Dare not imagine what will happen when the technology och the wifi link fails....... Watch previous Volvo presentation video with the car tha supposedly brakes automatically....
Sounds like a lot of expensive 'technology' for its own sake. Who the hell is gonna pay for all this? The cars will be significantly more expensive, and you'll no doubt need to pay a fat fee to join a train. No thanks.
The other problem is that aggressive drivers and people going back and forth to work and running late is not going to resolve anything. But if you are to old or senile and looking for independence and they have a special lane for getting off and on highways then I can see that happening. But what is really going on here is a new way of conditioning and control. What's next is computers taking over more of our jobs and putting more of us out of work. I said it and am done with it!
what if the line up of cars gets really long and someone needs to overtake? it'd be good for a road trip but getting to work, i don't think it's worth it. just to read the paper or eat breakfast. i'd rather wake up earlier
@valetdabess good point. although I think being able to legally travel in a 90-something miles per hour beats dodging traffic to work while hazarding breaking the speed limit. Much quicker and more efficient way to get to work. I could also imagine it possible to replace carpool lanes with platoon lanes, thus nearly eliminating the chances of a wreck caused by a speeder trying to overtake the platoon.
@heshamharold omg! dont you hate when that happens?! you have a great idea about something and the next thing you know, BAM! you see it on store shelves!!

@Bow790 Well, I think they were inplying that it would be an option to join a platoon, not mandatory.
jazztrmpr94 1 year ago
@jazztrmpr94 Only mandatory in North Korea.

@jazztrmpr94 to start you are probably right but after it takes off then it becomes mandatory so go ahead and take the bait...

So if the truck driver crashes he kills the train? Not a good idea.
salman2070 1 year ago
@salman2070 isn't that practically the same as sitting on a bus and trusting your driver with your life?
