I've just seen where I have taken all regions of a neighbouring faction, their units turn to rebels, and often the family try charging at me XD

I was playing HRE. I took out Denmark, Milan, Venice, Sicily, Poland, And Austria. I was allied with the Byzantine Empire and Russia, and was at war with France and England. I attacked Rome with over 2.5k troops, including Gothic Knights, Forlorn Hope, and spearmen and siege equipment. My Emperor and his reinforcements quickly surrounded the

@makingabang how the hell did you lose if? well were they more infantry than cavalry? cause any unit of spearmen especially one thats experienced and with good advancements to there waepons gives cavarly a night of living hell...even some of the lowest ranking of spearmen could still sustain heavy causalties to any unit of cavalry....I know how to use my spearman...and I know the devasting effect between spearman and cavarly.
