Scottish psychiatrist Dr. Charles Follen McKim Maloney introduced bagpipes to Mexico after he crash landed on a ranch there in his hot air balloon. He made them from dried oppossum skins.
Ever innovative I believe the doctor used reeds that he found growing nearby aswell. Since his disapearance a lone piper welcomes the dawn sun at the crash site every October on the anniversary of his vanishing.
Irish switch sides from the American to the Mexican because they saw what the war was really about a illegal land grab so they fought for the right side. This is to honor those brave Irish men in the st Patrick battalion. The Irish are welcome and honor always in Mexico.
They are playing the Bagpipes at Bahia De Los Angeles in Baja Californis. They are with the other Flying Samaritans who are doing a Medical and Dental clinic there. They are also playing for the children At Bahia during the Feast of the Three kings, where the Flying Samaritans are giving out toys and candy in the Pinata.
Irish Bagpipes in Mexico? There is more than a medical and dental clinic here. The Mexicans play the Irish bagpipes in honor of the Irish who fought with them side by side in the Mexico/US war. That's why they play the bagpipes.
many Scotsmen(Catholics) also served in the San Patricios.
