  • Speedfan only detects my cpu temp. Any ideas why my computer is not decting other stuff....

  • That CPU-Z program help out to let me know what was in the boot up menu and more...

  • Very good explanation, very cool and relaxed easy tutorial, dont see much of these quality tutorial often. THank you pcwiz

  • @10AlexP10 do not overclock a laptop, you are exactly right that you cannot change the heatsink without some serious surgery.

  • i am constantly getting a rounding error in prime95. i am overclocking an amd phenom x3 8400 with 4 gb ddr2 pc5300 ram. help??

  • hey... my Core i3 temperature reach 104-105 when i do the Stability Tes (OCCT)....

is it good... the status is showing hot...

  • @PilotGery1 no, get a new cooler

  • @LucifersDisciple6 no need.... the cooler wasnt installed properly... it is now... get around 70 most of the time....

  • @PilotGery1 and get a compatible and good one

  • Hey PCWizKid,

Can overclocking cause to hurt the cpu so it wont work properly as long as a cpu which hasnt been overclocked? or shouldnt it matter?

    Thanks for all the videos

  • Hey , i just boght a new case and ive got 2 problems, my big mobo cable is too smaal , it cant reach from the psu to the mobo anymore in my new case, and also i dont know what to do with all the plugs that are in the case , especialy the reset button plug and the power button, in my old case it was one big plug , now its like 4 small plugs for power button and reset nd shit .

    Its a CM 690 II

  • i bought an amd phenom ii x3 740 and i unlocked the 4th core and im running on it right now so it seems stable. (my 1st build and overclock) and i downloaded cpu temp monitoring software that was working but now that i unlocked the 4th core all of them say the core temp is 0.0c and i dont know how to fix it.

please help.... i dont want to overheat.

something that seems like a good sign tho is that the fans are still quiet. so im assuming that it is running cool.

    ??????????????????????

  • Thanks for the advice, Subbed :D

  • what does CAS latency do?

  • Hi pcwizkid could tell me how long do you recommend to stree test for? I was hoping this would have been mentioned in your video. Many thanks ;)

  • The speed fan thing says 62c on the first tab when i open up the screen. Is that 62 degree Celsius?!

  • Another Question - I'm still a newbie at this pc building stuff, how long do you recommend using a stress test for? Do you run it until there is an error and then change settings. Thanks Again.

  • @THEANTvids4u

Run for around 8 hours if you want to make sure that it is completely stable. If you get no errors, then it's completely stable.

  • Is it possible to make PC parts, such as RAM Memory, CPU, Motherboards, Hard Drives etc. too cold? I want to know because i was wondering if i could get a very powerful cooling system, and then have the capability to upgrade parts and (if i finally understand it) overclock my CPU.

  • @THEANTvids4u no not really. AMD got one of their CPUs to 7 ghz using liquid helium :)

  • u rock :)

  • How overclock E8200@3600-3800 with P5QC motherboard & 2x2Gb ddr3-1066 ,i can*t do more E8200@3200 400x8

  • I have a core 2 duo e6750 and i overclcoked it to 3 ghz with the stock fan. I ran prime 95 for 24 hours without an error. Incredible. and this dude explains how to overclock really badly. does anybody know what the max temp should be for this cpu.

  • what is the RivaTuner for?

  • I like the way my new Intel Core 2 Duo E7500 functions without overclocking. I will if I have to. But I am not sacrificing voltages if I don't need to.

And also, PcWizKid, your +12V rail looks way to low!!! 9.15V is too low for the operating system to operate!!!!!!

  • i dare not to overclock at all...

  • I didnt dare to do it untill today. Just know your limits and if you go to far and you cant open your bios options, wait an hour or so go back and it should work. Then put it back a bit

  • LOL. I am using stock cooling with stock clock with my i7 860. I use OCCT and run the test. At about 2mins or so, i failed the test. Which is around 81degrees Celcius. LOL. Stock cooling fails.... BIG TIME.

  • pcwizkid is 99Oc a good tempature for a laptop not even over clocked or doneany mods 2 it

  • I have a Core 2 Extreme QX 6850 CPU, in CM HAF 932 case with CM V8 cooler. I'm a bit worried since Real Temp always showing my temps around 39-45 C (I moved multiplier from 9 to 10 but didn't see any difference in temps). I have removed V8, tried the stock fan - temps went up. Put the CM V8 back - no result. Torture tested with Prime95 and OCCT for 8-12 hours with no apparent errors but I still worry about my temps. Should I? I have some experience in system building but I appreciate advise.

  • @zver711, those temps are fine. Are you overclocking at all?

  • Actually those temps not really accurate. its not the CPU temp showing but the Core 0, say its 40 C right now on RealTemp. My EVEREST Ultimate Engineer Edition v4.60.1578 Portable shows the CPU temp is 45C, and I just turned on the PC in the morning, and it feels like 60 C in the room. Right now I do OC but its very little, for that processor overclockers call it a "free OC". Changed multiplier from 9 to 10, got instant 3.33 Ghz from 3.0 and that's it, nothing else.

  • After watching your vids I tried going to different forums to find out dirt on my CPU. I mean it DID come out 2 years ago. So I raised the multiplier to 11 - BSOD. Then left multiplier at 10x and raised FSB from 1333 to 1400, making CPU run at 3.5 Ghz instead of 3.0. Also my memory is 1600@9-9-9-24-2T@1.8V, and since the FSB of the CPU is 1333 originally I had to Unlink it. I just set the mem to the factory settings and dont know much what to do with it, I have 8 GB and Im not sure Im using it.

  • I mean my Windows 7 Ultimate using 20% (about 1.9 GB) of RAM on idle. My EVGA GTX 280 FTW is taking care of my gaming. Not sure I want to OC it, since it handles all well, runs about 48-52 C on idle. Maybe I'll get a PCI slot fan or two to pull some air off, I installed one for a friend in Antec Sonata III case and his GTX 285 got much cooler. In any case I didn't leave my CPU on 3.5 Ghz, since the difference b/w it and 3.33 Ghz cost me about 10 C difference more. Raised VGA temps 5C also.

  • Almost forgot, Prime95 gave me errors as soon as I started testing my 3.5 Ghz, 1400 Mhz FSB set up, voltage on Auto, I think it was 1.4ish.

  • @zver711 try increasing the voltage.

  • PcWiz.... How about RAM??

  • @N00bGeek95 if u wanna test ur ram than do MEM test

  • Use Ubuntu!

  • hey pcwiz.

could you tell me which OS you use?

    i have both windows xp and 7, and i really don't know which one to pick @____@;

  • Is CoreTemp the most accurate program to monitor CPU temperatures?

  • Great VID!

  • I would not recommend anyone using Amd overdrive or any other tool where you need to oc within windows. The Only and Best way to oc your cpu is through bios.If you want to Oc your Gfx,Download Evga Precision, one of,if not The best tools to oc your Gfx,it also lets you control the fan speed. But Never Ever use a tool where you can oc your cpu within windows,Big mistake.

  • Nice video.

  • AMD Overdrive doesnt work without an AMD 7 series chipset .....

I downloaded it and it told me that.

    I have a geforce 7025/nforce 630a chipset

    from nvidia

    my processor is an AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ @ 2.8 Ghz

  • Q1.Hey PCWizKid can SpeedFan also be used for fan speed controlling?

Q2. For CPU Speed control do i have to have the 4 pin connector for the cpu fan or can i do it with 3?

  • @Zillerz3 Speedfan should only be used to monitor fan speeds. A 3pin fan connector can be controlled yes.

  • @PCWizKid

do you know any programs that people can use to control their fan speed? maybe make a video if you wish?

  • will f@h be good for torture testing?

  • dude you are amazing... anyone want to bet this guy makes 7 digits a year by the time hes 25?

  • hah why would he? this is basic stuff.

  • A question from me:

IS 54C a high temperature for my CPU?

  • Thanks for pointing out these tools - You might have just saved me a HDD - Found my 1TB Black cooking at 57C. Off to get some more cooling fans.

  • AWESOME! Thanks!

  • That bottom link at the end AOD - was that supposed to be AMD? Also that Speedfan always complains about temps even when I wasn't OC'g, so I installed Real Temp and my temps are fine - GPU/CPU (49C/40C) for GTX 280 FTW and QX6850. Speedfan was completely useless to me, but Everest, however, Pro, is very, very nice. Any info you might imagine you need - you going to find it there.

  • Whats a good temp to keep you CPU at?

  • usually depends on the cpu, i stay under 40°C with a phenom II

  • It depends on the CPU in question, the older Pentium D's ran on Prescott Cores, and went up to 80'c. CPU's today run from 30-74'c. Of course, depending on your CPU in question. So the best thing you can do is google for your CPU temp. :)

  • Thank you for taking the time to answer me. I have an Core 2 Quad with a mild overclock of 3GHz and its running at 41c. So I guess I'm good where I'm at. Thanks again :)

  • Thank you for these videos!

  • WHAt is the song used at the beginning??

  • lolz mine overlocked cpu iz 40 at full an 20 c when no works

  • how long did you run the Prime95?

  • These videos have been very helpful, thank you for all the information!

  • why would u need to do that lol xD

  • hey i have an E8400 at 3 GHz with the zalman CNPS 10x the temps are 40 C max, whatever i do and once i pushed it to 3.6 GHz and the temps were the same so i think i can overclock it a lot, if anyone wants to help me reply on my comment or send me a PM. Thanks a lot

  • yes, seems like u have a good cooler, i would stop there @3.6Ghz though since this is more than enough, and overclocking graphics card will help u more in games

  • @Nocturnox65 the thing is that i had it like that before but sometimes when i turned it on, it went off again like 1 sec after and then it just restarted normally and it said overclocking failed, but most times it was stable and all, and for the graphics card i have a 4870 and i tried overclocking it to 800 MHz for core and 1000MHz for memory and then i got stuttering in games, in 3d mark vantage it was freezing which i didnt like so i didnt overclock it

  • I have an E8400 but stock cooling, I might upgrade for Christmas and overclock.

Please let me know if you find any good info =]

  • yes.

the core i7 is awesome to overclock.

    i got mine 920 at 3ghz

  • thank you

  • Yes. Quite easy too, if you've got a good cooler. I have mine set to 4.2Ghz, but I can get it all the way to 4.7 with my CM V8 cooler.

  • A quad core @ 4.2 on air .. impossible man .

  • Nope. Mine never gets hotter than 50 C under normal use, 70 with prime95.

  • false legendray2008.

as long as you got a good cooler :P

  • Water Cooling Only gets above 3.8GHz

Even the CM V10 or Prolimatech can't

I am talking about a sable under control Temps setup. Not numbers

  • yet, look at the v8

  • nice

  • cool

  • btw what is like the temp limit for diff hardware?

  • thanks PCWK!!!

  • Nice vid WizKid :)

  • nice vid man !
