  • Yup!

  • God bless the Marines and all of our fighting forces!

  • jeez 29palms hasnt changed much since i was there in 92 been along time.

  • New Zealand's Prime Minister has invited a contingent of USMC to vist NZ. I'm looking forward to seeing them.

    Ex Royal Navy, Christchurch, NZ.

  • i spent an awesome week in colorado with this band, great bunch of guys and girls.

  • Its not just the size or weight that I am referring to, its how akward he has to hold it. From what I seen most of the weight is riding on one shoulder as opposed to a pack with 2 straps and a lbv.

  • Ive been there!

  • You know the Marine with the big horn in the back can out hump any grunt with combat gear. That thing is huge. I would rather carry a 50 cal. on a 25 mile hike.

  • @asstro440 the sousaphone only weighs 28 1/2 pounds, maybe his weighs 35 max

  • @asstro440 45 pounds of dead weight hells yeah

  • that was a pretty badass column left

  • When my Dad would hear this, he would grow taller, his shoulders would square and upper torso would become ramrod straight and tears would gather in his eyes. He LOVED HIS Marine Corps. To the Ladies and Gentle men who have chosen to sign the blank check, Thank you, OOH RAH, and Semper Fi.

  • @david640 Marine Musicians in the Fleet Marine Bands do in fact go through recruit training and Marine combat training. So the members of this band are "full Marines." Bands even deploy to combat zones, though you won't see them kicking in doors and such. They usually do base security.

Members of "The President's Own" Marine Band in Washington, DC don't go through boot or MCT, but train for military life excluding the combat part. They're professional symphony orchestra grade musicians.

  • Can anyone dispel the the myth for me: Marine Band members " aren't really Marines" since they don't through Boot Camp or have to qualify each year for rifle.I have heard this arguement for many years, but now I need to know the truth.

I don't mean to start an arguemnt I am just trying to find out the truth.

    Thank you

  • @david640 From what I understood, they don't go through a full bootcamp - but have to get the proper physical grade of a marine. They're physically fit - but obviously they're not warriors, they're musicians. Nothing wrong with that - doesn't make them a lesser marines.

  • @AvihooI Your absolutely right and I wasn't trying to imply that they were a lesser Marine, at least they can wear the uniform, I won't ever have that honor.

  • just watched the presidents marine band, these guys are better. remember the jocks (scots) when u meet them.

  • 19 people are now dead terrorists! 2005 Parris Island Mike Co 3rd Bat Sr DI was Shawn Worley!

  • gay is gay, there's no need to elaborate.

  • wow, i need to show that turn to the marching band, we are so sloppy

  • I didnt know a SSgt could still be in the band lol

  • wow, the first 5 seconds was super gay.

i hope they don't rape the navy guys.

  • @Terrapinfan2007 The fuck you talking about? what was gay about it

  • This march looks very gay....

  • The band featured may be a Marine band, but is obviously not THE Marine Corps Band. One Sousaphone? As far as a contest between the Royal Marine Corps Band and the US MCB, J.P. Sousa would disagree. The video shown is taking liberties in the percussion that J.P.S. would never tolerate; the Bass drum would be playing in straight 4. Listen to the full band play Semper Fidelis or Stars and Stripes Forever. then tell me about the Royal Marine Corps Band. :-)

  • To those of you wondering, 29 Palms is a tiny little town outside of the MCAGCC in the Mojave desert. I wouldn't expect to see huge crowds of people lining the streets as there really aren't that many people there.

    Semper Fi!

  • i love the marines

  • Marching French Horns!!!!!!!!

  • I will always have much respect for the Corps, Twenty-nine Palms on the other hand..

  • I always love the US Marine Corps band. I never get tired of hearing them. I'm sure it takes a lot of practice playing music, but it is well worth hearing them playing for generations and generations to come.

  • the drums at the end of the video are playing our marching cadence. when we march to a gig site we use this cadence as opposed to a Marine being out calling cadence (left right left etc...) not meant to be crazy flashy or anything. just something to march in step.

  • Royal Marine band are better

  • @clarkiiboii09 Fuck off brit no there not.

  • @PRESTON58CENT Accherly they are. The band of Her Majesties Royal Marine Band Service are the best marching band in the entire world. They are also are fully flegged fighting infantry, medical and driving soliders. They HM Royal Marines also do the best drum displays in the world, which after looking at the USMC's drum solos, are good but not as good as the Royal Marines. You just need to face the fact that HM Royal Marine Band are better. Thats why they are Royal.

  • Hold the Marine Corps Banner High Semper Fi

  • smooth

  • I was in the 29 Palms Marine Band from 1963-1964. There is nothing like a Marine band even to this day. Had 4 wonderful years serving in Marine bands in North Carolina, California, Japan & Vietnam. Got selected to march in the 1964 Rose Bowl Parade with select members from all of the Marine Bands on the West Coast. Semper FI

  • Got out in 86 but I will always be a part of The Corps. Til the day I die.Nothing sounds as good as that Marines Hymn.

  • i want to join the usmc band, as a percussionist(drummer/snare) is there any advice?

  • ooh rah!!

  • This tune is like a stuck record

  • Sing with me "same old muuuuuuuuusic, same old shhiiiiiiiiiitttttttt"

  • @luxiguy sing with me "you're a faaaaaaagggooootttt, a gay ass fucking faaaaaagggooootttt"

Marine Corps hymn is the best music in the world!

  • I love how the trombones are out in front. I can't believe I never noticed that before. I guess they have to be though. =)

  • Watching the USMC band is the only time I'll want to hear marching band music. Semper Fidelis!

  • The Few and The Proud.

Yall look at how many Marines are in that band......and dammit, they make more noise than any college marching band ANYWHERE!

    oo-RAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • OOOFRIGGINRAH ! Happy Birthday 2010, Marines ! All those years and STILL kicking ass !

  • do the us marines only no one song and one drum solo because every song on utube with them init has the same song everytime

  • @odst000a THE BEST 'song' ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Oorah Marines! I cant wait to earn the title of US Marine.

  • Best song every written

  • those 14 must be commies

  • Comment removed

  • @MrJimmyboy1972 This is an interesting comment. I want to know what you mean by contrived?

  • @aolthof007 too cheesy, this band do nothing but be a band. the rest are doing dangerous job. my opinion.

  • @MrJimmyboy1972 ...bandsman they may be, but EVERY Marine is a rifleman FIRST ! And what Girl Scout troop did you serve with ?

  • @NamVetBuck how about 15 years in the british army. man and boy, serving with equivelent of your National Guard. 15th Battallion The Parachute Regiment (Boy Drummer, Support Company, Mortars, 15 yrs old to 17.5 yrs old). Then into the British Regular Army, training as a signaller (3years). And then as a Para Signaller for 4 years. And the rest of my service with the Royal Military Police (Paras) hardly the girl scouts. yeh! be riflemen first, bandsmen and women are needed too. not thinking.

  • @aolthof007 ..Yeah, me too...what is "contrived" and how can you apply it to this piece? Most music IS contrived, written by a composer and meant to be played as written. Notice that I said MOST music.

  • i think they mean with the lack of people around that it was a practice or somehow created by the maker of the video. good none the less just looks like it was made not you happen to be there and by chance it was recorded

  • @inuyasha32 This was done at a parade in the city of 29 Palms. The drum bit at the end happened when I came apon the lads practicing and asked them to play something for me, which they gladly did. I was not there because of the band, I was there to record a politician that was in the parade also and considered the USMC Band a bonus. I hope everyone enjoys this band as much as I do.

  • @aolthof007 Thank you for this video! Love watching our military men and women taking pride in being an American!

  • Semper Fidelis

  • ROYAL MARINE BAND , US MARINE BAND = the best

  • YES

  • They walk with dignity, pride and straight up - B/C the DI sergeant has stuck a broom handle up their asses. Gheorghij

  • Now that was a fuckin column Left!!!! What a great and spot on representation of the Marine Corps!! Oorah!!

  • GO for it!!! Sounding PROUD! SHOW the rest HOW it's done!!

  • My momma was a Marine.

  • Recgonition

  • OOHRA SEMPER FI, t THE GREATEST FIGHTING FORCE IN THE HISTORY OF THE PLANET. MODERN DAY 300 SPARTANS

kEEPING THIS GREAT COUNTRY FREE OOHRA

  • OORAH

  • It's odd to hear such a light sound from a USMC band! I was expecting a deep bass tone, and this hit me!

  • wow! super buena!

  • its fun OORAH!

  • great drum corps. played bass and tenor drum in 15th(Scottish) Battalion, The Parachute Regiment pipe band in the sixties and seventies. Fond memories. a wee bit hard, drumming if you are dropping from 1000ft. lol

  • my eyes get all teary when i hear this. semper fidelis

  • They got the Beat!

    Happy 4th y'all! :)

  • Semper Fi

  • I use to love it when they would come through housing once a month and play for all of us familys.

  • Best song on this planet. OORAH!

  • God bless our men and women in the service. They deserve all benefits and more. They deserve the highest respect. I am very proud of them. Woo Hoo Service Men and Women!!!!! We Love You All!!!!!!!

  • 29 Palms, ONLY a few HOUrs away from EVERY Every Major COOL Citiy. Las Vegas, casinos, and MORE!!! put the heat sucks.

  • holy lol i had my speakers all he way up . ouch

  • Is the Marine playing the snare in front of the camera an Officer because i see no stripes on his shirt and he has the blood stripe on his trousers

  • @kkb0830 Hes a SGT,the camera blurs out his stripes

  • You can not say one nations military bands are better than another, all have deep traditions, the us marines are respectable people and so are the royal marines. Go see Switzerlands drum corps.

  • Ooorah....

  • *chills*

  • Before patting ourselves on the back, let's have a look at what other bands can do. Have a look at the British Royal Marines on Edinburgh Military Tattoo 2005 Part 6, then Royal Marines Beating Retreat 2009. The Royal Marines are in a class of their own. Then try some German bands.

  • @jarekgar1 This is just a small scale band performance no need to flame.

  • All Bands on the battlefield and the then they'll fight with notes - war sucks!

  • Impressive. Shocking to believe some ppl were not impressesed, actually believing

The songs been played better than this.

There's no such thing as perfect. But marines do strive for 110% everytime. But there was no errors to speak of, so I say that performance was 110%.

  • Not bad but a fare way to go to match the Royal Marines band.

  • @JW1690 All Royal Marines need haircuts, drill in speaking politely to civilians, and drill in marching. You can't play with a damn. I've heard you.

  • what are those red things on the back of their belts??

  • @the061593

The "red things" are music carriers for the sheet music of tunes that the band doeesn't play frequently enough to have memorized. Of course, to say the least, that situation doesnot apply to "The Halls of Montezuma."

  • @rdemeyere

cool, im auditioning in april of next year, but this year, im auditioning for the Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle Corp and really need some funding to get to Bloomington, IN, and some help with the tuition would be awesome, would you like to donate?

  • looks fuckin badass when they put their instruments down.

  • WOW wish I could have seen this in person labor day weekend when I visited my son

  • excuse me Wawrinka5 maybe the reason they dont know the music by heart is there are doing other things in the service to keep ur ass safe from the enemies from other countries. they just dont play in the band they have other duties that are probably more important . go Marines. uh Rah Have respect for our service men.

  • i do know that, thank you very much. i was merely remarking that they may have too many pieces of music to memorize...

  • Veterans Day 2009

  • crmartinez001, One look at your profile page shows that you are a very disturbed person. If you respond, I'm sure it will be a valgar tirade of some sort.

  • Wow ! Excellent ! ...And it's probably

    110 facking degrees outside.

    S/F DD's !!!

  • theyre from 29 palms. in case u dont kno where that is, its in southern california, in the fricking desert. thats why theyre not wearing their regulation uniform

  • and those arent flags, theyre packs for the sheet music they cant memorize.

  • Everyday that I train for my boot camp date on 20100612 to the USMC I think of this song to me it's a great motivator to me

    Corpsman to Marines

    1963-1967

  • Kisk-Ass drum solo at the end, pretty cool

  • I really liked 29 stumps. Great place for a tanker to be and the town itself was clean and friendly. Not nearly the cesspool that say Jacksonville or Oceanside was.

And of course nothing like the slimy base towns outside most camps in Oki.

Not that I didn't cruise every single one of course.

  • Now I have to say after reviewing all the Marine bands this is the finest, the best, kick ass band beter then the Presidents own. Semper Fi,Palms 29 you all kick ass!

  • this is so cool i got chills watching it

  • i shall be in that band sooner or later

  • if u consider Russians and N.Koreans soliders free mind voulunters then yes American soliders are slaves (Dont listen to commie scum propaganda there notin but uh bunch of brainwashing i might say tyrants who want notin more than the whole world 2 kiss there ass) CAPITALISM RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I cant wait til I become a Marine.

    Semper Fi

  • I love the Marine Corps uniforms, all of them

  • Verry God Music. Greetings from North- Germany!

  • This band, I can say, has a punch heavier than its weight.

  • my god i cant wait until i enlist im soo auditioning for the band they are soo amazing

  • I LOVE MY MARINES...OORAH

  • hoorah marines!!!

  • My father was in the US Navy, but he always said that the Marines had one thing that the Army never had. The full support of a fleet with some of the largest guns in the world. When it absolutely needs to be destroyed, just call in a Marine. If he can't get it, he can tell the Navy where to pound it.

  • My father was in the United States Army Air Corps. General Patton, commented that when the air corps worked something over, they worked it over...

But, Semper Fi. any way. I got a Great new Idea for a NEW branch of the U.S. armed forch...The United States Army Air Marine Corps. Look at it this way...We would have a Great Infantry, a Great Air Force(Corps) and we could go on a Fabulous Cruise that no one could match. The details need just al little working out.

  • that would cost alot of money and the usmc has one of the best airforces in the world.but good idea semper fidels

  • That could be done with a couple of hanggliders and a few Marines with a bag of grenades a piece.

Beside there are too many good Marines lost forever when they "Swing with the Wing!" :) Semper Fi.

  • I was in that band from 02-05, trust me, we had to go through Boot Camp, just like every other Marine. The only band that doesn't is the President's Own.

  • SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL....GO MARINES.

  • WOW from a former Marine!!!!

  • you could never be a former marine once a marine always a marine

  • You heard wrong Freaky, or you were not paying attention.

There is no way in hell you get to wear that uniform and the EGA and call yourself a Marine with out going through and completing USMC Recruit training (boot camp) at either Parris Island or MCRD San Diego.

And those are definitely Marines!... and Riflemen.

93015... The song is simply called "The Marine Corp Hymm"

  • The only band members that do not go through boot camp are in the President's Own. All of the other band members go to boot camp, SOI and then to the band MOS school. And it is the Marines Hymn not the Marine Corp Hymn.

  • jesus those guys most have been sweating lol 29 palms is a hot base

  • yea they dont my brother is a umsc and they told us at grads they dont have ot so i know for a fact they dont so dont tell me wats not true

  • i havea usmc cd :) i love lisitng to them ther pretty awsome and they are the only ppl ha dont have ot go through boot camp luckys:) my bro had to

  • Everyone goes through Boot Camp. You can't call yourself Marine in the enlisted or officer ranks without going through screening first. I think you mean advanced infantry training.

  • what's the name of this song?

  • Marine Corp Hymn

  • Not the Marine Corp Hymn it is the Marines Hymn!

  • Dang the USMC band is just so exciting to hear and goes wellwith the drill team. USMC one of the best. Period

  • Your a joke Kunjidee to even bother watching only to leave such a pointless comment.

  • *blinks*....and???

  • oooh rah! it doesn't get any better than this!
