@Apologeomasis agree, but even with pot you get addicted. some of my friends who smoked pot for months, even years, they could not kick without going completely mad, and if they couldn t smoke they would even make 100km for 1 single gm. opium is waaay better... every pain you can have, it goes away, every single fucking bad thing on your life... and it does not necessarily screws up your life, you can work and have a social position without consequences, if you are disciplined.

Actually eating it works better. At least it take less. The most potent way to do it is to mix it with alcohol , as in Laudanum. You can burn off most of the alcohol and make a super potent tea t avoid drinking the alcohol which is far more dangerous.
@1956warden Just make sure you burn it before you eat it or better still dissolve in a nice morning coffee. Indeed, you do require a lot less this way. I've smoked for hours and thoroughly enjoy imbibing it much better. It's the taste and the actual smoking from the pipe that I enjoy. Not very hygienic, though. Bloomin' eck, laudanum. Last time I saw that was in The Shootist when John Wayne had terminal cancer. Surely, laudanum is still not made now, is it?
@dat3cuad0rian7 I have never heard of a dealer in the US selling opium, only heroin. However, its easy enough to legally get the seeds online. You can grow them legally in a lot of places, however if your caught harvesting the milk, your screwed. And as previously said, its not too easy to refine, but it can be done.
alot of people do Opium cause they got no food to eat so getting high of this makes them forget about the food. I would say smoke the herb but that gives you the munchies xD

I smoked a lot of opium in Kyrgyzstan and drank a lot of wine. I felt like in heaven! Is not so bad at people say. Is true, after a long time in there I felt some withdrawal symptoms, I admit, I felt bad for some days, but right now I'm very good and not an drug addict. It goes better with wine. The severity of withdrawal is lessened with Codeine detox, but it is the Darvon detox which is like a case of nerves (not that severe). Unfortunately, Darvon was taken off the U.S. market. SSRI withdrawal is played down by many, but anectdotal & even factual evidence points to suicide ideation when it comes down to withdrawal syndrome from SSRIs and SNRIs.

@TheInbornMechanics i have experimented with various legal and illegal drugs to combat depression and anxiety and i can tell you that for the vast majority of people suffering from anxiety and depression opium use is not worth it... it is extremely physically addictive and that can very easily lead to problem such as financial problems, withdrawls, lack of efficiency (because due to your addiction you have to be regularity taking it which means you cant hold down a good job)... its not good

Opium, despite the ease of home growing is really worth staying away from as it is very addicting. Grass is better for you. @TheInbornMechanics I agree. I have major depression as well as chronic pain in my knees, hip and lower back. The SSRIs didn't work as intended, but I got lots of side effects. The same goes for the nsar-class pain medications. When I first took methadone, my depression went away almost totally and the chronic pain was also reduced significantly; the same is true for opium. Strangely, doctors won't prescribe me any opiates or opioids even though every other medication failed miserably. :(

My experience has been derivatives are very strong but my theory is pure opium probably is more like an herb. In America the only thing I ever heard of is red rock. Red rock if real is much stronger than pure opium. It is opium that has gone through a lime process which makes it much stronger.

The Dutch according to my research invented red rock. All opium smoking stories that I heard about from Americans in the US involved red rock. @Mii5TiiK That's a big leap. Opium is in the same family of drugs as Heroin, and while not quite as potent, it is still a hard drug. I'm not saying you wont enjoy it, but I'd do the smart thing and move up the drug ladder slowly instead of smoking pot and then jumping straight into opiates.

@Mii5TiiK , opium lasts for 3 hours maximum, its effects are slightly similar to cannabis but way more intence with a rush. a bit like heroin(but not as strong) in a sence that its also painkiller as its contains morphine and codiene. which can be used for colds., but at a price of addiction.
@kothelegendary 3 hours only? It's effects had always lasted up to 6 hours for me, but that's probably due to the route of consumption. I've always applied it orally and rectally only, as I've found these to be far more effective than smoking.
@Scorpitarios That's because it is very very difficult to smoke. These people are professional smokers. I know how difficult it is just to prepare the opium for the pipe and then their fingers must be able to withstand ultra high temperatures as the bowl at the end of the bamboo pipe and the opium that they mould towards the hole is also very very hot and would give mere mortals like us first degree burns. I spent weeks on end in an opium den in SE Asia by the way.

I smoked a marble sized ball of opium once. It was very relaxing and tasted flowery. My neck felt tight like someone put a warm towel at the back of my neck. The codiene made my hair feel tingly like it was growing fast. I did not experience withdrawals but I was prepared for it. I never got the urge to smoke it again but if I needed something for pain and it was around I would. It has been about 15 years since I smoked it and a year or so since I made pod tea once it lasted all day.
Why do opium smokers always lay down and smoke? Why not just blaze like it was cannabis? Addictive qualitys aside. Must just be the custom or they all saw the same old videos with cats laid back at a den. They dont lay on the floor when you smoke hash in anyplace im aware of.

@TheInbornMechanics i have experimented with various legal and illegal drugs to combat depression and anxiety and i can tell you that for the vast majority of people suffering from anxiety and depression opium use is not worth it... it is extremely physically addictive and that can very easily lead to problem such as financial problems, withdrawls, lack of efficiency (because due to your addiction you have to be regularity taking it which means you cant hold down a good job)... its not good

@ziggyonthemoon Because you get really really loose with smoking opium. So much so that it can be hard to sit up. Opium, despite the ease of home growing is really worth staying away from as it is very addicting. Grass is better for you. I was hooked on opium when I was in VietNam, it's not worth the trouble believe me.

@ziggyonthemoon I was there in 71-72 during the war. Laws now days, well, I'd stay away from the place for a lot of reasons regarding opium, or any drug for that matter. So, feeling, well, that was a long time ago, and I really can't remember all of it. But we use to dissolve opium in vodka and spray it on our marijuana, then let it dry. So you get a euphoric high, very heady, with an intense feeling of lethargy.. After a while, I got so bad I ended up checking into the hospital at DaNang AFB

@TheInbornMechanics I agree. I have major depression as well as chronic pain in my knees, hip and lower back. The SSRIs didn't work as intended, but I got lots of side effects. The same goes for the nsar-class pain medications. When I first took methadone, my depression went away almost totally and the chronic pain was also reduced significantly; the same is true for opium. Strangely, doctors won't prescribe me any opiates or opioids even though every other medication failed miserably. :(

@ellycat I just said that because I think Americans think opium is extremely strong. I have never smoked it but have heard tales of a fairly mild herbal effect from true opium. My experience has been derivatives are very strong but my theory is pure opium probably is more like an herb. In America the only thing I ever heard of is red rock. Red rock if real is much stronger than pure opium. It is opium that has gone through a lime process which makes it much stronger.

I've got a cracking book here that explains what the farmers do to make it smokable. I don't understand what you mean by pure opium. Trust me, man. It's a lovely relaxing and sometimes mildly trippy experience. I'd stay in an opium den for the rest of my living years :)

@ellycat I read some where that in the Golden Triangle the hill people smoke true opium but that never leaves the triangle. The stuff that gets exported is soaked in benzene from what I have read. The Dutch according to my research invented red rock. All opium smoking stories that I heard about from Americans in the US involved red rock. Red rock is the stuff after the benzene then further processed with lime to create a product that can have up to 50 percent pure morphine freebase.

@Mii5TiiK That's a big leap. Opium is in the same family of drugs as Heroin, and while not quite as potent, it is still a hard drug. I'm not saying you wont enjoy it, but I'd do the smart thing and move up the drug ladder slowly instead of smoking pot and then jumping straight into opiates.

@Mii5TiiK , opium lasts for 3 hours maximum, its effects are slightly similar to cannabis but way more intence with a rush. a bit like heroin(but not as strong) in a sence that its also painkiller as its contains morphine and codiene. which can be used for colds., but at a price of addiction.

@kothelegendary 3 hours only? It's effects had always lasted up to 6 hours for me, but that's probably due to the route of consumption. I've always applied it orally and rectally only, as I've found these to be far more effective than smoking.

I know how difficult it is just to prepare the opium for the pipe and then their fingers must be able to withstand ultra high temperatures as the bowl at the end of the bamboo pipe and the opium that they mould towards the hole is also very very hot and would give mere mortals like us first degree burns. I spent weeks on end in an opium den in SE Asia by the way.

@ellycat Yep, I've also found eating to be very effective (and even more so is rectal administration). Should I ever come across opium again in my life time, I wouldn't make that mistake again and wasting it by smoking.
It's a pity that opium is illegal and so unavailable in the west. Many opionauts would be far better off eating opium than shooting up morphine or heroin. It would prevent many accidental ODs.

I smoked a marble sized ball of opium once. It was very relaxing and tasted flowery. My neck felt tight like someone put a warm towel at the back of my neck. The codiene made my hair feel tingly like it was growing fast. I did not experience withdrawals but I was prepared for it. I never got the urge to smoke it again but if I needed something for pain and it was around I would. It has been about 15 years since I smoked it and a year or so since I made pod tea once it lasted all day.

@base320 are you talking from experience or just talking shit? im not intending to smoke my brains out to the point of withdrawal, i just wana try it out. ive been using drugs for about 6 years and somehow have no problem controlling how much i do within a certain period of time. that includes pretty much everything from weed to crack, mdma, coke, ketamine, oxycontin. but never did i let myself get to the point of withdrawal. i like to try shit in life.
