Great imagery with a great song. However, I scrolled through the comments and discovered that some had been removed. Are those the comments of the six people (as of May,21, 2011) that disliked this video?
It is sad , that the troops in this video fight for the rights of incredibly ignorant people, to be able voice their opinion, like you and me, like it or not.
I'm sorry, I just wanted to see what those six dumb ***** had to say
My grandpa died to give them help give them that right.
@lilwoodboy Sorry for your loss. For me Bob just do what he is the best at. For me as an European it is hard to think about war, but I understand you have some memories about that. I listen to Bob and Neil and other nice musicians to help me think about having a good time. They help me. I hope they help you too.
Today is actually the first time i've reviewed the comments and such in a couple of years. the last time I'd looked i was at just over 1500 views and didn't even know about dislike comments. I'd like to know what comments were removed and who removed them. I welcome all comments to this vid.
I can't even say the joy and the gratitude I feel. Thank you Wife. (sorry for the way I said that). I am so thankful for our men and women over there and I melt when I think of it. Brothers and Sisters, Thank You So Much for taking care of us. I know, I love you.
You did a fantastic job with this video. I used to listen to this song over and over, finally scratching the hell out of the album. Hearing the song again just brought back so many memories of my youth. Can't believe it's been 30 yrs. I've got tix to see Seger on the 2011 tour, and I'm praying he pulls this out of the archives. God bless your husband and all others who've defended our freedom. I still remember the day my brother came home from Vietnam (I was 7), and my Mom absolutely losing it.
This entire album will forever have a special place in my heart. I was 17 in 1980 when most of the songs on this album were in the top 10 and I was head over heels in love with my girl and still love her to this day. This particular song really gained meaning to me when we broke up. After watching this video I now understand it was probably written for our soldiers in Vietnam and now so appropriate for our Gulf War soldiers. After 31 years it once again has new meaning.
To all who commented on this video andto Lexlie, God bless all of you,,, I is our destiny to become the ones who are not afraid to stand up for America. I salute each and every vet, and their family and loved ones.
this is a fitting tribute to all the men and women who have served this country,, Ex Marine Vietnam era, this song really brings back a flood of memories. God Bless all of you, and for the fallen.. RIP
I love this song...was looking for a vid of this song and found this. It is awesome, thanks! America!!! I love it and I love the American Soldier....God bless ya!!!
I usually don't like videos that don't have the band performing. This is by far, my favorite. I only hope you know how much you all mean to us back home. I pray for you all to come home safe. Actually, wish they would have let me re-enlist in '91. Every single one of you make me so proud to be an American. I am a veteran and I understand. Thank you all for standing up for us back home. Now, GET SOME!!!!!!.
I dont know why but this song just melts my heart when i hear it and i cannot listen to it only once. I have to listen to it about 10 times everytime i listen to it. Crazy i know but i just love this song. I love the little guitar solo at the very end sound so great. Id give anything to watch Bob play this one live.
Thanks for posting!! God be with all of our troops....YOU ARE HEROES, and the HEROES that have served and died protecting us and God be with their precious families!!! You're all SPECIAL!! Thank you!!!
I heard this in the 80's and it was a brilliant choice when it was used in the ending titles of a Police documentary about the local cops, their day to day and what they go thru in their job. Parts were pretty graphic and it showed just prior to the ending and this song, one cop in tears telling how he had to shoot a kid who had a machine gun, killed his partner and was bout to kill him too. And in 20yrs of service he never had to draw his gun till now.
@ozcobblepot218 That's a hell of a thing. I never would have thought of this song being chosen to serenade that kind of tragic situation you described seeing on TV.... but I think the song would fit it really well. I can see your point.
@BareBaron1 Yes I know and I'm very sorry. I dunno if you're from Aus or the States but here, reparations were made by the Govt and the people in 1988 and a big party was in the city's Hyde Park for all the Viet Vets and their fams with rock bands, free beer and food, so I hope you got the same.
oh wow! love this song a lot! wasn't sure if this song was released as a single but i remember playing it on my LP alot back in the days. love the melody of the song. what caught me then i thought the song reminds me of almost the same idea of that phrase "no man is an island". thanks for posting. good stuff!
This is a beautiful song from one of my favorite Bob Seger albums. All the songs on it are great! It takes me back to the early 80's when I first heard it. Almost every track from this album was on the jukebox at the biker bars!
My all-time favorite song. Brilliant and beautiful, it's open to a number of interpretations of what "No Man's Land" really means; it is a perfect example Seger's abstract/ intentionally vague lyrical style. This song covers so much ground, one could talk about its meaning all day long. Seger rules!!!
According to Bob on an interview he did with In the Studio host Redbeard that "No Man's Land" was supposed to be used as the opening song in Tom Cruise's 1983 movie All the Right Movies movie where they showed the factories and so forth but the producers of the movie and direcotr fell out with Bob on creative issues. I muted the music from film and used this track at the intro and thought it fit perfectly.
Im 28 yrs old n was raised up on Bob Seger n I know every song hes ever sung! Was happy to see this video, my man has been to iraq n i know what u mean.... awesome video honey! mad props! i posted a viedo myself of bob. look up Good for me. You and your man will love it! Hes saying ohhhh shes good for me! standing right beside me, not behind me.
Funny but true, My brother gave me the nickname NoMan when I was 16 And he said if I moved into a new neighborhood I could tell everyone my name was NoMan that way if I ever got in trouble an the cops were looking for the one that did it everyone that seen me do it would tell them NoMan did it an they would be looking for a girl. NoMan=Girl get it. Hahaha..... :-)~ Love This Song!!!!
My favorite Bob Seger song of all time and this video makes me ache 'cause i'm not there to help. Thank you so much, my brothers for protecting our country. I love you
@Stadia2024 No, it is Bob´s best, really. No other song comes even near. I do not like the "Against the wind" album but this song stands out. Bob made his best songs working like this.
A brilliant and beautiful song. And I agree with Jim; not only is this song open to a number of interpretations of what "No Man's Land" really means, but it is a perfect example Seger's existential/abstract/ intentionally vague lyrical style. And by the way.... No Man's Land is among my favorite songs of all time. It covers so much ground, so it's pointless to name specifics about its meaning. Seger rules!!! But PRAISE THE LORD AND PASS THE AMMO???? What the F%$#????!!! Don't be silly.
This song could be applied to Iraq, but has nothing to do with it. It was written well over 20 years before the war and its lyrics are existential really. Please look at the song from its time, not by throwing our time on a song that not even the most prophetic soul on Earth could have foretold.
jimstull, this song is timeless, like Dire Straits' "Brothers In Arms." They are aptly applied to our present day situations, although it's true they were written in other times, for other reasons.
funny, if the araibs tell the same to there own soldiers, then it is forbidden. Sry the ALLIED only done her job for the big bad money. They give his life away for a money. It´s the job from the army. If you say "thx" then say thx to the french legion. This guys made the "REAL" job.
A wonderful, special amd moving song. Hadn't heard it for over 20 years. Thanks to your husband, his mates and their families for the sacrifices. Me and mine sleep safe whilst they face the storm.
Thank you soldiers, for keeping us safe. Because of what you are doing, perhaps my young son will not have to fight the monsters one day. God bless you all.
Nice job. It costs to live in a free society! Somebody has to stand in No mans land! Thanks for your family's sacrifice and all the men and women who keep the wolf from the door!
I could watch this everyday, and I would know exactly were I stand. I love my freedom, and those who protect it - was Army, too. Love our troops, love our country, and Seger. Pray for our friends over there, it works! God Bless, and enjoy life's precious moments!
Wow!! I have always loved this song. "Sanctuary never comes, Without some kind of risk" - Such a great song and 2 Thanks. First, to you for making this video and Of course to your husband for his sacrifice
I can't believe how many times I can listen to this song and still be touched.Good Lord!Never ending wars! When are we going to honor our young sons and daughters who went for us under a lie that we bought into?Bring them home! This whole war has been a lie and under the pretext of patriotic pride we are letting them get killed and obliging them to kill.Enough blood on everyone's hands.Bring our troops home!
This is such a beautiful song and I love it ever since I heard it for the first time back in the early 1980's. I feel sorry for the fact that you had to compile war pics to illustrate this ingenious song, but I hope your husband and all the other's devoting their lives to another useless war will return savely and unspoiled to the ones they love.
Excellent track. This was one of my favourites when I was working in the Middle East in the 1980's. Thanks for posting it and I hope all your (US) boys and girls and ours from the UK will be able to return home soon.
This is absolutely wonderful what you have done with the lyrics to No Mans land suits life to a T. Who would have thought. Seger has been adapted to so many roads in do many lives, in so many different ways. Amazing how we all take Seger's words and add them to our lives such as you have done here.
I wish I could tlak, meet all who love SEger. We sure would have so much in common.
Glad your hubby is home safe. I bet he loved this video. I sure did.
@segerrocks I'd like to meet more Bob Seger fans, too. I've traveled through 3 continents and lived in depth in 2 of them, and the few people I've met who know of Bob Seger only know "Like a Rock" and "Old Time Rock n' Roll." But the Seger fans whose posts I read really know what's up - no matter which Seger song it is.
@segerrocks Thanks for the recommendation, but I have actually been linked to a Bob Seger Facebook page, and read a lot of really touching reviews there. I know there are a lot of thoughtful Seger fans out there.... I just don't come across them in person enough. Maybe I ought to move to Michigan. The East Coast seems to be more Springsteen territory.
When I was growing up 30 years ago this song was about scallopers but look what history has done to the meaning. Bob segar would have never dreamed of how ironically perfect it is
I wanted to thank everyone for their kind comments. I remember this song from when i was a teenager, it was my favorite and even then it was a classic. I createed the compliation for my loving husband. He spent a year over there, and although he hated it, he'd still go back in a heartbeat to defend those that can't or won't defend themselves. He, like all the other men and women in service to our country, is a hero...
This song is awesome! As a matter of fact, the whole Against The Wind album is!The lines "sanctuary never comes without some kind of risk-illusions without freedom never quite add up to bliss" really can jump out at you.
@lexlieuthor Thank you so much for the video and we pray for you and your husband on a daily basis. This video is so great, tell your husband. My nephew did two tours and I have a good friend over their now. You did an awesome job on this. Thank you
@lexlieuthor Thank you for posting. I felt this way in Grenada and your video is awesome. Your husband is a lucky man and we are all lucky that he chose to protect it. God Bless You Both.
@lexlieuthor miss this is one song that has touched the lives of many a soldier, from Vietnam to the present war in Iraq, and Afganistan, I am proud of this country and the men and women who serve. From a former Marine sniper in Vietnam, to an old cowboy in Wyo.. Thanks to you and thanks to all who have served.. Love this song,, and Segar for bringing it to all who share this song and the memories,, good and bad, and to dedicate it to the men and women who are serving this country now. Thanks
Where is the human heart? I was so touched by this compilation of photos coupled with Bob Seger's (in my opinion) best song ever, and then I saw all of these loving comments. Where is the human heart? If we are so easily touched, how can we be killing one another? How is that possible?
Beautifully Done. Perfect setting. Last time I heard this it was used in a Police Doco, then later used in a short lived police series (I forget the name) but it was a realistic show of the 80's ahead of its time.
This one goes out to all the guys & gals, who spend a lot of hours on isolated areas working their butt out. Also, the artist Bob Sager & The Silver Bullet Band. Most of all, the guys who put this wonderful song on the "Tube."
Great video..

I sure did.
Hope you saw him on tour 06/07. Fantastic!

@nychro7 Go to Facebook and you will meet many Bob Seger fans there.
Tell me your real name and I will look you up there and you can meet some die hard FANS.
